Abstract
Background Epidermal nevus sebaceous, commonly known as the nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn, is a congenital sebaceous hamartoma. It typically manifests as a single yellowish plaque across the head and neck and is composed of sebaceous glands. It commonly occurs during infancy and grows during puberty. Usually, it follows a benign course; however, in a few cases, it can be malignant. This is the case of a 13-year-old child with verrucous plaques on the temple and scalp. Case report We report the case of a 13-year-old boy with a steadily developing hyperpigmented verrucous plaque on the scalp and ipsilateral side of his face. A dermoscopic examination revealed ridges and fissures in a cerebriform pattern with yellowish-gray globules and a papillary appearance. Physical examination and laboratory tests revealed no abnormalities. Biopsies were taken from the scalp and temple area, and the findings were consistent with the diagnosis of nevus sebaceous. The patient was referred to a plastic surgeon for a staged excision. Conclusions We describe a unique example of a sebaceous nevus that affected the scalp and ipsilateral side of the face. As this hamartomatous growth carries the risk of cancer development, a dermatologist must identify the condition and begin treatment before malignant transformation occurs. This example of multiple verrucous plaques is an exception.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Postzygotic mutations in FGFR2 have been identified in mosaic forms of acne, keratinocytic epidermal nevi, nevoid acanthosis nigricans / rounded and velvety epidermal nevus and in two fetuses with papillomatous pedunculated sebaceous nevus (PPSN). OBJECTIVES To determine the clinical and genetic characteristics of children with cerebriform, papillomatous and pedunculated variants of sebaceous nevi. METHODS Infants diagnosed with sebaceous nevi characterized by a cerebriform, papillomatous and/or pedunculated morphology over a 10-year period (2010-2019) at three paediatric dermatology centres in Switzerland and France were included in this case series. Clinical and histological characteristics were assessed. Next-generation sequencing was used to assess for FGFR2 mutations. RESULTS All nevi were located on the head, with a rounded or linear shape and a typical cerebriform, sometimes papillomatous and pedunculated, surface. No associated extracutaneous anomalies were found. Nevi harboured postzygotic mutations in the transmembrane domain of FGFR2 in 6/8 children (75%), either the known specific p.(Cys382Arg) mutation in 5 cases, or a novel mutation, p.(Val395Asp), in one. CONCLUSIONS We found an exquisite genotype-phenotype correlation in these rare nevi, with specific postzygotic mutations in the transmembrane domain of FGFR2. As not all lesions were truly papillomatous and pedunculated, the term cerebriform sebaceous nevus (CSN) appears more suitable than PPSN to describe this entity. The cerebriform pattern of CSN is reminiscent of cutis gyrata, as seen in Beare-Stevenson syndrome, which is caused by closely related germline FGFR2 mutations. While clinically impressive, CSN seem to carry a good prognosis and a low risk for extracutaneous associations.

Abstract
HINTERGRUND Anders als Erwachsene benötigen Kinder bei dermatochirurgischen Eingriffen besondere Aufmerksamkeit; die Anwendung verschiedener Analgetika, Anästhetika oder Sedativa erfordert eine gründliche Kenntnis von Pharmakokinetik und -dynamik der Medikamente. Außerdem können Medikamente zur Sedierung/Allgemeinanästhesie bei operierten Kindern zu Anästhesie- oder Analgesie-bedingten Komplikationen einschließlich Störungen der geistigen Entwicklung führen. ZIEL: Auf Basis unserer klinischen Erfahrung und einer Literaturübersicht stellen wir die gängigsten in der pädiatrischen Dermatochirurgie verwendeten Analgetika, Anästhetika und Sedativa dar und diskutieren Risiken und Komplikationen nach dermatochirurgischen Eingriffen. ERGEBNISSE Topische Anästhetika können bei Kindern für oberflächliche dermatologische Eingriffe oder vor einer Infiltrationsanästhesie eingesetzt werden. Die Berechnung der empfohlenen Maximaldosen auf Basis des Körpergewichts ist erforderlich, um eine Überdosierung von Lokalanästhetika zu vermeiden. Die Allgemeinanästhesie gilt bei der Dermatochirurgie als sicher und hat eine geringe Nebenwirkungsrate. Allerdings ist bei Kindern im ersten Lebensjahr aufgrund potentieller langfristiger neurologischer Nebenwirkungen Vorsicht angebracht. NSAR und Opioide spielen bei der Analgesie von Kindern eine bedeutende Rolle. SCHLUSSFOLGERUNGEN Dieser Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über die derzeit verfügbaren Daten zu Analgesie, Anästhesie und Komplikationen, die im Rahmen der pädiatrischen Dermatochirurgie auftreten können. Diese Daten können dabei helfen, die Sicherheit und Qualität der Versorgung zu optimieren und die Beratung der Eltern zu verbessern.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Children undergoing dermatosurgical procedures require, unlike adults, particular attention; the administration of various analgesics, anesthetics or sedatives requires a thorough knowledge of drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Furthermore, there are concerns that drugs used for sedation/general anesthesia may result in anesthetic/analgesic complications in children undergoing surgery, with a risk of impaired mental development. OBJECTIVES Based on our clinical experience and a literature review, we illustrate the most commonly used analgesic, anesthetic and sedative drugs in pediatric dermatosurgery, and identify risk factors and complications following dermatosurgical procedures. RESULTS Topical anesthetics can be used in children for superficial dermatologic procedures or prior to infiltration anesthesia. Maximum recommended doses based on body weight should be calculated in order to avoid overdosage of local anesthetics. General anesthesia in dermatosurgery is considered safe and has a low rate of side effects. However, caution is advised in children under the age of one due to potential long-term neurological side-effects. NSAIDs and opioids play a significant role in analgesia for children. CONCLUSIONS This article reviews currently available data on analgesia, anesthesia and complications that may arise in pediatric dermatosurgery. These data may be useful in optimizing the safety and quality of care and in improving parent counseling.

Abstract
The timely diagnosis and treatment of dermatologic disease in the pediatric population can be challenging. A basic, yet comprehensive knowledge of common lesions is essential for a successful practice in plastic surgery. In this article, the authors describe vascular, cystic, and pigmented cutaneous lesions that are commonly encountered in the pediatric population. Epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical course, and management options are discussed for each.

Abstract
We present a 6-week-old female infant from the Lao People's Democratic Republic with a large, red, exophytic scalp mass and numerous flesh-colored verrucous plaques on her face and the right half of her body since birth. The clinical and pathological findings are consistent with the new phenotype of the large, polypoid types of nevus sebaceous.

Abstract
Nevus sebaceous is a complex hamartoma most commonly found on the scalp, face, and neck and is often present at birth, although some may be diagnosed later in infancy. We report the first prenatal diagnosis of isolated nevus sebaceous that presented at 19 weeks' gestation as a large and exophytic tumor of the scalp. This case emphasizes the crucial role of ultrasound examination performed with high-frequency probes, which revealed associated diffuse lesions of the face. Identification of such a facial involvement could have a dramatic prognostic impact.

Abstract
Nevus sebaceous (NS) is a benign neoplasm occurring mainly on the face and scalp. It commonly occurs as a solitary, well-demarcated lesion. This paper presents a case of multiple nevus sebaceous, which presented as multiple lesions occurring on the temporal scalp and on the contralateral side of the chin. Multiple NS have only rarely been reported.

Abstract
Nevi or nests of cells may be made up of a variety of cell types. The cell types that live in the epidermis include epidermal cells or keratinocytes, sebaceous glands, hair follicles, apocrine and eccrine glands, and smooth muscle cells. This article discusses epidermal or keratinocyte nevi, nevus sebaceous, nevus comedonicus, smooth muscle hamartomas, and inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevi. Syndromes associated with epidermal nevi are also reviewed.
