British Journal of Occupational Therapy: Composition and Authorship Patterns 1975–1984

A 10-year analysis of the British Journal of Occupational Therapy was performed to investigate structural characteristics, authorship patterns and topics of most concern. The results of the survey showed that the journal had increased both in size and in the number of articles published per annum. There was an increase in the use of references from 2.5 to 6.5 per article, and single clinical authors wrote 63% of the articles. The topic of most concern continued to be physical occupational therapy, with the subsequent most popular areas being psychiatry, equipment/aids and teaching subjects.
