Abstract
A preliminary study using a small sample of 20 visually impaired subjects found that psychological characteristics may be important determinants of the subject's acceptance of low-vision aids. The results indicated that the successful use of low-vision aids may be related to positive attitudes toward the use of residual vision and to a lack of depressive symptoms.
