A Novel Prognostic Model Using Chaotic CNN with Hybridized Spoofing for Enhancing Diagnostic Accuracy in Epileptic Seizure Prediction

Epileptic seizure detection has undergone progressive advancements since its conception in the 1970s. From proof-of-concept experiments in the latter part of that decade, it has now become a vibrant area of clinical and laboratory research. In an effort to bring this technology closer to practical application in human patients, this study introduces a customized approach to selecting electroencephalogram (EEG) features and electrode positions for seizure prediction. The focus is on identifying precursors that occur within 10 min of the onset of abnormal electrical activity during a seizure. However, there are security concerns related to safeguarding patient EEG recordings against unauthorized access and network-based attacks. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an efficient prediction and classification method for encrypted EEG data. This paper presents an effective system for analyzing and recognizing encrypted EEG information using Arnold transform algorithms, chaotic mapping, and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). In this system, the EEG time series from each channel is converted into a 2D spectrogram image, which is then encrypted using chaotic algorithms. The encrypted data is subsequently processed by CNNs coupled with transfer learning (TL) frameworks. To optimize the fusion parameters of the ensemble learning classifiers, a hybridized spoofing optimization method is developed by combining the characteristics of corvid and gregarious-seeking agents. The evaluation of the model's effectiveness yielded the following results: 98.9 ± 0.3% accuracy, 98.2 ± 0.7% sensitivity, 98.6 ± 0.6% specificity, 98.6 ± 0.6% precision, and an F1 measure of 98.9 ± 0.6%. When compared with other state-of-the-art techniques applied to the same dataset, this novel strategy demonstrated one of the most effective seizure detection systems, as evidenced by these results.

Contextual Cluster-Based Glow-Worm Swarm Optimization (GSO) Coupled Wireless Sensor Networks for Smart Cities

The cluster technique involves the creation of clusters and the selection of a cluster head (CH), which connects sensor nodes, known as cluster members (CM), to the CH. The CH receives data from the CM and collects data from sensor nodes, removing unnecessary data to conserve energy. It compresses the data and transmits them to base stations through multi-hop to reduce network load. Since CMs only communicate with their CH and have a limited range, they avoid redundant information. However, the CH's routing, compression, and aggregation functions consume power quickly compared to other protocols, like TPGF, LQEAR, MPRM, and P-LQCLR. To address energy usage in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), heterogeneous high-power nodes (HPN) are used to balance energy consumption. CHs close to the base station require effective algorithms for improvement. The cluster-based glow-worm optimization technique utilizes random clustering, distributed cluster leader selection, and link-based routing. The cluster head routes data to the next group leader, balancing energy utilization in the WSN. This algorithm reduces energy consumption through multi-hop communication, cluster construction, and cluster head election. The glow-worm optimization technique allows for faster convergence and improved multi-parameter selection. By combining these methods, a new routing scheme is proposed to extend the network's lifetime and balance energy in various environments. However, the proposed model consumes more energy than TPGF, and other protocols for packets with 0 or 1 retransmission count in a 260-node network. This is mainly due to the short INFO packets during the neighbor discovery period and the increased hop count of the proposed derived pathways. Herein, simulations are conducted to evaluate the technique's throughput and energy efficiency.

A novel technique based on mutual information weighted feature selection to predict chronic kidney disease

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a crucial life-threatening condition due to impaired kidney functionality and renal disease. In recent studies, Kidney disorder is considered one of the essential and deadliest issues that threaten patients’ survival with the lack of earlier prediction and classification. The earlier prediction process and the proper diagnosis help delay or stop the chronic disease progression into its final stage, where renal transplantation or dialysis is a known way of saving the patient’s life. Global studies reveal that nearly 10% of the population is affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), and millions die because of non-affordable treatment. Early detection of CKD from the biological parameters would save people from this crisis. Machine Learning algorithms are playing a predominant role in disease diagnosis and prognosis. This work generates compound features from CKD indicators by two novel algorithms: Correlation-based Weighted Compound Feature (CWCF) and Feature Significance based Weighted Compound Feature (FSWCF). Any learning algorithm is as good as its features. Hence, the features generated by these algorithms are validated on different machine learning algorithms as a test for generality. The simulation is done in MATLAB 2020a environment where various metrics like prediction accuracy gives superior results compared to multiple other approaches. The accuracy of CWCF over different methods like LR is 97.23%, Gaussian NB is 99%, SVM is 99.18%, and RF is 99.89%, which is substantially higher than the approaches without proper methods feature analysis. The results suggest that generated compound features improve the predictive power of the algorithms.

An intelligent multivariate block steganography framework with enhanced PSO based on chaos mapping

To safeguard private information, image steganography is extensively used. Research is focused on ways to enhance steganographic technologies so that they may increase compression ratio while maintaining steganography image integrity. Because of its essential qualities such as security, scalability, and robustness, Steganography is a preferred way of communicating protected secret information to prevent hacking and misuse. This proposed research offers a steganography approach based on Enhanced Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization (ECPSO), which uses chaos theory to determine the optimal pixel positions in the cover picture to hide confidential information when keeping the steganography quality in the images. Both the cover and secret pictures are separated into blocks to increase hiding capacity, with each component storing a sufficient quantity of secret data by mapping the pixels. The suggested ECPSO-Stegano system has better results with the criteria of Mean Square Error (MSE) of 0.00018%, Peak-Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (PSNR) of 79.66%, Bit Error Rate (BER) of 0.45% in average, and Structural Similarity Index (SSI) of 0.98 in average for various input size. It’s also robust to statistical threats.
