Preparation strategy of hydrogel microsphere and its application in skin repair

In recent years, hydrogel microsphere has attracted much attention due to its great potential in the field of skin repair. This paper reviewed the recent progress in the preparation strategy of hydrogel microsphere and its application in skin repair. In this review, several preparation methods of hydrogel microsphere were summarized in detail. In addition, the related research progress of hydrogel microspheres for skin repair was reviewed, and focused on the application of bioactive microspheres, antibacterial microspheres, hemostatic microspheres, and hydrogel microspheres as delivery platforms (hydrogel microspheres as a microcarrier of drugs, bioactive factors, or cells) in the field of skin repair. Finally, the limitations and future prospects of the development of hydrogel microspheres and its application in the field of skin repair were presented. It is hoped that this review can provide a valuable reference for the development of the preparation strategy of hydrogel microspheres and promote the application of hydrogel microspheres in skin repair.

Phosphazene Cyclomatrix Network-Based Polymer: Chemistry, Synthesis, and Applications

Polyphosphazenes are an inorganic molecular hybrid family with multifunctional properties due to their wide range of organic substitutes. This review intends to propose the basics of the synthetic chemistry of polyphosphazene, describing for researchers outside the field the basic knowledge required to design and prepare polyphosphazenes with desired properties. A special emphasis is placed on recent advances in chemical synthesis, which allow not only the synthesis of polyphosphazenes with controlled molecular weights and polydispersities but also the synthesis of novel branched designs and block copolymers. We also investigated the synthesis of polyphosphazenes using various functional materials. This review aims to assist researchers in synthesizing their specific polyphosphazene material with unique property combinations, with the hope of stimulating further research and even more innovative applications for these highly interesting multifaceted materials.

Synthesis of silver nanoparticles via traditional Chinese medicine and evaluation of their antibacterial activities

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in antibacterial research, but diverse methods for the green synthesis of AgNPs are still underexplored. Phenols, the major components in traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), can reduce silver ions (Ag⁺) to prepare AgNPs. The representative phenolic compounds are flavonoids and chlorogenic acid (CA) in TCMs. Herein, we report a new strategy to prepare AgNPs via decoctions and dregs of TCMs as reductants and dispersants. Lonicera japonica flos (LJ), Astragalus membranaceus (AM), and Eucommia ulmoides bark (EU) were chosen due to their high contents of phenols. ¹H-NMR and HPLC were run to monitor the reaction for AgNP synthesis in decoctions, and XRD and TEM analyses were performed to characterize the synthesized TCMs-AgNPs. In addition, AgNPs prepared by spent Chinese medicinal grounds (SCMGs) were characterized by IR and XRD. The antibacterial assessment demonstrated that these TCMs-AgNPs significantly inhibited the growth of S. aureus and P. aeruginosa and effectively protected lettuce leaves against P. aeruginosa infection. Taken together, this study developed a new synthetic strategy that used decoctions and dregs of TCMs to obtain AgNPs with excellent antibacterial activity, which indicated the potential antibacterial application of these new TCM-based AgNP materials.

Two types of silver nanoparticles were synthesized via traditional Chinese medicine. Both of them exhibited excellent antibacterial activities, which could be promising in the development of new antibacterial agents and materials.
