Abstract
Keloid is an outcome of abnormal cellular response in the wound healing process with excessive fibroblast and collagen deposition in the dermal layer of the skin. It is characterized by a scar showing fibrous outgrowth that grows beyond the original boundaries of the wound. Thus, it is cosmetically and functionally disturbing to the patient. Keloidal development depends on various patient and environmental factors, possibly initiating abnormal wound healing. Due to abnormal wound healing, various aberrant cellular responses are observed during keloid development, like delayed inflammatory response, increased growth factors, varied cytokine level, decreased apoptosis, increased angiogenesis, and imbalanced proteinases. Bacteria and the immune system also play a role in keloid development. Advancements like single-cell RNA sequencing and transcriptomics studies have led to a better understanding of pathogenesis. In line with the complex pathogenesis, the later part of the review covers a detailed analysis of various treatment options employed for keloid, which includes silicone-based topical therapy, drug-based therapy, invasive approach (surgery), and minimally invasive therapies (radiation, laser therapy, and cryotherapy). The advantages and limitations of individual and combination therapies are also discussed. Keloids tend to re-occur after treatment; hence, follow-up is very important, making keloid treatment a complex procedure. Novel therapeutics in keloid have advantages like better efficacy of drugs, less pain, self-administration, and fewer side effects. A few nanotherapeutics advancements, such as microneedles, nanoparticles, liposomes, and exosomes, are discussed in the review.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Pediatric patients can acquire scars from both accidental injury and surgical procedures. While scars cannot be avoided if a full-thickness injury occurs, scar visibility may be minimized through a variety of approaches. In this narrative review, we evaluate the current evidence and propose an algorithm for scar management in pediatric patients. Materials and Methods: A review of the literature was performed for scar management techniques for pediatric patients. Management modalities based on the type of scar and dosing, treatment regimen, and safety profiles are described in this article and used to create a scar management algorithm. Results: The initial step to scar management in the pediatric population involves ensuring minimal wound tension, which can be achieved through making the incision along relaxed skin tension lines, and early, minimal tension wound closure. Subsequent treatments to optimize scar care should begin 2-3 weeks following wound closure and involve the application of silicone gel or sheets and scar massaging. When topical products are insufficient, laser therapy can be utilized for the management of immature erythematous or thick scars. When mature, pathological scars form such as atrophic scars, hyperpigmentation, hypertrophic scars, or keloids, a combination of modalities is recommended. These modalities vary by scar type and include retinoids and dermabrasion for atrophic scars; retinoids, hydroquinone, and laser therapy for hyperpigmentation; and pressure therapy, corticosteroids, and laser therapy for hypertrophic scars and keloids. When mature, pathological scars persist following 12 months of non-invasive therapies, surgical excision should be considered. Conclusions: Several treatment options are available to manage scars in the pediatric population depending on scar type.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intralesional corticosteroid injection (ILCSI) has been proven to successfully treat hypertrophic scars (HTSs) and keloids and attain remission in 50% of keloids. Pain is a significant problem with ILCSI, which can affect treatment compliance and effectiveness. To date, many techniques involving ILCSI have been described and used to achieve scar treatment while reducing side effects. The injection technique remains the most widely available method in many healthcare centres. OBJECTIVE This scoping review explores strategies for alleviating pain while administering ILCSIs for hypertrophic scarring and keloid management. ILCSI is a second-line treatment for HTSs and a first-line treatment for keloids. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA This scoping review included studies where HTSs and keloids were treated with ILCSI and considered diverse demographics and injection methods. This review excludes other methods of corticosteroid drug delivery where injection is not involved and where the pain assessed is unrelated to injection or infiltration of the scar. SOURCES OF EVIDENCE This review systematically searched critical databases from inception to December 2023, including ScienceDirect, PubMed and Web of Science, and handpicked articles traced from available review papers. Only English-language publications focused on pain management during ILCSIs for HTSs and keloids were included. All levels of scientific evidence were considered. An in-depth evaluation of the injection technique, type of analgesia or anaesthesia administered, effectiveness of pain management and overall treatment outcomes was conducted. CHARTING METHODS Citations were compiled in an Excel spreadsheet, with three authors screening the titles and abstracts based on inclusion criteria. Decisions were finalised collaboratively, exclusions were documented and results were presented using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses flow diagram. RESULTS 16 prospective studies, 2 retrospective studies, 1 case study and 15 journal articles were included. These studies examined ILCSI for hypertrophic scarring and keloid treatment. No differences in pain intensity between HTSs and keloids were reported. 11 studies systematically explored pain reduction methods such as topical analgesia, cryoanaesthesia, mixing triamcinolone acetonide with local analgesics, slow infiltration techniques, vibration analgesia and needle-free injectors. CONCLUSION Pain can significantly impact patient compliance and treatment outcomes. This review offers a foundational reference for healthcare providers and researchers in the field of scar management, providing insights into current practices and highlighting areas for future research and development.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids, characterized by protruding scars that extend beyond the original skin damage site, cause significant emotional stress and reduced quality of life. Their exact pathogenesis remains unclear, with various hypotheses including growth factor imbalances and extracellular matrix changes. No single treatment is universally accepted, but multiple modalities like triamcinolone acetonide injection (TAC), laser therapies, and surgery are commonly used. METHODS This retrospective study involved East Asian patients who underwent keloid scar excision between March 2019 and June 2022. Patients were divided into two groups: one receiving only TAC injections and the other a combination of TAC and Nd:YAG laser therapy. The efficacy of treatments was evaluated using the modified Vancouver Scar Scale (mVSS) and the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS), with follow-ups at six and twelve months after operation. RESULTS The study involved 111 patients. Both treatment groups showed significant improvements in mVSS and POSAS scores, but the combination therapy group demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in POSAS scores and lower recurrence rates at 12 months compared to the TAC-only group. However, there was no significant difference in patient satisfaction between the groups. CONCLUSION Dual therapy involving TAC injection and Nd:YAG laser treatment was more effective than TAC injection alone for managing keloid scars after surgery. This combination therapy showed better outcomes in preventing keloid recurrence and improving scar status at 12 months after operation, along with significant improvements in patient-reported outcomes. Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids and hypertrophic scars cause physical and psychosocial problems. A combination of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) may enhance the treatment of pathologic scars, although the evidence base is limited. The authors compared the efficacy and complication rates of combination intralesional TAC and 5-FU with those of monotherapy intralesional TAC or 5-FU for the treatment of keloids and hypertrophic scars. METHODS Embase, MEDLINE, and CENTRAL were searched by two independent reviewers. The primary outcome was treatment efficacy (51% to 100% improvement). Study quality and risk of bias were assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. RESULTS Of 277 articles screened, 13 studies were included, comprising 12 randomized control trials and one nonrandomized study. Six studies compared combination intralesional therapy versus monotherapy 5-FU, and nine studies compared combination intralesional therapy versus monotherapy TAC. The combined group demonstrated superior objective treatment efficacy compared with the monotherapy TAC group (OR, 3.45; 95% CI, 2.22 to 5.35; I 2 = 0%; P < 0.00001) and monotherapy 5-FU group (OR, 4.17; 95% CI, 2.21 to 7.87; I 2 = 0%; P < 0.0001). Telangiectasia was less frequent in combination therapy (OR, 0.24; 95% CI, 0.11 to 0.52; I 2 = 0%; P = 0.0003) compared with monotherapy TAC. CONCLUSIONS Combined intralesional TAC and 5-FU administration demonstrated superior treatment efficacy outcomes compared with monotherapy TAC or 5-FU. Patient-reported outcome measures should be incorporated in the design of future research to justify clinical recommendations. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT Combined TAC and 5-FU has demonstrated superior treatment efficacy outcomes compared to monotherapy TAC or 5-FU in the treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids and hypertrophic scars can cause severe pain, pruritus, and psychological distress. Conventional intralesional corticosteroid treatment with needle injections remains challenging, especially in children with needle phobia. OBJECTIVE We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, tolerability, and patient satisfaction of intralesional treatment with triamcinolone acetonide using a needle-free electronic pneumatic jet injector in children with keloids and hypertrophic scars. METHODS A retrospective study was performed in children with keloids and hypertrophic scars who received intralesional triamcinolone acetonide treatments using an electronic pneumatic jet injector. Effectiveness was evaluated using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale and Global Aesthetic Improvement Score at follow-up versus baseline. Tolerability was assessed with reported adverse effects and injection-related pain using a visual analog scale. Satisfaction questionnaires were used to evaluate treatment-related patient satisfaction. RESULTS Six female patients and five male patients aged 5-17 years, with a total of >118 keloids or hypertrophic scars were included. Electronic pneumatic jet injector treatment led to a significant reduction in the total Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale observer and patient scores compared with baseline, with a median reduction of 28.9% and 23.8%, respectively (p = 0.005; p = 0.009). Median visual analog scale pain scores for electronic pneumatic jet injector treatment were significantly lower compared with needle injections, 3.0 versus 7.0, respectively (p = 0.027). No severe adverse effects were reported. Overall, 6 patients were 'satisfied' and five patients were 'very satisfied' with the treatment. CONCLUSIONS Electronic pneumatic jet injector-assisted intralesional triamcinolone acetonide is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for keloids and hypertrophic scars in children. It should be considered as an alternative non-traumatic delivery method, especially in children with needle phobia or severe pain during previous needle injections.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids and hypertrophic scars are the result of excessive fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition in the wound healing process, leaving patients with irritating and cosmetically displeasing lesions. Despite there being numerous modalities for treatment, keloids are notoriously recalcitrant to therapy and recurrence rates are high. OBJECTIVE Because many keloids begin to develop during childhood and adolescence, it is important to better understand which treatment options may be best suited toward the pediatric population specifically. METHODS We reviewed 13 studies that focus specifically on effectiveness of treatment options for keloids and hypertrophic scars in the pediatric population. These studies cover 545 keloids in 482 patients, all aged 18 and younger. RESULTS Many treatment modalities were used, with multimodal treatment being the most common (76%). There were 92 instances of recurrence, with a total recurrence rate of 16.9%. CONCLUSION Data from the combined studies suggest that keloid development is less common before adolescence and that higher rates of recurrence are observed among patients who have received monotherapy compared with those who received multimodal treatments. More well-designed studies with standardized ways of assessing outcomes are needed to expand our understanding on how to optimally treat keloids in the pediatric population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids are pathologic scars that pose a significant functional and cosmetic burden. They are challenging to treat, despite the multitude of treatment modalities currently available. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to conduct an evidence-based review of all prospective data regarding keloid treatments published between 2010 and 2020. METHODS A systematic literature search of PubMed (National Library of Medicine), Embase (Elsevier), and Cochrane Library (Wiley) was performed in November of 2020. Search strategies with the keywords "keloid" and "treatment" were performed by a medical librarian. The search was limited to prospective studies that were peer-reviewed, reported on clinical outcomes of keloid therapies, and were published in the English language between January 1, 2010, and November 24, 2020. RESULTS A total of 3462 unique citations were identified, of which 108 studies met inclusion criteria. Current literature supports silicone gel or sheeting with corticosteroid injections as first-line therapy for keloids. Adjuvant intralesional 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), bleomycin, or verapamil can be considered, although mixed results have been reported with each. Laser therapy can be used in combination with intralesional corticosteroids or topical steroids with occlusion to improve drug penetration. Excision of keloids with immediate post-excision radiation therapy is an effective option for recalcitrant lesions. Finally, silicone sheeting and pressure therapy have evidence for reducing keloid recurrence. CONCLUSIONS This review was limited by heterogeneity of subject characteristics and study outcome measures, small sample sizes, and inconsistent study designs. Larger and more robust controlled studies are necessary to further understand the variety of existing and emerging keloid treatments, including corticosteroids, cryotherapy, intralesional injections, lasers, photodynamic therapy, excision and radiation, pressure dressings, and others.

The treatment of hypertrophic scars (HTSs) and keloids remains a challenge. Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) is the mainstay treatment for these conditions. Despite its efficacy, TAC has several adverse side effects, including telangiectasias, skin atrophy, pigmentary changes, and skin necrosis. Dissolving microneedles (DMN) use the poke-and-release method to create microchannels that enhance drug delivery to the target tissue in the dermis, without causing pain and with a decreased risk of transmission of blood-borne diseases. To evaluate and compare the efficacy of a TAC-DMN versus a drug-free DMN patch for the treatment of HTSs and keloids, 20 patients (10 with HTSs and 10 with keloids) received a split-scar treatment: one half of the scar length was treated with TAC-DMNs and the other half was treated with drug-free DMN for three sessions at 14-day intervals. Efficacy was assessed by measuring the scar volume through a multispectral imaging system and using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS). The HTSs treated with TAC-DMNs showed a significant reduction in the mean scar volume 2 weeks after the second treatment and 1 month after the third treatment (p = 0.028 and 0.020, respectively), while the HTSs treated with drug-free DMNs showed no significant reduction in the scar volume. Both sides of the keloids showed no significant reduction in mean scar volume. Using the POSAS, significant improvement in the appearance of both halves of the HTSs was observed 1 month after the treatments. A significant improvement (evaluated by POSAS) was also observed in the keloids treated with TAC-DMNs 2 weeks after the second treatment and 1 month after the third treatment. No significant improvement was observed from the patients' perspective as evaluated by POSAS in the keloids treated with drug-free DMNs. However, no significant difference was observed between the treatment and control halves. TAC-DMN is an effective treatment for HTSs. Increasing the dosage and duration of keloid scar treatment is required in future studies to determine whether it would result in a significant therapeutic outcome. Abstract
Significance: This body of work gives a concise and comprehensive overview for the clinician and scientist on the latest treatment modalities for hypertrophic scars (HTS) and keloids in the pediatric population, as well as the most promising methods of prevention currently being investigated. This review will serve as a guide to the clinician for treatment selection and as an efficient tool for the scientist to achieve a comprehensive overview of the scientific literature to guide their future experiments aimed at pathologic scar prevention. Recent Advances: Current studies in the literature suggest carbon dioxide (CO2) laser and E-light (bipolar radiofrequency, intense pulsed light, and cooling) are two of the most effective treatment modalities for HTS, while surgical excision+CO2 laser+triamcinolone injection was one of the most successful treatments for keloids. In animal models, drug impregnated electrospun nanofiber dressings offer encouraging results for HTS prevention, while Kelulut honey showed promising results for keloid prevention. Critical Issues: Treatment outcome reproducibility is hindered by small cohorts of patients, inadequate-follow up, and variability in assessment tools. Prevention studies show multiple ways of achieving the same result, yet fall short of complete prevention. Furthermore, some studies that have purported full prevention have not been validated. Future Directions: To establish a standard of care, large clinical trials of the most successful modalities in small cohorts are needed. The key for prevention will be validation in animal models of the most successful methods, followed by translational and clinical studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Keloids are common fibroproliferative tumors, and their treatment still represents a dilemma. Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) injection is effective, but frequently associated with side effects. Pentoxifyllin (PTX) is a vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic agent. Its intralesional injection in keloids has not been evaluated yet. AIMS Evaluating the efficacy and safety of intralesional PTX versus intralesional TAC and their combination for treatment of keloids. PATIENTS/METHODS Thirty patients with keloids were divided into three equal groups and treated by intralesional injection of TAC, PTX, or their combination (admixed in 1:1 ratio). Injections were repeated every 3 weeks until lesional flattening or for maximum of 5 sessions. The evaluation was done using the Vancouver Scar Scale and the Verbal Rating Scale for pain and itching. RESULTS A significant improvement in VSS was detected in all groups. Significantly better improvements in keloid height, pliability, pain, and itching were detected in the TAC and combination groups than in the PTX group. There was a significantly higher incidence of side effects (atrophy, hypopigmentation, telangiectasia, and precipitation of TAC) in the TAC group than in the combination group, while no side effects were reported in the PTX group. A statistically significant reduction in the number of treatment sessions (required to achieve best results) was detected in patients in the combination group. CONCLUSIONS Intralesional injection of PTX is a potentially helpful, safe, and well-tolerated therapeutic tool for keloids, but with lower efficacy than intralesional TAC when used solely. Combining PTX and TAC produces significantly better results for keloid treatment and lowers the risk of TAC-induced side effects.

Abstract
AIM Intralesional triamcinolone is a gold standard in treating the keloids to comparation its effectiveness versus intralesional 5-fluorouracil intralesional verapamil and intralesional platelet-rich plasma. PATIENTS AND METHODS Several 160-cases were categorized into four groups of each Group-Containing 40 cases. Group-A (control) treated with intralesional triamcinolone and Group-B intralesional verapamil, Group-C intralesional 5-fluorouracil, and Group-D intralesional platelet-rich plasma. Patients were assessed for clinical response based on a decrease in the patient and observer scar assessment scale (POSAS) at baseline and the end of treatment. RESULTS The mean base-line POSAS score was 91 ± 10.98 SD check-in Group-A, 90 ± 10.85 in Group-B, 89 ± 10.06 in Group-C, and 92 ± 10.84 in Group-D.POSAS score after 24 weeks 36 ± 12.74 in Group-A, 29 ± 10.91 in Group-B, 39 ± 13.74 in Group-C, 36 ± 12.74 in Group-D. Statistically, a significant difference was observed between groups. CONCLUSION Intralesional verapamil reported to be the most effective therapy and platelet-rich plasma was effective as intralesional triamcinolone acetonide with no serious side effects and 5-fluorouracil was less effective in treating the keloids.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hypertrophic scars are one of the main complications that affect the quality of life of patients after burns. Many methods have been shown to be effective in the treatment of hypertrophic scars, such as ablative fractional CO2 laser (AFCL) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). However, there are few studies on the effect of the combined application of these measures. The purpose of this study was to explore the therapeutic effect of AFCL combined with PRP on hypertrophic burn scars. METHODS A retrospective clinical observation study was conducted on 50 patients with hypertrophic burn scars. The AFCL+PRP group included 31 patients who received AFCL combined with PRP treatment; the AFCL group included 19 patients who received AFCL treatment only. The University of North Carolina 4P Scar Scale (UNC4P) and the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) scores that were collected before each treatment were used as indicators of the effectiveness of the previous treatment. The scores recorded at the second, fourth and seventh months were analysed. RESULTS The demographic data of the 2 groups were not significantly different. Before treatment, there was no difference in the UNC4P and VSS scores between the 2 groups. There was a significant decline in the UNC4P and VSS total scores over 6 months in both groups (p < 0.05) and scores in the 2 groups were comparable after 3 and 6 months (p < 0.05). UNC4P scores in the AFCL+PRP group decreased from a mean of 8.26 to 2.61 (p < 0.05) with a concomitant drop in VSS scores from a mean of 11.74 to 6.06 (p < 0.01). In the AFCL group UNC4P and VSS scores decreased from 7.68 to 4.63 (p < 0.05) and from 10.89 to 8.16 (p < 0.05), respectively. The sub-items of these 2 assessments were analysed and the results suggest that AFCL combined with PRP can comprehensively improve scarring. CONCLUSIONS This study shows that PRP is an effective adjunct for AFCL in the treatment of hypertrophic burn scars and that the combination of PRP and AFCL proved to be more useful than AFCL alone. This combination may be a new and effective clinical practice for the treatment of scars. However, larger and higher-level clinical studies are still needed to determine its efficacy and possible mechanisms.

Abstract
Surgical excision combined with postoperative radiotherapy is considered one of the most radical but most effective keloid therapeutic option. However, radiotherapy may not be appropriate for all keloid patients. In this study, we propose an alternate approach to prevent keloid recurrence and provide preliminary assessment in clinical efficacy of this treatment for keloids. Forty consecutive patients with different keloid sites underwent excision without postoperative radiation. After surgery, the tension offloading device was used at least 6 months for the purpose of continuous tension reduction at surgery incision. Scars were assessed independently using scar scale at before and 24-month follow-up. Overall, 38 patients completed this research. Clinical results showed that 35 patients achieved healing with an esthetic appearance at 24-month follow-up. Three patients showed relapse and the recurrence rate was 7.9%. Both of VSS (Vancouver Scar Scale) and JSW (Japan Scar Workshop Scar Scale) scores decreased significantly at 24-month follow-up visit than before. No severe complications were reported. Using the tension offloading device could greatly decrease tension on the surgical incision. The technique of continuous tension reduction could be used as an alternative method to prevent keloid recurrence under the condition of without radiotherapy.

Abstract
The aetiology of keloids is becoming clearer, but many questions remain, including about the most optimal treatment. Current therapies include surgical excision, radiotherapy, and various pharmaceutical drugs. However, none of these drugs are keloid-specific. Moreover, all current interventions are associated with high recurrence rates. Here, we review the pharmaceutical interventions that are currently available. All are based on the fact that keloids are an expanding solid mass with intense chronic inflammation at its advancing edges. Consequently, current pharmaceuticals aim to reduce the mass and/or symptoms of keloids, similar to surgery and radiotherapy. They include chemotherapies, immunotherapies, volume-reducing therapies, and anti-inflammatory therapies. We also describe new advances in keloid pharmaceuticals. They include drugs that were designed to treat systemic diseases such as hypertension or breast cancer but were found to also treat keloids. Furthermore, recent progress in genetic, epigenetic, and stem cell therapies suggests that they could become useful in the keloid field. This review of pharmaceutical advances will hopefully promote additional research and the development of effective and specific pharmaceuticals for keloids.

Abstract
Keloids are pathological scars presenting as nodular lesions that extend beyond the area of injury. They do not spontaneously regress, often continuing to grow over time. The abnormal wound-healing process underlying keloid formation results from the lack of control mechanisms self-regulating cell proliferation and tissue repair. Keloids may lead to cosmetic disfigurement and functional impairment and affect the quality of life. Although several treatments were reported in the literature, no universally effective therapy was found to date. The most common approach is intralesional corticosteroid injection alone or in combination with other treatment modalities. Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) is the most commonly used intralesional corticosteroid. The aim of this article was to review the use of TAC, alone or in combination, in the treatment of keloid scars. The response to corticosteroid injection alone is variable with 50-100% regression and a recurrence rate of 33% and 50% after 1 and 5 years, respectively. Compared to verapamil, TAC showed a faster and more effective response even though with a higher complication rate. TAC combined with verapamil was proved to be effective with statistically significant overall improvements of scars over time and long-term stable results. TAC and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) intralesional injections were found to achieve comparable outcomes when administered alone, although 5-FU was more frequently associated with side effects. Conversely, the combination of 5-FU and TAC was more effective and showed fewer undesirable effects compared to TAC or 5-FU alone. Several kinds of laser treatments were reported to address keloids; however, laser therapy alone was burdened with a high recurrence rate. Better results were described by combining CO2, pulsed-dye or Nd: YAG lasers with TAC intralesional injections. Further options such as needle-less intraepidermal drug delivery are being explored, but more studies are needed to establish safety, feasibility and effectiveness of this approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Keloids are reportedly rare at the extremes of life. We sought to describe the epidemiology of pediatric keloids seen at the plastic surgery outpatient department of the University College Hospital, Ibadan. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed all children younger than 19 years who presented with nonburn keloids between 2008 and 2014. Data were obtained on age; duration, size, and location of the keloid; family history; mode of treatment; and outcome. Outcome variables were recurrence and wound complications. Data were analyzed using the Pearson chi-square test for discreet variables and the independent-sample t test for continuous variables. P < .05 was taken as statistically significant. RESULTS Within the review period, 304 patients presented with keloids, of whom 40 (13.1%) were younger than 19 years. There was a female preponderance (n = 23, 57.5%). The mean age at onset of the keloid was 9.3 years (range 3 months-18 years). Thirty (75%) patients had keloids in the head and neck region. Keloids were sporadic in 31 (77.5%) patients. Nineteen (47.5%) patients had multimodal treatment for keloid. The recurrence rate was 20%. Recurrence was significantly associated with the size of the lesion (P = .003). CONCLUSION Keloids during childhood are not rare. More attention should be paid to the management of keloids in this age group.
