Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies had identified genetic variants associated with Myocardial Infarction, but results are inconclusive. We examined the association between FII G20210A (rs1799963), FV G1691A (rs6025), FXIII 97G > T (rs11466016), ATR1 A1166C (rs5186) and MTHFR A1298C (rs1801131) polymorphisms and ST elevation Myocardial Infarction in young Mexican individuals. METHODS We included a total of 350 patients with Myocardial Infarction <45 years old and 350 controls matched by age and gender. The polymorphisms were analyzed by PCR-RFLP using specific restriction enzymes. DNA fragments were separated by electrophoresis in 2% gel of agarose and visualized using SYBR green. RESULTS The A1166C (p = 0.004) but not FXIII 97G > T (p = 0.19), G20210A (p = 0.32), G1691A (p = No significant) and A1298C (p = 0.21) polymorphisms were associated with increased risk for ST elevation Myocardial Infarction. Moreover, dyslipidemia, hypertension, smoking and family history of atherothrombotic disease were associated. CONCLUSIONS We found that A1166C represented increased risk for ST elevation Myocardial Infarction. However, G20210A, G1691A, 97G > T, and A1298C were not associated. In addition, we had determined that Glu298Asp, PLA1/A2, TAFI Thr325Ile, ACE I/D, AGT M235T and PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphisms represented increased risk in the same group of patients. However, MTHFR C677T, AGT T174M, FV G1691A, TSP-1 N700S, MTHFR C677T and TAFI 174 M polymorphisms were no associated. Our results suggest that in young patients with ST Myocardial Infarction, those polymorphisms could contribute to premature endothelial dysfunction, atherothrombosis, vasoconstriction, increased platelet aggregation, muscle cell migration and proliferation. Further studies are required to try to better assess gene-gene and gene-modifiable factors interaction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the possible association between AT1R gene polymorphisms and major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) in hypertension patients combined with or without coronary artery disease (CAD) in Xinjiang. METHODS 374 CAD patients and 341 non-CAD individuals were enrolled as study participants and all of them have a hypertension diagnosis. AT1R gene polymorphisms were genotyped by SNPscan™ typing assays. During the follow-up in the clinic or by telephone interview, MACCEs were recorded. Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox survival analyses were used to explore the association between AT1R gene polymorphisms and the occurrence of MACCEs. RESULTS AT1R gene rs389566 was associated with MACCEs. The TT genotype of the AT1R gene rs389566 had a significantly higher probability of MACCEs than the AA + AT genotype (75.2% vs. 24.8%, P = 0.033). Older age (OR = 1.028, 95% CI: 1.009-1.0047, P = 0.003) and TT genotype of rs389566 (OR = 1.770, 95% CI: 1.148-2.729, P = 0.01) were risk factors of MACCEs. AT1R gene rs389566 TT genotype may be a predisposing factor for the occurrence of MACCEs in hypertensive patients. CONCLUSION We should also pay more attention to the prevent of MACCEs in hypertension patients combined with CAD. Especially those elderly hypertensive patients carrying AT1R rs389566 TT genotype requires avoidance of unhealthy lifestyle, better management of blood pressure control and reduce the occurrence of MACCEs.

Effect of rs4646994 polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme on the risk of nonischemic cardiomyopathy. Biosci Rep 2021; 41:230176. Abstract
Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphisms have recently been shown to be associated with risk of developing left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). However, the results were controversial. We aimed to conduct this meta-analysis to further confirm the association between ACE rs4646994 polymorphism and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)/dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Methods: PubMed, Embase, the Chinese National Knowledge Information, and Wanfang databases were searched for eligible studies. The Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to evaluate the quality of included studies. Then we evaluated the association between ACE gene mutation and HCM/DCM by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Subgroup analysis was further performed to explore situations in specialized subjects. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias was assessed to confirm the study reliability. Results: There were 13 studies on DCM (2004 cases and 1376 controls) and 16 studies on HCM (2161 controls and 1192 patients). ACE rs4646994 polymorphism was significantly associated with DCM in all genetic models. However, in HCM, four genetic models (allele model, homozygous model, heterozygous model, and dominant model) showed significant association between ACE rs4646994 polymorphism and DCM. In subgroup analysis, we found that ACE rs4646994 polymorphism was significantly associated with DCM/HCM in Asian population. Finally, we also conducted a cumulative meta-analysis, which indicates that the results of our meta-analysis are highly reliable. Conclusion: ACE rs4646994 polymorphism increases the risk of DCM/HCM in Asians, but not in Caucasians. More case–control studies are needed to strengthen our conclusions and to assess the gene–gene and gene–environment interactions between ACE rs4646994 polymorphism and DCM/HCM.

Abstract
Background Genetic factors in the pathogenesis of cardiomyopathies have received a lot attention during the past two decades. Angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphisms were found to be associated with cardiomyopathies. However, the previous results were inconsistent. The current meta-analysis aims to examine the association of ACE I/D polymorphisms and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Methods Eight studies on DCM (1387 controls and 977 patients) and eight studies on HCM (1055 controls and 827 patients) were included in this meta-analysis. Results The overall data showed no significant association between ACE I/D polymorphism and DCM risk. Further subgroup analysis by ethnicity also did not find a significantly increased risk for D allele carriers among East Asians and Europeans. However, the overall analysis suggested that the D allele carriers might be associated with increased risk of HCM (DD/ID vs. II: OR = 1.69, 95% CI 1.04–2.74, P = 0.03). Conclusion In summary, the meta-analysis indicated that certain ACE I/D polymorphism might be associated with HCM but not DCM susceptibility. Given the limited sample sizes, further large multicenter case-control investigation is needed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Many reported studies have been conducted to investigate the association of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) A1166C gene polymorphism with myocardial infarction (MI) susceptibility. However, the results from those reports are still conflicting. This meta-analysis was performed to study the relationship between AT1R A1166C gene polymorphism and MI risk. METHOD The databases of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched as of 1 March 2012, and eligible investigations were recruited into this meta-analysis. RESULTS Eighteen investigations were identified for the analysis of association between AT1R A1166C gene polymorphism and MI risk, 11 in Caucasians, three in Asians, two in Africans, one in the population of Brazil and one in the population of Durban, South Africa . There was a marked association between AT1R C allele and MI susceptibility for overall populations (odds ratio (OR)=1.12, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.01-1.25, p=0.03), and AT1R AA genotype was associated with a lower risk of MI in overall populations (OR=0.87, 95% CI: 0.78-0.98, p=0.02). However, AT1R A1166C gene polymorphism was not associated with MI risk in the sub-groups of Caucasians, Asians, Africans, Brazil and Durban populations. CONCLUSIONS C allele is a risk factor for the MI susceptibility in overall populations, and AA genotype might be a protective factor against the MI risk in overall populations. However, more case-control association investigations on larger, stratified populations are required in the future.
