Treatment of status epilepticus

Status epilepticus, particularly the convulsive form, is a medical emergency, warranting prompt and aggressive treatment. Therapy should be directed toward rapid termination of the status epilepticus, prevention of seizure recurrence, and treatment of any underlying cause.
