Abstract
PURPOSE To report aging-associated change rates in circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (cpRNFLT) and macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer and complex thickness (MGCIPLT, MGCCT) in normal Japanese eyes and to compare the data in linear scaled visual field (VF) sensitivity of central 4 points of Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA) 24-2 test (VF4TestPoints) to that in MGCIPLT in four 0.6-mm-diameter circles corresponding to the four central points of HFA 24-2 adjusted for retinal ganglion cell displacement (GCIPLT4TestPoints). STUDY DESIGN Prospective observational study METHODS: HFA 24-2 tests and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) measurements of cpRNFLT, MGCIPLT, MGCCT and GCIPLT4TestPoints were performed every 3 months for 3 years in 73 eyes of 37 healthy Japanese with mean age of 50.4 years. The time changes of SD-OCT-measured parameters and VF4TestPoints were analyzed using a linear mixed model. RESULTS The aging-associated change rates were -0.064 μm/year for MGCIPLT and and -0.095 for MGCCT (P=0.020 and 0.017), but could not be detected for cpRNFLT. They accelerated with aging at -0.009μm/year/year of age for MGCIPLT (P<0.001), at 0.011 for MGCCT (P<0.001) and at 0.013 for cpRNFLT(0.031). The aging-associated decline of -82.1 [1/Lambert]/year of VF4TestPoints corresponded to -0.095 μm/year of GCIPLT4TestPoints. CONCLUSION We report that aging-associated change rates of cpRNFLT, MGCIPLT and MGCCT in normal Japanese eyes were found to be significantly accelerated along with aging. Relationship between VF sensitivity decline rates and SD-OCT measured GCIPLT decline rates during physiological aging in the corresponding parafoveal retinal areas are also documented.

Abstract
This article is an English translation of the 4th Finnish Current Care Guideline for diagnostics, treatment and follow-up of primary open-angle glaucoma, normal-tension glaucoma and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma. This guideline is based on systematic literature reviews and expert opinions with Finland's geographical and operational healthcare environment in mind.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore the association between progressive peripapillary capillary vessel density (pcVD) reduction and the progression of visual field (VF) impairment in individuals with normal tension glaucoma (NTG). DESIGN Prospective cohort study. METHODS The study enrolled 110 participants with one eye each, totalling 110 NTG eyes. VF defects were evaluated using standard automated perimetry mean deviation (MD), while pcVD measurements were obtained using optical coherence tomography angiography throughout the follow-up period. Estimates of VF progression were determined by event-based and trend-based analyses. Fast VF progression was defined as an MD slope steeper than -0.5 dB/year, while the slow progression or stable VF was defined as an MD slope better or equal to -0.25 dB/year. Linear mixed-effects models were employed to analyse the rates of change in pcVD reduction and VF MD decline over time. Additionally, univariable and multivariable linear models were used to examine the relationship between pcVD changes and VF loss rates in NTG. RESULTS Slow VF progression or stable VF was observed in 45% of subjects, while 25% had moderate progression and 30% showed fast progression. Patients with VF progression exhibited faster rate of pcVD reduction in peripapillary global region (-0.73 ± 0.40%/year vs. -0.56 ± 0.35%/year, p = 0.022). Moreover, this rate positively correlated with VF MD decline in NTG (estimate 0.278, 95% CI 0.122-0.433, p = 0.001). CONCLUSION In individuals with NTG, faster VF progression was linked to a quicker reduction in pcVD, suggesting a positive correlation between pcVD decline and VF deterioration.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the effects of ageing and signal strength index (SSI) on vessel density (VD) measurements of the radial peripapillary capillaries (RPC) in the optic disc, the retinal superficial (SCP) and deep (DCP) capillary plexi and the choriocapillaris (CC) of the macular area using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) imaging. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 138 eyes from 77 healthy participants. High-definition (HD) disc Angio scan (4.5X4.5 mm) and HD Angio retina scan (6X6 mm) were acquired. Whole image (WI) VDs, inside disc (ID) VD and global and hemifield peripapillary RPC VDs were evaluated from the Angio Disc scans. Global and hemifield VD for the SCP, DCP and CC slab in the macula area were also recorded across different age groups. RESULTS Mean age was 48.2 ± 15.0 years (range 25-82 years). Signal strength index (SSI) was 71.6 ± 7.6 in the macula and 74.6 ± 9.2 in the disc OCT-A image. VD for both SCP and DCP decreased by 0.084% and 0.188%/year (both p < 0.001). WI VD and ID VD also decreased by 0.037%/year (p = 0.005) and 0.092%/year (p < 0.001). Peripapillary RPC VD did not change with age or SSI. The effect of SSI was significant in SCP, DCP, WI RPC, ID RPC and CC VD. In the generalized estimating equation model testing for both SSI and age, SSI remained significant against SCP, DCP and ID RPC. CONCLUSION With ageing, a decrease in VD in the SCP, DCP, WI and ID RPC, as well as in SSI, is seen. SSI and age are associated with VD changes, but only SSI is the significant variable that explains the variation in the retina microvasculature in the macula and the optic disc in multivariate analysis. In the CC, a larger SSI was associated with a lower VD. These findings underscore the importance of controlling for SSI in future studies using OCT-A.
