Abstract
BACKGROUND Several reports showed that sexual function was affected during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. AIMS The objective of the study was to demonstrate whether a realistic association exists between the COVID-19 pandemic and erectile dysfunction (ED) among a sampled Egyptian population in Damietta governorate. METHODS This cross-sectional study consisted of 330 adult males diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. They were categorized in three age groups (18-29, 30-39, and 40-50 years, respectively). COVID-19-confirmed cases were assessed by the Arabic version of the International Index of Erectile Function questionnaire (IIEF) scores. RESULTS The prevalence of ED according to the IIEF was 55.1%. The ED was categorized into mild ED which represents 25.8% of the patients, mild to moderate which represents 22.4% of the patients, moderate which represents 7% of the patients, and severe which represents 0% of the patients. We found a significant negative correlation between the age of the patients and the IIEF score. Also, we found an association between the severity of COVID-19 infection and the IIEF score. CONCLUSION An association of new-onset ED in men who suffered COVID-19 infection was established. This may be due to virus-induced endothelial cell dysfunction; however, an underlying mechanism and causation have not yet been clearly elucidated. While it appears that COVID-19 infection may be a risk factor for ED, additional research is needed to establish causality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019, it has had a serious impact on people's physical and mental health. However, in our clinical work, we have found that the erectile function of coronavirus disease 2019 patients with neurological decline was often seriously affected. OBJECTIVES To further explore the relationship between erectile dysfunction and neurological dysfunction caused by coronavirus disease 2019. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted a survey from August 2022 to February 2023 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and the Third People's Hospital of Linyi City. A total of 251 subjects with a history of coronavirus disease 2019 infection were included. Symptoms and changes in erectile function after the coronavirus disease 2019 infection were collected and assessed using the International Index of Erectile Function-5 scale and several targeted questions. RESULTS In this study, we found that in patients infected with novel coronavirus, the proportion of erectile dysfunction was higher in those with neurological manifestations such as olfactory and taste impairment or psychological symptoms such as anxiety. DISCUSSION We found that neurological decline and psychological factors were independent and significant risk factors for erectile dysfunction caused by coronavirus disease 2019. CONCLUSION Patients with neurological damage or psychiatric symptoms are more likely to have erectile dysfunction, suggesting that the 2019 novel coronavirus may affect erectile function by damaging nerves. This provides a new insight into the mechanism of erectile dysfunction.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 can affect human testicles, thus will interfere the production of important male sexual hormone such as testosterone. Our study provides scientific evidence through systematic reviews and meta-analyses that focus on the effects of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection on male sexual hormonal disorders in patients post-exposure to COVID-19. METHODS This meta-analysis was made in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The outcomes of this study were the level of total testosterone, free testosterone, LH and FSH. Chi-square and I2 tests were used to evaluate heterogeneity between studies. The standardized mean deviation (SMD) with 95% CI were used and analysis was performed using the Review Manager 5.4 software. RESULTS The four included studies reported a total of 256 patients with COVID-19 with time of follow-up time post COVID-19 varying from one month to 7 months. The mean age distribution in the study was 34-57 years old. Total testosterone level (SMD = -158.71; 95% CI= -205.30 - -112.12; p<0.00001) was significantly higher at follow-up post COVID-19, while LH (SMD = 0.40; 95% CI = 0.15-0.65; p=0.002) was lower. The free testosterone level and FSH level showed no significant difference between baseline and after following up post COVID-19. CONCLUSIONS At follow up, the total testosterone level in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection appeared to be elevated while LH was lower compared to the baseline.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns had significant impacts on sexual functioning and behavior. Partnered sexual activity decreased overall, while solo sex activities such as masturbation and pornography consumption increased exponentially. Given the ongoing debate about the effects of pornography on sexual function, it was prudent to consider how the increase in porn consumption during the pandemic might have impacted sexual function in the post-pandemic period. Results indicated that despite the increased rates of use during lockdowns, there remains no evidence supporting the relationship between sexual dysfunction and porn use during and following the pandemic period. On the contrary, pornography consumption and solo sex activities offered an alternative to conventional sexual behavior during a highly stressful period and were found to have positive effects of relieving psychosocial stress otherwise induced by the pandemic. Specifically, those who maintained an active sexual life experienced less anxiety and depression, and greater relational health than those who were not sexually active. It is important to consider factors including frequency, context, and type of consumption when analyzing the impact of pornography on sexual function. While excessive use can have negative effects, moderate use can be a natural and healthy part of life.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Our aim was to evaluate the effect of COVID-19 infection on male fertility and sexual function. METHODS Thirty-one patients were investigated over a mean follow-up of 90 days (22-527) after a COVID-19 infection. Erectile dysfunction (ED), blood tests for sexual hormones, semen analysis including analysis of oxidative stress (OS), as well as COVID-19 antibody titer and the nasal COVID-19 PCR test were evaluated pre- and post-infection. RESULTS Five patients reported a mild de novo ED (16.13%). One patient had a de novo positive mixed antiglobulin reaction test after the infection. We found no significant difference between pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 spermiogram parameters (p = 0.815). OS showed no significant association with COVID-19 infection, but with pathological spermiogram categories, sperm concentration, total sperm count, testis volume, FSH and testosterone. CONCLUSION COVID-19 infection does not appear to affect sperm quality and OS negatively in the intermediate term. Further investigations will be needed to assess the potential long-term effects of the infection and vaccination on male sexual function and fertility.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE It has been understood that COVID-19, which has become a global pandemic in a short time, is a disease affecting multiple organs and systems. Some of the organs and systems affected by the disease also play a role in the pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction (ED), which led us to consider the possible effects of the disease on the erectile function. In this study, we aimed to evaluate changes in the erectile functions of patients with COVID-19 among those that had previously diagnosed with mild and moderate ED in our urology outpatient clinic. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighty-one patients aged 18-65 years who were confirmed to have COVID-19 were included in the study. According to disease severity, these patients were divided into two groups as mild (non-hospitalized, n = 60) and moderate (hospitalized but did not require intensive care, n = 21). The patients' pre- and post-disease scores in the five-item International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) and hormone panel results were compared. RESULTS The changes in the IIEF-5 scores of the patients from the pre-disease to the post-disease period were statistically significant for both the mild and moderate groups (p < 0.05). When these changes were compared between the mild and moderate groups, the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.156). There was also no statistically significant change in the testosterone, follicle-stimulating, luteinizing, and prolactin hormone levels before and after the disease. CONCLUSION In this study, we determined that SARS-CoV-2 infection caused deterioration in existing ED in sexually active male individuals, regardless of the severity of the disease.
