Abstract
BACKGROUND Telehealth has grown, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, improving access for those in remote or underserved areas. However, its implementation faces technological, practical, and interpersonal barriers. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to identify and consolidate best practices for telehealth delivery, specifically for video call sessions, by synthesizing the insights of health care professionals across various disciplines. METHODS We first identified 15 common telehealth barriers from a preceding scoping review. Subsequently, a modified Delphi method was used, involving 9 health care professionals (physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, and midwife) with telehealth experience in qualitative interviews and 2 iterative rounds of web-based surveys to form consensus. RESULTS This study addressed 15 telehealth barriers and identified 105 best practices. Among these, 20 are technology-related and 85 concern health care practices. Emphasis was placed on setting up telehealth environments, ensuring safety, building relationships and trust, using nonmanual methods, and enhancing observation and assessment skills. Best practice recommendations for dealing with patients or caregiver skepticism or lack of telehealth-specific knowledge were developed. Further, approaches for unstable networks and privacy and IT security issues were identified. Areas with fewer best practices were the lack of technology skills or technology access, unreliability of hardware and software, increased workload, and a lack of caregiver support. CONCLUSIONS This guide of best practices serves as an actionable resource for health care providers to navigate the complexities of telehealth. Despite a small participant sample and the potential for profession-specific biases, the findings provide a foundation for improving telehealth services and inform future research for its application and education.

Abstract
BackgroundA field of study that uses telerehabilitation (TR) is neurorehabilitation; however, standards for medical and technological applications, medicolegal and ethical regulations, and other aspects of neuro-TR are still being developed.ObjectiveTo address the prerequisites and barriers for implementing TR in neurorehabilitation in the light of present findings.MethodsA narrative review was conducted based on specific questions about the prerequisites for neuro-TR and barriers to its implication. According to a foreground search strategy in the context of neurorehabilitation using TR in neurological patient population, PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane databases were searched and reviewed.ResultsBarriers and prerequisites for neuro-TR were mostly grouped under the categories of administrative/organizational, human (beneficiaries/providers), technical, and ethical. Apart from the technical framework, knowledge and the presence of an administrative leader responsible for overseeing TR are crucial prerequisites. The internet and technological constraints rank highest among the barriers.ConclusionSince neuro-TR is relatively new with minimal guidelines and regulations, highly technologic, and lack of established practices, it is imperative to determine and fully comprehend the criteria for its uses. After the prerequisites are established, it is imperative to recognize and address implementation constraints, which may differ depending on the community's infrastructure and neurologic condition.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Telerehabilitation is a promising avenue to enhance post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA) rehabilitation by improving accessibility, convenience and cost-effectiveness. Despite its potential benefits, its application in the context of TKA in Iran is in its early stages, lacking comprehensive studies on feasibility, acceptance and programme adherence. This article outlines a protocol for an open-label, parallel-group, randomised controlled trial investigating the impact of a 4 week telerehabilitation programme alongside usual care. METHODS Thirty patients (aged 50-90) undergoing TKA for severe Knee Osteoarthritis at Atiyeh Hospital in Tehran, Iran, will be recruited using block randomisation. Participants will be assigned to either the intervention group, receiving telerehabilitation or the control group without telerehabilitation. The intervention will include virtual physiotherapy sessions thrice weekly, lasting 30-45 min each, over 4 weeks. The primary objective is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of telerehabilitation, measured through recruitment and attrition rates, questionnaire completion rates, patient satisfaction using appropriate questionnaire and adherence to the intervention. Secondary outcomes encompass four Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score questionnaire subscales (function in Activities of Daily Living, Pain, Symptoms, Quality of Life). Patient global assessment will use a standardised question. An online survey will evaluate walking assistant device usage, exercise adherence and adverse events. The number of individuals receiving in-person rehabilitation will be documented after the first postoperative surgeon visit. Assessments occur at baseline and 4 weeks postsurgery. ANALYSIS Statistical analysis, including independent samples t-test, paired samples t-test, χ2 test, Fisher's exact test, analysis of covariance and multiple linear regression, will use SPSS software version 16, with significance set at p<0.05. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Approved by AJA University of Medical Sciences Ethics Committee (IR.AJAUMS.REC.1402.126), trial results will be presented to relevant groups and published in peer-reviewed journals. Abstract
INTRODUCTION The evidence on the utility and effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions delivered via telerehabilitation is growing rapidly. Telerehabilitation is expected to have a key role in rehabilitation in the future. AIM The aim of this evidence-based position paper (EBPP) is to improve PRM physicians' professional practice in telerehabilitation to be delivered to improve functioning and to reduce activity limitations and/or participation restrictions in individuals with a variety of disabling health conditions. METHODS To produce recommendations for PRM physicians on telerehabilitation, a systematic review of the literature and a consensus procedure by means of a Delphi process have been performed involving the delegates of all European countries represented in the UEMS PRM Section. RESULTS The systematic literature review is reported together with the 32 recommendations resulting from the Delphi procedure. CONCLUSIONS It is recommended that PRM physicians deliver rehabilitation services remotely, via digital means or using communication technologies to eligible individuals, whenever required and feasible in a variety of health conditions in favor of the patient and his/her family, based on evidence of effectiveness and in compliance with relevant regulations. This EBPP represents the official position of the European Union through the UEMS PRM Section and designates the professional role of PRM physicians in telerehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the growing relevance of telehealth in health care. Assessing health care and nursing students' telehealth competencies is crucial for its successful integration into education and practice. OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess students' perceived telehealth knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences. In addition, we aimed to examine students' preferences for telehealth content and teaching methods within their curricula. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional web-based study in May 2022. A project-specific questionnaire, developed and refined through iterative feedback and face-validity testing, addressed topics such as demographics, personal perceptions, and professional experience with telehealth and solicited input on potential telehealth course content. Statistical analyses were conducted on surveys with at least a 50% completion rate, including descriptive statistics of categorical variables, graphical representation of results, and Kruskal Wallis tests for central tendencies in subgroup analyses. RESULTS A total of 261 students from 7 bachelor's and 4 master's health care and nursing programs participated in the study. Most students expressed interest in telehealth (180/261, 69% very or rather interested) and recognized its importance in their education (215/261, 82.4% very or rather important). However, most participants reported limited knowledge of telehealth applications concerning their profession (only 7/261, 2.7% stated profound knowledge) and limited active telehealth experience with various telehealth applications (between 18/261, 6.9% and 63/261, 24.1%). Statistically significant differences were found between study programs regarding telehealth interest (P=.005), knowledge (P<.001), perceived importance in education (P<.001), and perceived relevance after the pandemic (P=.004). Practical training with devices, software, and apps and telehealth case examples with various patient groups were perceived as most important for integration in future curricula. Most students preferred both interdisciplinary and program-specific courses. CONCLUSIONS This study emphasizes the need to integrate telehealth into health care education curricula, as students state positive telehealth attitudes but seem to be not adequately prepared for its implementation. To optimally prepare future health professionals for the increasing role of telehealth in practice, the results of this study can be considered when designing telehealth curricula.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aging is associated with changes in the musculoskeletal system, including increased susceptibility to spine malalignments. Utilizing corrective exercises with a therapeutic emphasis can be beneficial in the elderly with thoracic spine hyperkyphosis. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the effects of six weeks of telerehabilitation-based respiratory and corrective exercises on quality of life, disability, thoracic kyphosis, craniovertebral angle, shoulder angle, cranial angle, and chest expansion in the elderly with thoracic spine hyperkyphosis. METHODS In this clinical trial, a total of 40 participants aged 60 and above with thoracic hyperkyphosis were randomly divided into the control (N = 20) and experimental (N = 20) groups. The experimental group performed the corrective exercises for six weeks (3 sessions per week). The control group performed general stretching exercises during the same time period. We measured the outcomes of quality of life, disability, thoracic kyphosis, craniovertebral angle, shoulder angle, cranial angle, and lung expansion before and after the intervention. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was employed to analyze the data. A P-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS Quality of life (P < 0.001, Effect Size (ES): 0.44), chest expansion (P < 0.001, ES: 0.56), thoracic kyphosis angle (P < 0.001, ES: 0.31), craniovertebral (P < 0.001, ES: 0.33), cranial (P < 0.001, ES: 0.38), and shoulder (P = 0.005, ES: 0.20) angles were significantly improved in the experimental group as compared with controls. However, no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of physical ability (P = 0.251, ES: 0.04). CONCLUSION It is therefore recommended that online corrective exercises be used in the rehabilitation protocol to improve the quality of life, posture, chest expansion, and disability in the elderly with thoracic kyphosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Telerehabilitation is increasingly being used to meet the rehabilitation needs of situations where face-to-face therapy is not possible. Nevertheless, reports on barriers and facilitators of implementing this method from the perspective of therapists still need to be made available. PURPOSE To investigate the experiences of hand therapists when implementing telerehabilitation, examining the difficulties, barriers, and facilitators encountered during its implementation. STUDY DESIGN Qualitative study. METHODS This study used a purposive sampling method to recruit therapists with varying experiences in telerehabilitation and conducted semi-structured interviews. Data collection and analysis continued iteratively until thematic saturation was achieved. A total of 14 therapists were interviewed via Zoom. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and qualitatively analyzed using thematic analysis. The process of interpretive description guided interviews and analysis of the interviews to identify key barriers and facilitators in providing telerehabilitation. RESULTS/DISCUSSION Six main themes and 10 corresponding sub-themes were constructed concerning facilitators and barriers to telerehabilitation: factors related to the patient, therapy, therapists, injury, technology, and policy. Therapists implemented different coping strategies in their interventions and measurements to facilitate treatment. However, some interventions, such as orthotic fabrication, could not be done online. Educating therapists, providing a standard method, and integrating with in-person rehabilitation can overcome the barriers to telerehabilitation in hand therapy. CONCLUSIONS Technology was the main facilitator and, on the other hand, a barrier to providing online hand therapy interventions. Therapists generally reported high satisfaction and usability of this method. Despite all barriers, telerehabilitation can be implemented as a part of hand therapy interventions alongside face-to-face therapy as a hybrid method. The barriers and facilitators experienced and raised by therapists can be added to what is already known regarding telerehabilitation in hand therapy. They might be applied to guide therapeutic procedures and upcoming studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The effects of unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP) are largely observed in the upper limb (UL), which represents the main focus of rehabilitation for this disorder. Thanks to an increment in home training and progress in technology innovative systems have been created. The Tele-UPCAT (Tele-monitored UPper Limb Children Action Observation Training) platform is dedicated to the delivery at home of a program for UL rehabilitation, based on action observation therapy (AOT). AIM This study aimed to investigate the immediate effectiveness of Tele-UPCAT for promoting UL skills in children with UCP and to determine if immediate effects were retained in the medium and long term. DESIGN Tele-UPCAT was conducted on an intention-to-treat basis and was proposed as a randomized, allocation concealed (waitlist controlled) and evaluator-blinded clinical trial with two investigative arms: intensive in-home AOT program and standard care (SC). SETTING This is a home-based AOT program delivered with a customized ICT platform. POPULATION Thirty children (mean age 11.61±3.55 years) with confirmed diagnosis of spastic UCP with predominant UL involvement and cognitive level within or at normal limits were enrolled in this study. Orthopedic surgery or an intramuscular botulinum toxin A injection in the UL within 6 months prior to enrolment represented an exclusion criteria. METHODS Participants were randomized using concealed random allocation. They were assessed according to the study design with the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), the Box and Block Test (BBT) and the Melbourne Assessment 2 (MA2). Linear mixed models were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS A significant difference between the AOT and SC groups was identified immediately after the training on the AHA (6.406 [2.73] P=0.021) with an effect size (ES) of 1.99, and for the BBT of the less affected hand (9.826 [4.535] P=0.032) with an ES of 1.44. These effects were sustained at medium and long term. CONCLUSIONS This study supports the effectiveness of AOT home training in promoting UL skills in children with UCP, with immediate effects lasting for 6 months. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT This should encourage the use of technology for rehabilitative purposes and further applications of the AOT paradigm.

Abstract
PURPOSE Telerehabilitation has increasingly been used since the COVID-19 pandemic but with limited guidance available on undertaking physical assessments using remote methods. We aimed to provide such guidance by developing a Telerehab Toolkit, an online information and training resource for practitioners, patients, and carers on telerehabilitation for people with physical disabilities and movement impairment. MATERIALS AND METHODS Development and evaluation of the toolkit were informed by the Knowledge to Action framework and took place iteratively in two phases-knowledge creation and action. Information was collated from various sources including literature review, online survey, service evaluation, and focus group discussions. The toolkit has been evaluated using think-aloud interviews, e-mail and social media feedback from users, and analytics data on user engagement with the website. RESULTS The Telerehab Toolkit focuses on remote physical assessments, and contains information on technology, digital skills, remote assessment tools, information governance, and safety for telerehabilitation. Resources include top tips from practitioners and patients, how-to guides, checklists, videos, and links to evidence. CONCLUSIONS The Telerehab Toolkit has been well-received by practitioners, healthcare students, patients, and carers, is being disseminated widely, and is freely available (www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/telerehab). IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONTelerehabilitation has been increasingly used since the COVID-19 pandemic, but with limited guidance and training for practitioners on undertaking safe and effective remote physical assessments.The Telerehab Toolkit has been developed iteratively using the Knowledge to Action framework; it is a free online resource for practitioners and patients with specific guidance on telerehabilitation for physical disabilities and movement impairment.It is anticipated that the resource will help to improve the knowledge, skills, and confidence of the current and future rehabilitation workforce.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Guidance is limited for training protocols that support stakeholders who are new to participating in telerehabilitation interventions using videoconferencing software. OBJECTIVE To explore stakeholders' experiences participating in a group-based intervention during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic using a videoconferencing software (Zoom). DESIGN Ad hoc exploratory thematic analysis. SETTING Community-based telerehabilitation. PARTICIPANTS Stakeholders included group members (n = 8) who were low-income adults with chronic stroke (≥3 mo) and mild to moderate disability (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale ≤ 16), group leaders (n = 4), and study staff (n = 4). INTERVENTION Group-based intervention, ENGAGE, delivered using videoconferencing technology. ENGAGE blends social learning and guided discovery to facilitate community and social participation. OUTCOMES AND MEASURES Semistructured interviews. RESULTS Stakeholders included group members (ages 26-81 yr), group leaders (ages 32-71 yr), and study staff (ages 23-55 yr). Group members characterized ENGAGE as learning, doing, and connecting with others who shared their experience. Stakeholders identified social advantages and disadvantages to the videoconferencing environment. Attitudes toward technology, past technology experiences, the amount of time allotted for training, group size, physical environments, navigation of technology disruptions, and design of the intervention workbook were facilitators for some and barriers for others. Social support facilitated technology access and intervention engagement. Stakeholders recommended training structure and content. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE Tailored training protocols may support stakeholders who are participating in telerehabilitation interventions using new software or devices. Future studies that identify specific tailoring variables will advance the development of telerehabilitation training protocols. What This Article Adds: These findings provide stakeholder-identified barriers and facilitators, in addition to stakeholder-informed recommendations, for technology training protocols that may support uptake of telerehabilitation in occupational therapy.

Abstract
Our first goal is to understand the research status and popularity of telerehabilitation research for stroke survivors since 2012; the second goal is to analyze the research trends and frontiers in this field, and provide a scientific basis for the future application of telerehabilitation technology in patients with poststroke functional defects. We searched the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) for literature on telerehabilitation for stroke survivors published from 2012 to 2022. The included articles were visually analyzed using CiteSpace6.1.6R (64-bit). In total, 968 eligible articles were included in this study. In the past 10 years, the number of papers published on telerehabilitation after stroke has been increasing annually, with the largest number of papers published in the United States and Australia, with 101 papers published by Chinese scholars. Some subsets of cooperative networks have been formed among major research institutions and their authors, but the scale remains small, and academic exchanges and cooperation need to be strengthened further. Research on virtual reality (VR) technology and rehabilitation robot technology is popular, and the choice of time and intensity of rehabilitation exercises, patients' participation in rehabilitation exercises, and care are also worth attention. In the last 10 years, research on telerehabilitation technology in the field of rehabilitation for stroke survivors has steadily developed, and is characterized by multidisciplinary joint development. Countries around the world can combine their own characteristics and advantages, strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation with mature research institutions or authors, and explore suitable poststroke remote rehabilitation technologies and service models in different environments.

Abstract
RATIONALE, AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Telerehabilitation was used to ensure continued provision of care during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there was a lack of guidance on how to use it safely and effectively for people with physical disabilities and movement impairment. In this service evaluation, we aimed to collate information on practitioner and patient experiences, challenges and facilitators, and examples of best practice to inform the development of an online toolkit and training package. METHODS Guided discussions were carried out with 44 practitioners, 7 patients and 2 carers from five health and social care organisations in South West England, and analysed thematically. RESULTS Practitioners and patients had positive experiences of telerehabilitation and were optimistic about its future use. Recognized benefits for people with physical disabilities included greater flexibility, reduced travel and fatigue, having appointments in a familiar environment and ease of involving family members. Challenges encountered were: technological (usability issues, access to technology and digital skills); difficulties seeing or hearing patients; the lack of 'hands-on' care; and safety concerns. Facilitators were supported by colleagues or digital champions, and family members or carers who could assist patients during their appointments. Key themes in best practice were: person-centred and tailored care; clear and open communication and observation and preparation and planning. Practitioners shared tips for remote physical assessments; for example, making use of patient-reported outcomes, and asking patients to wear bright and contrasting coloured clothing to make it easier to see movement. CONCLUSION Telerehabilitation holds promise in health and social care, but it is necessary to share good practice to ensure it is safe, effective and accessible. We collated information and recommendations that informed the content of the Telerehab Toolkit (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/telerehab), a practical resource for practitioners, patients and carers, with a focus on remote assessment and management of physical disabilities and movement impairment.

Abstract
Understanding the experiences and perspectives of users of teletherapy living with a disability and working with them, offers the potential to improve its capacity to meet their requirements. Literature examining the effectiveness of interventions delivered via teletherapy often fail to explore the motivators and implementation needs of the users. The scoping review aimed to examine the research evidence addressing user perspectives of teletherapy in delivery of allied health interventions to the disability community. The Joanna Briggs scoping review protocol methodology was employed with searches completed across five databases (ProQuest, CINAHL (EBSCO), Medline (OVID), Scopus, Google Scholar) in September 2021. The search yielded a total of 1365 results, 147 progressed to full text screening and 22 articles included in thematic analysis. Findings were split into themes addressing organisational and implementation based considerations for teletherapy, and secondly the social and contextual considerations of the Target Participants. The two areas of interest were addressed under each theme some of which include resourcing and upskilling, financial, challenging the status quo, moving from hands on to coaching and the utilisation of a hybrid model of intervention delivery. Teletherapy is viewed as creating a distinct set of benefits and challenges compared to in person service delivery, which impact individual members of the disability community differently. The scoping review identifies a strong need from recipients to trial teletherapy and experience it personally to facilitate understanding of how it can best suit an individual. More than being viewed as an alternative to in person services, teletherapy is viewed by users as better suited as a complementary service with flexibility of hybrid model opportunities valued above exclusive use of one over the other.

Abstract
COVID-19 has abruptly disrupted healthcare services; however, the continuity of rehabilitation could be guaranteed using mobile technologies. This review aims to analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of telehealth solutions proposed to guarantee the continuity of rehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and PEDro databases were searched; the search was limited to randomized controlled trials, observational and explorative studies published up to 31 May 2022, assessing the feasibility and effectiveness of telerehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Twenty studies were included, for a total of 224,806 subjects: 93.1% with orthopedic complaints and 6.9% with non-orthopedic ones. The main strategies used were video and audio calls via commonly available technologies and free videoconferencing tools. Based on the current evidence, it is suggested that telerehabilitation is a feasible and effective solution, allowing the continuity of rehabilitation while reducing the risk of infection and the burden of travel. However, it is not widely used in clinical settings, and definitive conclusions cannot be currently drawn. Telerehabilitation seems a feasible and safe option to remotely deliver rehabilitation using commonly available mobile technologies, guaranteeing the continuity of care while respecting social distancing. Further research is, however, needed to strengthen and confirm these findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Telerehabilitation has been proposed as an effective strategy to deliver post-stroke specific exercise. OBJECTIVE To assess the effectiveness and feasibility of core stability exercises guided by a telerehabilitation App after hospital discharge. METHODS Extension of a prospective controlled trial. Subacute stage stroke survivors were included at the time of hospital discharge where they had participated in a previous 5-week randomized controlled trial comparing conventional physiotherapy versus core stability exercises. After discharge, patients from the experimental group were offered access to telerehabilitation to perform core stability exercises at home (AppG), while those from the control group were subject to usual care (CG). The Spanish-version of the Trunk Impairment Scale 2.0 (S-TIS 2.0), Function in Sitting Test (S-FIST), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Spanish-version of Postural Assessment for Stroke Patients (S-PASS), the number of falls, Brunel Balance Assessment (BBA) and Gait were assessed before and after 3 months intervention. RESULTS A total of 49 subjects were recruited. AppG showed greater improvement in balance in both sitting and standing position and gait compared with CG, although no statistically significant differences were obtained. CONCLUSION Core stability exercises Telerehabilitation as a home-based guide appears to improve balance in post-stroke stage. Future studies are necessary to confirm the effects as well as identifying strategies to increase telerehabilitation adherence.

Abstract
Telerehabilitation provides Veteran patients with necessary rehabilitation treatment. It enhances care continuity and reduces travel time for Veterans who face long distances to receive care at a Veterans Health Administration (VHA) medical facility. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a sudden shift to telehealth–including telerehabilitation, where a paucity of data-driven guidelines exist that are specific to the practicalities entailed in telerehabilitation implementation. This paper explicates gains in practical knowledge for implementing telerehabilitation that were accelerated during the rapid shift of VHA healthcare from out-patient rehabilitation services to telerehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Group and individual interviews with 12 VHA rehabilitation providers were conducted to examine, in-depth, the providers' implementation of telerehabilitation. Thematic analysis yielded nine themes: (i) Willingness to Give Telerehabilitation a Chance: A Key Ingredient; (ii) Creativity and Adaptability: Critical Attributes for Telerehabilitation Providers; (iii) Adapting Assessments; (iv) Adapting Interventions; (v) Role and Workflow Adaptations; (vi) Appraising for Self the Feasibility of the Telerehabilitation Modality; (vii) Availability of Informal, In-Person Support Improves Feasibility of Telerehabilitation; (viii) Shifts in the Expectations by the Patients and by the Provider; and (ix) Benefit and Anticipated Future of Telerehabilitation. This paper contributes an in-depth understanding of clinical reasoning considerations, supportive strategies, and practical approaches for engaging Veterans in telerehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Telerehabilitation is a feasible and potentially effective alternative to face-to-face rehabilitation. However, specific guidance, training, and support for practitioners who undertake remote assessments in people with physical disabilities and movement impairment are limited. OBJECTIVE The aims of this survey of United Kingdom-based health and social care practitioners were to explore experiences, assess training needs, and collate ideas on best practices in telerehabilitation for physical disabilities and movement impairment. The aim will be to use the findings to inform a practical tool kit and training package for telerehabilitation use. METHODS UK rehabilitation practitioners were invited to complete an online questionnaire from November to December 2020. Opportunity and snowball sampling were used to recruit participants from professional and educational networks, special interest groups, and via social media. Closed questionnaire items were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative inductive analysis using NVivo was used for open responses. RESULTS There were 247 respondents, of which 177 (72%) were physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Most (n=207, 84%) had used video-based consultations (typically supported by telephone and email), and the use of this method had increased in frequency since the COVID-19 pandemic. Practitioners perceived telerehabilitation positively overall and recognized benefits for patients including a reduced infection risk, convenience and flexibility, and reduced travel and fatigue. Common obstacles were technology related (eg, internet connection), practical (eg, difficulty positioning the camera), patient related (eg, health status), practitioner related (eg, lack of technical skills), and organizational (eg, lack of access to technology). Support from family members or carers was a major facilitator for successful remote consultations. Of the 207 respondents who had used video-based consultations, 103 (50%) had assessed physical impairments using this method, 107 (52%) had assessed physical function, and 121 (59%) had used patient-reported outcome measures. Although practitioners generally felt confident in delivering video-based consultations, they felt less proficient in undertaking remote physical assessments, expressing concerns about validity, reliability, and safety. Only 46 of the 247 (19%) respondents had received any training in telerehabilitation or video consultations, and some felt they were "feeling their way in the dark." Practitioners desired training and guidance on physical assessment tools suitable for remote use, when to use video-based consultations or alternative methods, governance issues, digital platforms, and signposting to digital skills training for themselves and their patients. CONCLUSIONS In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, practitioners rapidly adopted telerehabilitation for people with physical disabilities and movement impairment. However, there are technical, practical, and organizational obstacles to overcome, and a clear need for improved guidance and training in remote physical assessments. The findings of this survey will inform the development of a tool kit of resources and a training package for the current and future workforce in telerehabilitation.
