Abstract
Some 3-phenyl-quinazolin-4(3H)-one-2-thioethers (3a-e, 5a,b, 7a-e, 9a-d, 10a-d, and 12) along with 2-aminoquinazoline derivatives 13a-c were prepared and screened for their in vitro phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitory activity. Some compounds such as 7d,e, 9a,b,d, 10a,d, and 13b exhibited promising activity as compared with the non-selective PDE inhibitor IBMX. This inhibitory activity was validated by molecular docking in the active site of PDE7A and PDE4 to investigate their selectivity. Furthermore, the most active compound 10d (IC50 = 1.15 μM) was tested in vivo using behavioral tests. Compound 10d was able to pass the blood-brain barrier and improve scopolamine-induced cognitive deficits. Therefore, this core can be considered as a promising scaffold for further optimization to obtain new compounds with better PDE7A selective inhibition.

Abstract
Basic imidazolium-based ionic liquids not only possess the extraordinary physicochemical properties of ionic liquids, but also have excellent basicity and surfactivity. 1-Propyl-3-alkylimidazole hydroxide ionic liquids ([PRIm][OH]) were synthesized and their catalytic and surfactant behavior were studied in this work. [PRIm][OH] owned excellent surfactivity, and their alkyl chains and ion pairs benefit hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity respectively. The surfactivity of [PRIm][OH] increased with increasing alkyl chain length. [PRIm][OH] showed better catalytic performance than NaOH in the condensation of 2-aminobenzonitrile with cyclohexanone in aqueous medium, and the catalytic performance was well coincident with their surfactant behavior. [PRIm][OH] could decrease the interfacial tension of solvent effectively and form micelles in water. The formed micelles could solubilise more reactants into water and effectively increase the chance of contact between reactants and catalytic active sites. The catalyst dosage obviously affected catalytic performance. The catalytic system is a promising recyclable system. [PRIm][OH] showed excellent catalytic properties in synthesis of quinazolinone in aqueous medium, owing to its excellent surfactivity and basicity.![]()

Abstract
The syntheses of some new derivatives of quinazoline and their annulated derivatives are described in this work. Investigation of antimicrobial activity of the new products was evaluated using agar well diffusion methods with determination of minimal inhibitory concentrations against six pathogenic bacteria and three pathogenic fungi. Most of the new compounds are potent as antimicrobial agents.

Abstract
Many naturally occurring and synthetic compounds containing dihydrocyanopyridine and cyanopyran moiety show pharmacological properties. The aim of this study is to investigate the larvicidal and antioxidant potential of dihydrophenanthroline-3-carbonitrile derivatives 4a–f. A novel series of 2-amino-10-chloro-4,12-diphenyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[j][1,7]phenanthroline-3-carbonitrile derivatives were synthesized by reacting different substituted acridine chalcones through Michel addition. The compounds were synthesized in excellent yields and the structures were corroborated on the basis of FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and ESI Mass analysis data. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti and Culex quinquefasciatus larvae. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity was studied by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay method. From the antioxidant assay, the compound 4c was reported with profound antioxidant potential.

Abstract
Acridin-1(2H)-one analogue of 7-chloro-3,4-dihydro-9-phenyl-2-[(pyridine-2yl) methylene] acridin-1(2H)-one, 5 was prepared by using 7-chloro-3,4-dihydro-9-phenylacridin-1(2H)-one, 3 and picolinaldehyde, 4 in the presence of KOH at room temperature. These compounds were characterized by analytical and spectral analyses. The purpose of the present study was to assess the efficacy of larvicidal and repellent activity of synthesized 7-chloro-3,4-dihydro-9-phenyl-acridin-1(2H)-one analogues such as compounds 3 and 5 against the early fourth instar larvae of filariasis vector, Culex quinquefasciatus and Japanese encephalitis vector, Culex gelidus (Diptera: Culicidae). The compound exhibited high larvicidal effects at 50mg/L against both the mosquitoes with LC(50) values of 25.02 mg/L (r(2)=0.998) and 26.40 mg/L (r(2)=0.988) against C. quinquefasciatus and C. gelidus, respectively. The 7-chloro-3,4-dihydro-9-phenyl-acridin-1(2H)-one analogues that are reported for the first time to our best of knowledge can be better explored for the control of mosquito population. This is an ideal ecofriendly approach for the control of Japanese encephalitis vectors, C. quinquefasciatus and C. gelidus.

Abstract
In the title mol-ecule, C(19)H(14)ClN(3)O, the quinoline and quinazoline ring systems form a dihedral angle of 80.75 (4)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into centrosymmetric dimers, generating R(2) (2)(6) ring motifs. The structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7869 (8) and 3.8490 (8) Å].
