Abstract
A 34-year-old male presented with a swelling on the volar surface of the third digit of his right hand. This swelling was associated with pain and erythema. Ultrasound-guided needle biopsy was performed. Cytologic and histologic preparations together confirmed the diagnosis of a rarely encountered mixed epithelial and mesenchymal proliferation, an eccrine angiomatous hamartoma. To our knowledge, this case is the first to illustrate the cytomorphologic features of this rare lesion.

Abstract
Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare benign vascular hamartoma characterized histologically by an increased size and number of mature eccrine glands associated with multiple foci of dilated capillaries in the dermis and subcutis. EAH typically presents in children as discrete, solitary nodules, or plaques most commonly located on the extremities. Some cases of EAH have an agminated distribution involving classic locations, or present as solitary lesions in less common locations such as the face, scalp, or trunk. We report the case of congenital EAH in a child with atypical morphological features and pattern of distribution further expanding on the range of presentations classically described.

Abstract
Eccrine nevi are rare hamartomas characterized by an increase in the number or size of eccrine glands. A polypoid form located in the coccygeal area has been described in a few cases and termed coccygeal polypoid eccrine nevus (CPEN). No association with internal malformations was reported in any of these cases. We describe herein a case of CPEN associated with imperforate anus and unilateral multicystic kidney dysplasia. We review the clinical and pathological characteristics of CPENs and discuss the differential diagnoses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare benign cutaneous malformation with a diverse clinical appearance, therefore likely to be misdiagnosed and underreported. MAIN OBSERVATIONS A 44-year-old man presented with a congenital erythematous hyperhidrotic plaque on the left upper back measuring 18 x 25 cm. No pain or tenderness nor hypertrichosis were observed. Histopathology was consistent with the mucinous variant of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma. Intralesional injection of botulinum toxin type A greatly reduced localized sweating, improving patient quality of life. CONCLUSIONS This article describes a novel clinical presentation of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma: large, erythematous, and slightly indurated plaque localized on the upper back. It emphasizes the role of histopathology in the diagnostic process and botulinum toxin as a viable treatment option.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare benign cutaneous tumor characterized by the proliferation of eccrine glands and capillaries. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to summarize the clinicopathological characteristics of EAH. METHODS A retrospective chart review was performed on all patients diagnosed with EAH from 1977 to 2012 in the Union Hospital, Wuhan, P.R. China, and the clinicopathological features were compared with the cases reported in the literature. RESULTS A total of 26 patients with EAH were identified. The male:female ratio was 1.2:1. EAH most commonly presents as a solitary (80.8%) plaque (50.0%) on the lower extremities (61.5%). Most patients presented with hyperhidrosis localizing to the lesion. Although most patients did not have major pain or anatomic deformity, one patient had severe pain as well as difficulty walking and moving, necessitating leg amputation. The histopathological findings showed typical features of EAH. CONCLUSION EAH is a rare but characteristically benign skin hamartomatous condition. In rare occasions it can be associated with severe structural and functional impairment.

Abstract
Many dermatologic conditions may be present on a newborn infant's upper extremity that can evoke concern for parents and/or primary caregivers. Although the pediatrician typically remains the first care provider, often these children are referred to specialists to diagnose and treat these lesions. Hand surgeons should be familiar with different infantile skin lesions on an upper extremity. Some lesions are best observed, whereas others require treatment with nonoperative measures, lasers, or surgical interventions. A 2-part series is presented to aid the hand surgeon in becoming familiar with these lesions. This part 1 article focuses on vascular neoplasms and malformations. Particular attention is paid to the multiple types of hemangiomas and hemangioendotheliomas, telangiectasias, angiokeratomas, as well as capillary, venous, and lymphatic malformations. Diagnostic tips and clinical photographs are provided to help differentiate among these lesions. In addition, the recommended treatment for each is discussed.

Abstract
Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare benign disease that is characterized by an abnormal proliferation of eccrine glands and vascular elements. It is generally congenital, but it can appear before puberty. It usually presents as a single plaque or nodule, but multiple patch-like lesions are also possible. EAH is mostly asymptomatic, but it is sometimes associated with pain or hyperhidrosis. It generally does not require aggressive treatment, but the lesion can be excised due to pain, enlargement and cosmetic reasons. A 3-week-old Korean female presented with a hemorrhagic skin lesion on the right foot since birth. There was no specific birth history. The lesion first appeared on the third toe of the right foot and quickly spread to almost half of the right foot. Histopathology examination revealed acanthosis in the epidermis and a proliferation of eccrine ducts, glands and capillaries. The eccrine glands were immunohistochemically-positive for carcinoembryonic antigen.

Abstract
Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare, benign cutaneous lesion characterized histologically by a proliferation of eccrine glands and vascular structures-generally capillaries-in the middle and deep dermis. Sudden enlargement of EAH lesions with or without pain has been noted during puberty and pregnancy and has been attributed to hormonal stimulation. We herein describe a case of EAH that became symptomatic in an adolescent girl. A 13-year-old girl presented with pain associated with a sudden enlargement of a previously asymptomatic swelling on her right second toe. She had an 8-year history of an asymptomatic swelling on her right second toe, and the symptoms appeared approximately 1 year after menarche. Physical examination revealed swelling of the plantar surface of her right second toe. The overlying surface was erythematous with a small amount of fine scales. The biopsied tissue showed a nodular proliferation of eccrine glands intimately admixed with numerous small vessels in the deep dermis and subcutaneous fat tissue. Mucin deposition was present in the stroma surrounding the proliferating eccrine coils and ducts and in the upper dermis. A diagnosis of EAH was made. We suggest that hormonal changes during puberty may have played a role in the rapid growth and pain in the present case.

Abstract
Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare, benign tumor characterized by a proliferation of eccrine and vascular structures. We present 2 cases and review the characteristics of this disorder. The first patient was a 33-year-old woman who consulted for a brownish lesion on her back associated with local hyperhidrosis. The second patient was a 25-year-old man with an asymptomatic erythematous lesion on his left palm. In both patients a diagnosis of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma was made based on the histological findings. Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is usually present at birth or develops during childhood. It is typically a solitary lesion and signs and symptoms can vary; diagnosis is therefore based on histological study. The most common site is on the distal parts of limbs. The lesions tend to be asymptomatic, but there may be associated pain and hyperhidrosis. Treatment is not usually necessary except in cases with persistent symptoms, excessive sweating, or cosmetic concerns.
