Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare, with only nine cases reported. CASE SUMMARY This study reports a 51-year-old man with primary SCC of the renal parenchyma. The patient was admitted with recurrent dull pain and discomfort in the right lumbar region, which had worsened over 2 weeks, accompanied by painful gross hematuria. SCC antigen (SCCA) levels were elevated, and imaging revealed a renal mass with associated calculi. The patient underwent laparoscopic unilateral nephrectomy and lymph node dissection. Postoperative pathology confirmed highly differentiated SCC with necrosis in the right renal parenchyma, with negative renal pelvis and ureter. The pathological stage was Pt3aN1M0. Four months after surgery, the tumor recurred with involvement of the liver, right psoas major muscle, and inferior vena cava. The patient refused chemotherapy and succumbed to the disease 6 months postoperatively due to disease progression. CONCLUSION We report a case of primary SCC of the renal parenchyma, a rare renal malignancy. The clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings are nonspecific, making accurate and timely diagnosis challenging. According to the literature, for patients with renal calculi accompanied by a renal mass, elevated serum SCCA levels, and magnetic resonance imaging showing cystic or cystic-solid masses within the kidney with pseudocapsules and heterogeneous mild enhancement, the possibility of this disease should be considered.

Abstract
Introduction Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney is rare, with only a few cases reported to date. Case presentation A right renal mass was detected in a 73-year-old asymptomatic man. Dynamic contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed a hypodensity mass extending from the upper pole of the kidney to the right lobe of the liver. Renal biopsy revealed that this tumor was squamous cell carcinoma. One month later, computed tomography showed rapid tumor growth. Radical nephrectomy and partial hepatic resection were performed. Pathological analysis indicated that this tumor originated from the tubular epithelium, and the patient was diagnosed with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney.Following up without adjuvant therapy, he developed retroperitoneal recurrence and multiple lung metastases and expired. Conclusion In this case, squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney invaded the liver and progressed rapidly. Considering these observations, surgical resection should be promptly performed in suspected cases.

Abstract
Squamous cell carcinoma, originating in the renal pelvis, is an infrequent form of kidney malignancy. The occurrence rate remains below 1% for all neoplasms in this specific area. Most of these carcinomas are moderately or poorly differentiated, and diagnosis typically occurs at an advanced stage. Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is an uncommon form of severe chronic infection that affects the parenchyma of native kidneys. We present the case of a 34-year-old male with a history of end-stage renal disease secondary to recurrent pyelonephritis, which was incidentally diagnosed as renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal pelvis is one of the extremely rare tumors encountered in the kidney. It poses a diagnostic challenge for both the clinician and pathologist alike due to the sheer rarity of its occurrence and the multitude nature of its clinical presentation. A review of the literature over the last few decades shows just a countable number of cases documented, each bearing the testimony of the aggressive nature of this subtype. We hereby report three cases of SCC of the renal pelvis origin received at a tertiary care hospital in North India.

Abstract
RationalePrimary renal parenchymal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is an extremely rare tumor that is difficult to diagnose by hematology and imaging studies and is often diagnosed later than other primary renal cancers.DiagnosisA 52-year-old male patient was found to have cysts in both kidneys for 1 week. No urgency and frequency of urination, no dysuria, no gross hematuria, and no significant changes in recent body weight were reported.InterventionsThe upper pole of the right kidney is a cystic and solid mass (8.3 cm * 8.2 cm * 8.1 cm), the cystic part has long T1 and long T2 signals, the solid part has mixed signals, and some parts have limited diffusion. There were nodular long T1 and short T2 calcification signals. An enhanced scan of the solid part showed uneven enhancement and continuous enhancement of the mass capsule. Cystic renal cancer was considered because of the multiple cysts in both kidneys. Surgical treatment was performed. Postoperative pathology revealed well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the right kidney with cystic degeneration, 8.5 cm * 6 cm in size, infiltrating the renal parenchyma, and the cutting edge was negative. The pathological stage was pT2bN0M0.OutcomeAt the follow-up 5 months after the operation, no metastasis was found.ConclusionRenal SCC is rare and easily misdiagnosed and missed. Pathological diagnosis is still the gold standard for its diagnosis. However, with active surgical treatment, the short-term prognosis of the patient is good.

Abstract
Background: Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the kidney, a rare malignancy that accounts for less than 1% of all urinary tract malignancies, is usually diagnosed in late stages because of the lack of characteristic clinical and imaging features and aggressive behavior. Case Report: A 66-year-old male presented with complaints of right flank pain. Imaging suggested the differential diagnoses of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis or renal malignancy extending into segment VI of the liver. Right subcapsular nephrectomy was performed, and nonbilious fluid from the liver cavitary lesions was drained. Histopathologic examination showed that the lesion was a renal SCC with contiguous malignant infiltration of the liver that led to a renohepatic fistula. Conclusion: Renal SCC is a rare high-grade neoplasm and can present in an unusual form with a poor prognosis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION For individuals with spinal cord injury/disease (SCI/D) the risk of developing a stone in the upper urinary tract is up to six times higher than in the able-bodied population. Upper urinary tract carcinomas, in general, are rare and account for only 5-10% of all urinary tract carcinomas. It is believed that chronic upper urinary tract irritation caused by e.g., kidney stones or recurrent upper urinary tract infections may be associated with an increased risk of renal squamous cell carcinoma (RSCC). CASE PRESENTATION We report on a 64-year-old male who suffered a spinal cord injury in 1981 resulting in a complete sensory and motor impairment below T6, AIS A. Recurrent left-sided kidney stone disease had to be treated repeatedly from 1984 onwards. Despite repeated surgical attempts, it was ultimately not possible to achieve stone clearance in the long term. Within the concept of life-long surveillance of SCI/D, the patient was examined regularly, including ultrasound examinations of the kidneys. Six months after the last control examination, the patient was admitted to our hospital with a locally advanced tumor of the left kidney, so that only the option of palliative treatment remained. Histologically an RSCC was found. DISCUSSION As people with SCI/D have a higher risk of developing kidney stones, it is of utmost importance to check regularly for stone disease and, if necessary, treat with the aim of long-term stone clearance in order to protect renal function and to avert potentially malignant changes at an early stage.

Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of renal parenchyma is very rare and until now only a few cases have been reported. We report a unique SCC case in terms of aggressive nature and metastatic pattern. Renal rubber consistency and pasty keratin secretions were important findings in our patient. The patient underwent radical nephrectomy and lymphadenectomy and received 4 cycles of chemotherapy with cisplatin and gemcitabine. Eight month later, she succumbed the disease after developing ovary metastasis and not responding to chemotherapy. Also, our study showed that SCC may be present in pyelonephritic kidneys without a specific radiologic finding.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare, only 5 cases were reported. CASE PRESENTATION We probably report the fifth case of primary Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal parenchyma in a 61-year-old female presenting with intermittent distending pain for 2 months. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) revealed hydronephrosis of the right kidney, but a tumor cannot be excluded completely. Finally, nephrectomy was performed, and histological analysis determined that the diagnosis was kidney parenchyma squamous cell carcinoma involving perinephric adipose tissue. CONCLUSIONS The present case emphasizes that it is difficult to make an accurate preoperative diagnosis with the presentation of hidden malignancy, such as hydronephrosis.

Abstract
Primary renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare primary malignancy of the kidney. Diagnosis is usually delayed because of its lack of characteristic clinical and imaging features and inherent aggressive nature. We present a case of primary renal SCC in a 66-year-old woman with bilateral renal calculi and a complex right lower pole renal mass. The diagnosis of primary renal SCC was established based on the histopathology after right nephrectomy.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Both, the renal pelvis and the ureter, are affected by developmental, reactive and neoplastic disorders, though rare in incidence. AIM This series of cases were analysed to study the clinicopathological characteristics of the common and comparatively rare lesions involving the renal pelvis and pelviureteric junction. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective collection of 476 nephrectomies and pelviureteric junction resections, received over a period of 13 years from 2001 to 2013 was done. The patients' clinical details were obtained and the histopathological findings reviewed. The lesions were classified into non-neoplastic and neoplastic categories. RESULTS Primary involvement of the renal pelvis and pelviureteric junction was seen in 105 of 476 specimens. The mean age was 54.5 years with a male to female ratio of 2.2:1. The non-neoplastic lesions accounted for 76.2% of cases with a majority being pelviureteric junction obstruction due to inflammation induced fibromuscular hypertrophy (68.6%) causing hydronephrosis. Urothelial carcinomas were encountered in 20% of the cases. A majority of the urothelial carcinomas were infiltrative (81%) and high grade (71%) tumours. CONCLUSION Renal pelvis, a conduit to propel urine, can be the site for numerous disorders. Non-neoplastic lesions were more common than neoplasms. Pelviureteric junction obstruction due to inflammation induced fibromuscular hypertrophy was the commonest lesion in our study. In the neoplastic category, urothelial carcinoma was most common. However, rare lesions such as hamartomatous fibroepithelial polyp, Von Brunn's nests, flat urothelial hyperplasia and intramuscular haemangioma of upper ureter at the pelviureteric junction were encountered along with occasional cases of tuberculosis and squamous cell carcinomas.
