Abstract
Introduction Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a chronic disease that leads to the weakening of a cat's immune system. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) offers therapeutic effects for multiple diseases, the use of PRP and growth factors (GFs) determination could be an alternative treatment to improve the quality of life in these patients. The objectives of this study were to determine and compare the concentration of platelets (PLTs), red blood cells (RBCs) and white blood cells (WBCs) between samples of whole blood (WB), PRP and platelet-poor plasma (PPP) fractions, and to evaluate the concentration of platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB) and transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) in both fractions in FeLV cats using a PRGF®-Endoret® protocol previously standardized in this species. Methods WB was collected from 11 asymptomatic FeLV-positive cats. PRP and PPP was obtained following PRGF®-Endoret® technology according to centrifugation at 265 g for 10 min. Cellular components, RBCs, WBCs, PLTs, and the PDGF-BB and TGF-β1 concentrations in PRP and PPP fractions were determined. Results PLT in the PRP fraction was statistically higher than WB and PPP fraction, with no statistical differences between WB and PPP. PLT concentration increased 1.4 times in PRP fraction compared to WB. Mean platelet volume (MPV) did not differ significantly between the WB, PRP, and PPP fractions. Compared to WB, the absolute numbers of RBCs and WBCs were decreased by 99% and more than 95% in the PRP and PPP fractions, respectively. TGF-ß1 concentrations increased in PRP vs. PPP, with no changes in PDGF-BB. Discussion Based on the degree of PLT enrichment and the absence of RBCs and WBCs, this blood product could be classified as a Pure Platelet-Rich Plasma (P-PRP). The presence of GFs in PRP and PPP samples suggests that the PRGF®-Endoret® methodology is suitable for obtaining PRP in FeLV cats, despite future studies are necessary to optimize the technique, standardize the results and assess clinical efficacy.

Abstract
The main purpose of the present study is to develop an immunosafe fibrin membrane obtained by plasma rich in growth factors technology (is-mPRGF) with improved mechanical properties that could be applied in patients with inflammatory ocular diseases. Blood was drawn from three healthy donors and centrifuged, and the collected PRGF was activated and distributed into two groups: (i) mPRGF: a PRGF membrane maintained at 37 °C for 30 min; (ii) IS5+30: mPRGF incubated at 37 °C for 5 min and then incubated at 56 °C for 30 min. The content of both membranes was analyzed for several growth factors such as IgE and the complement activation, as well as biological activity on different ocular surface cells. Furthermore, the physical and mechanical characterizations were also evaluated. IS5+30 completely reduced the complement activity and decreased the IgE while preserving the concentration of the main growth factors. IS5+30 induced similar biological activity regarding mPRGF on the different ocular surface cells analyzed. Furthermore, no significant differences in release kinetics or fibrin degradation were observed between both membranes. Summarizing, IS5+30 totally reduces complement activity while preserving the concentration of most growth factors and their biological activity. Furthermore, the physical and mechanical properties of the fibrin membrane are preserved after heat inactivation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Face rejuvenation procedures with injectable agents continue to gain popularity. Nowadays, a variety of commercial products are available as filler material. Ideal fillers should be inexpensive, easily obtainable, nontoxic, and biocompatible. The aim of this study is to report a clinical perspective for an appropriate, feasible, and inexpensive protocol of a stable, autologous biological filler for facial volume restoring without any commercial kits. METHODS Eight patients were investigated who underwent facial injection with ABC filler. Eleven ml of whole blood was placed in standard tubes containing anticoagulant and for each patient, 8 tubes were prepared. After the centrifugation at 1630 xg for 5 minutes, the upper plasma was taken, calcium was added and cooled. After the addition of vitamin C, the syringes were incubated at 85 °C for 10 minutes. The autologous biological material obtained was used as filling material. For comparison, FACE-Q satisfaction questionnaires were used before and after the procedure. RESULTS All patients were followed up for a minimum of 4 months. No major complications were recorded. The patient-reported FACE-Q satisfaction and FACE-Q quality of life pre- and post-procedure results showed statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05). Overall satisfaction with the outcome was 89.12 ± 16.73 (range 55-100). CONCLUSIONS ABC filler can be seen as a reliable, inexpensive, and easily obtainable material to restore facial volume with increased patient satisfaction and quality of life scores. We believe that our study will be encouraging to the application of autologous biological fillers for further clinical and scientific studies.
