Effects of Compound Danshen Injection Combined with Magnesium Sulfate on Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension Syndrome under the Guidance of Empirical Mode Decomposition Algorithm-Based Ultrasound Image

Exploring the molecular targets and mechanism of S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica in treating polycystic ovary syndrome based on network pharmacology

Background

S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica (Danshen-Yujin; red sage and turmeric) is a frequently used Chinese herbal medicine pair in treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This study aimed to classify the molecular targets and mechanisms participating in treating PCOS through network pharmacology.

Methods

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) platform was employed for screening the active ingredients of S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica. The molecular targets from the UniProt database were identified and compared to the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset GSE34526; the intersecting genes were obtained by constructing a Venn diagram. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analyses were made on the crossover genes. A key protein 3-dimensional (3D) structure was created using the Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics Protein Data Bank (RCDB PDB) database. Finally, the clinical data of 104 hospital-admitted PCOS patients from January 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed to explore and analyze the clinical value of S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica in treating PCOS.

Results

In the TCMSP database, we found a total of 80 active ingredients in S. miltiorrhiza-C. A high clustering and three key proteins were obtained A high-scoring cluster and 3 key proteins, AOAH, HCK, and C1orf162, were obtained through the construction of protein mutual aid network and module analysis of differential genes. KEGG and GO enrichment analyses indicated that the S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica treatment mechanism in PCOS was mainly involved with inflammation-related pathways. The clinical data of PCOS patients were retrospectively analyzed. In the end, The long diameter of the ovary, the thickness of the endometrium, and the antral follicle count in the combined treatment group of S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica combined with clomiphene were higher after treatment than before treatment, and the clinical symptoms and hormone levels were also improved.

Conclusions

This study expounds the research value of S. miltiorrhiza-C. aromatica in treating PCOS from the perspectives of active ingredients, targets, signaling pathways, and clinical research. These findings also provide an important reference for treating PCOS with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

Effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza active compounds on placenta-mediated pregnancy complications

Placenta-mediated pregnancy complications (PMPCs), including preeclampsia (PE), fetal growth restriction (FGR), and recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA), occur in approximately 5% of pregnancies and are caused by abnormal placenta development. The development of effective therapies for PMPCs is still challenging due to the complicated pathogenesis, such as disrupted vascular homeostasis and subsequent abnormal placentation. Synthetic drugs have been recommended for treating PMPCs; however, they tend to cause adverse reactions in the mother and fetus. Salvia miltiorrhiza (S. miltiorrhiza) has potential effects on PMPCs owing to its advantages in treating cardiovascular disorders. S. miltiorrhiza and its active compounds could attenuate the symptoms of PMPCs through anticoagulation, vasodilation, antioxidation, and endothelial protection. Thus, in this review, we summarize the literature and provide comprehensive insights on S. miltiorrhiza and its phytochemical constituents, pharmacological activities, and on PMPCs, which would be valuable to explore promising drugs.

Effect of Compound Danshen Injection Combined with Magnesium Sulfate on Oxidative Stress, TNF-α, NO, and Therapeutic Efficacy in Severe Preeclampsia

Aims

This study is designed to explore the effect of compound Danshen injection combined with magnesium sulfate on TNF-α, NO, oxidative stress, and therapeutic efficacy in severe preeclampsia (S-PE).

Methods

Sixty S-PE patients were placed into the control group and the therapy group, randomly. The control group was under the treatment of magnesium sulfate, and the therapy group was under the treatment of compound Danshen injection with magnesium sulfate. After treatment, the therapeutic efficacy of the two groups was comparatively analyzed.

Results

7 days after treatment, DBP, SBP, and 24 h urinary protein were sharply lower than those before treatment. The 24 h urinary protein was notably lower in the therapy group. After treatment, the expression level of TNF-α in both groups was notably higher than before treatment, while NO level was higher than that before treatment. Furthermore, D-D level in two groups was dramatically decreased compared to that before treatment. Moreover, Fib, PT, and APTT in two groups showed statistically significant differences after 7 days. The contents of ALT, AST, BUN, and Scr in therapy group were notably lower than those in control group.

Conclusion

Our results indicated that compound Danshen injection could improve renal function, blood hypercoagulability, and oxidative stress level and had a better therapeutic effect on S-PE.

Efficacy and Mechanism of Roxadustat plus Oral Iron in the Treatment of Elderly Chronic Kidney Disease with Anemia

Objective

For investigating the efficacy and mechanism of Roxadustat + oral iron in the treatment of elderly chronic kidney disease (CKD) complicated with anemia.

Methods

A total of 100 elderly patients with CKD and anemia admitted to our hospital between April 2020 and December 2021 were enrolled as research subjects, and the patients were assigned to control group (Con group, n = 50) or experimental group (Exp group, n = 50). The patients in the Con group were given oral iron, and those in the Exp group were given Roxadustat capsule based on the Con group. Both groups were given subcutaneous injection of recombinant human erythropoietin. The clinical efficacy, anemia indexes, iron metabolism indexes, inflammatory indexes, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.

Results

The Exp group showed a notably higher treatment effective rate than the Con group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the anemia indexes, iron metabolism indexes, and inflammatory indexes in the Exp group were notably better than those in the Con group (P < 0.05). The Exp group showed a notably lower incidence of adverse reactions during treatment than the Con group (P < 0.05).

Conclusion

Roxadustat plus oral iron yields a pronounced clinical efficacy in the therapy of elderly patients with CKD and anemia.

Uterine Ultrasound Doppler Hemodynamics of Magnesium Sulfate Combined with Labetalol in the Treatment of Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension Using Empirical Wavelet Transform Algorithm

The aim of this study was to explore the hemodynamic changes of magnesium sulfate combined with labetalol in the treatment of pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) under Doppler uterine ultrasound based on the empirical wavelet transform (EWT) algorithm. 500 patients with PIH in the hospital were selected and randomly divided into the control group (n = 250) and the observation group (n = 250). The control group was treated with conventional magnesium sulfate; the observation group was given labetalol based on magnesium sulfate drip in the control group. The uterine artery blood flow simulation model was established based on the EWT algorithm and compared with a short-time Fourier transform (STFT). The normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) of the STFT method was 0.19, and the NRMSE extracted by the EWT method was 0.13. After treatment, the blood pressure index, 24-hour urinary protein, and incidence of adverse birth outcomes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group; the effective rate of the control group (90.4%) was lower than that of the observation group (97.6%); the hemodynamic indexes of the uterine artery in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The estimation accuracy of the EWT method was higher than that of the traditional STFT method; the combined treatment of magnesium sulfate and labetalol in patients with PIH had a remarkable effect, which could control the blood pressure index and reduce the 24-hour urinary protein; the uterine artery Doppler ultrasound examination could change hemodynamics and improve the adverse outcomes of mothers and infants.
