Abstract
The real-time monitoring of health conditions of humans is a long-lasting topic, but there are two major challenges. First, many biomedical applications accept only implanted sensors. Second, tissue-like soft sensors often suffer from viscoelasticity-induced signal drift, causing inaccurate measurements. Here, we report a wireless and drift-free sensory system enabled by a low-creep polyelectrolyte elastomer. The system consists of the iontronic pressure sensors incorporating inductance-capacitance (LC) oscillators, exhibiting combined low drift ratio, high Q factor, high robustness to interferences, and wide-range measurement, superior to other capacitive sensors using regular dielectrics or ionogels. We have recorded 14-day orthodontic loads of two subjects using the system, showing pressure decreasing from 300 to 50 kPa and torque from 12.5 to 0.5 N·mm. The wireless, drift-free sensory system may be extended to other implants for long-term and accurate sensing.

Abstract
As one of the core parts of the Internet-of-things (IOTs), multimodal sensors have exhibited great advantages in fields such as human-machine interaction, electronic skin, and environmental monitoring. However, current multimodal sensors substantially introduce a bloated equipment architecture and a complicated decoupling mechanism. In this work we propose a multimodal fusion sensing platform based on a power-dependent piecewise linear decoupling mechanism, allowing four parameters to be perceived and decoded from the passive wireless single component, which greatly broadens the configurable freedom of a sensor in the IOT. A systematic model is employed to analyze the linear sensing properties and ensure the feasibility of the scheme. The excitation power dependence provides an efficient and quantitative linear decoupling strategy of unidentified combinations for multiple stimuli. As a validation for a wearable device such as electronic skin (e-skin), the functionalized sensing film polyaniline/graphene oxide (PANI/GO) is served to synchronously monitor humidity, temperature, ultraviolet, and proximity through the mapping in resonant frequency (fs). Compared with the output errors of ∼18.00%, ∼17.50%, ∼15.00%, and ∼20.00%, the maximum experimental errors of temperature, humidity, ultraviolet, and proximity are 5.70%, 4.00%, 5.00%, and 8.30% after decoupling, respectively. In general, the developed single-component multimodal fusion sensing platform offers a strategic advantage for a miniaturization, passive wireless, and inexpensive (less than $1) signal identification system with a facile circuit layout.

Abstract
The surge of flexible, biointegrated electronics has inspired continued research efforts in designing and developing chip-less and wireless devices as soft and mechanically compliant interfaces to the living systems. In recent years, innovations in materials, devices, and systems have been reported to address challenges surrounding this topic to empower their reliable operation for monitoring physiological signals. This perspective provides a brief overview of recent works reporting various chip-less electronics for sensing and actuation in diverse application scenarios. We summarize wireless signal/data/power transmission strategies, key considerations in materials design and selection, as well as successful demonstrations of sensors and actuators in wearable and implantable forms. The final section provides an outlook to the future direction down the road for performance improvement and optimization. These versatile, inexpensive, and low-power device concepts can serve as alternative strategies to existing digital wireless electronics, which will find broad applications as bidirectional biointerfaces in basic biomedical research and clinical practices.

Abstract
Current evidence suggests that the intestine as the new frontier for human health directly impacts both our physical and mental health. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop the intelligent tool for the enhanced diagnosis and treatment of intestinal diseases. During the past 20 years, capsule robots have opened new avenues for research and clinical applications, potentially revolutionizing human health monitor, disease diagnosis and treatment. In this review, we summarize the research progress of edible multifunctional capsule robots in intestinal diseases. To begin, we introduce the correlation between the intestinal microbiome, intestinal gas and human diseases. After that, we focus on the technical structure of edible multifunctional robots. Subsequently, the biomedical applications in the monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of intestinal diseases are discussed in detail. Last but not least, the main challenges of multifunctional capsule robots during the development process are summarized, followed by a vision for future development opportunities.

Abstract
Microrobots possessing multifunctional integration are desired for therapeutics and biomedicine applications. However, existing microrobots with desired functionalities need to be fabricated through complex procedures due to their constrained volume, limited manufacturing processes, and lack of effective in vivo observation methods. Inspired by bubbles exhibiting various abilities, we report magnetic air bubble microrobots with simpler structures to simultaneously integrate multiple functions, including microcargo delivery, multimode locomotion, imaging, and biosensing. Contributed by buoyancy and magnetic actuation to overcome obstacles, flexible three-dimensional locomotion is implemented, guaranteeing the integrity of micro-objects adsorbed on the surface of the air bubble microrobot. Introducing air microbubbles enhances the ultrasound imaging capability of microrobots in the vascular system of mice in vivo, facilitating ample medical applications. Moreover, air-liquid reactions endow microrobots with rapid pH biosensing. This work provides a unique strategy to utilize relatively simple air bubbles to achieve the complex functions of microrobots for biomedical applications.

Abstract
Extremely low-frequency (ELF) electromagnetic (EM) waves adeptly propagate in harsh cross-medium environments, overcoming rapid decay that hinders high-frequency counterparts. Traditional antennas, however, encounter challenges concerning size, efficiency, and power. Here, drawing inspiration from nature, we present a groundbreaking piezo-actuated, bionic flapping-wing magnetic-dipole resonator (BFW-MDR), operating in the electro-mechano-magnetic coupling mechanism, designed for efficient ELF EM wave transmission. The unique rigid-flexible hybrid flapping-wing structure magnifies rotation angles of anti-phase magnetic dipoles by tenfold, leading to constructive superposition of emitted magnetic fields. Consequently, the BFW-MDR exhibits a remarkable quality factor of 288 and an enhanced magnetic field emission of 514 fT at 100 meters with only 6.9 mW power consumption, surpassing traditional coil antennas by three orders of magnitude. The communication rate is doubled by the ASK+PSK modulation method. Its robust performance in cross-medium communication, even amidst various interferences, underscores its potential as a highly efficient antenna for underwater and underground applications.

Abstract
Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) offers a non-invasive evaluation of the digestive system, eliminating the need for sedation and the risks associated with conventional endoscopic procedures. Its significance lies in diagnosing gastrointestinal tissue irregularities, especially in the small intestine. However, existing commercial WCE devices face limitations, such as the absence of autonomous lesion detection and treatment capabilities. Recent advancements in micro-electromechanical fabrication and computational methods have led to extensive research in sophisticated technology integration into commercial capsule endoscopes, intending to supersede wired endoscopes. This Review discusses the future requirements for intelligent capsule robots, providing a comparative evaluation of various methods' merits and disadvantages, and highlighting recent developments in six technologies relevant to WCE. These include near-field wireless power transmission, magnetic field active drive, ultra-wideband/intrabody communication, hybrid localization, AI-based autonomous lesion detection, and magnetic-controlled diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, we explore the feasibility for future "capsule surgeons".

Abstract
Magnetic microrobots, with their small size and agile maneuverability, are well-suited for navigating the intricate and confined spaces within the human body. In vivo cargo delivery within the context of microrobotics involves the use of microrobots to transport and administer drugs and cells directly to the targeted regions within a living organism. The principal aim is to enhance the precision, efficiency, and safety of therapeutic interventions. Despite their potential, there is a shortage of comprehensive reviews on the use of magnetic microrobots for in vivo cargo delivery from both research and engineering perspectives, particularly those published after 2019. This review addresses this gap by disentangling recent advancements in magnetic microrobots for in vivo cargo delivery. It summarizes their actuation platforms, structural designs, cargo loading and release methods, tracking methods, navigation algorithms, and degradation and retrieval methods. Finally, it highlights potential research directions. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the current landscape of magnetic microrobot technologies for in vivo cargo delivery. It highlights their present implementation methods, capabilities, and prospective research directions. The review also examines significant innovations and inherent challenges in biomedical applications.

Abstract
Implantable sensors can directly interface with various organs for precise evaluation of health status. However, extracting signals from such sensors mainly requires transcutaneous wires, integrated circuit chips, or cumbersome readout equipment, which increases the risks of infection, reduces biocompatibility, or limits portability. Here, we develop a set of millimeter-scale, chip-less, and battery-less magnetic implants paired with a fully integrated wearable device for measuring biophysical and biochemical signals. The wearable device can induce a large amplitude damped vibration of the magnetic implants and capture their subsequent motions wirelessly. These motions reflect the biophysical conditions surrounding the implants and the concentration of a specific biochemical depending on the surface modification. Experiments in rat models demonstrate the capabilities of measuring cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) viscosity, intracranial pressure, and CSF glucose levels. This miniaturized system opens the possibility for continuous, wireless monitoring of a wide range of biophysical and biochemical conditions within the living organism.

Abstract
Untethered capsules hold clinical potential for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. Although considerable progress has been achieved recently in this field, the constraints imposed by the narrow spatial structure of the capsule and complex gastrointestinal tract environment cause many open-ended problems, such as poor active motion and limited medical functions. In this work, we describe the development of small-scale magnetically driven capsules with a distinct magnetic soft valve made of dual-layer ferromagnetic soft composite films. A core technological advancement achieved is the flexible opening and closing of the magnetic soft valve by using the competitive interactions between magnetic gradient force and magnetic torque, laying the foundation for the functional integration of both drug release and sampling. Meanwhile, we propose a magnetic actuation strategy based on multi-frequency response control and demonstrate that it can achieve effective decoupled regulation of the capsule's global motion and local responses. Finally, through a comprehensive approach encompassing ideal models, animal ex vivo models, and in vivo assessment, we demonstrate the versatility of the developed magnetic capsules and their multiple potential applications in the biomedical field, such as targeted drug delivery and sampling, selective dual-drug release, and light/thermal-assisted therapy.

Abstract
Millimeter-scale animals such as Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila larvae, zebrafish, and bees serve as powerful model organisms in the fields of neurobiology and neuroethology. Various methods exist for recording large-scale electrophysiological signals from these animals. Existing approaches often lack, however, real-time, uninterrupted investigations due to their rigid constructs, geometric constraints, and mechanical mismatch in integration with soft organisms. The recent research establishes the foundations for 3-dimensional flexible bioelectronic interfaces that incorporate microfabricated components and nanoelectronic function with adjustable mechanical properties and multidimensional variability, offering unique capabilities for chronic, stable interrogation and stimulation of millimeter-scale animals and miniature tissue constructs. This review summarizes the most advanced technologies for electrophysiological studies, based on methods of 3-dimensional flexible bioelectronics. A concluding section addresses the challenges of these devices in achieving freestanding, robust, and multifunctional biointerfaces.
