Skin Mixed Tumor of Right Nose

Skin mixed tumors are extremely rare clinically, lack characteristic manifestations, and are easily confused with other diseases. An Asian male came to our hospital's cosmetic and plastic surgery department because of a skin mass on the right side of his nose. After unanimous discussion by our doctors, the patient underwent subcutaneous tumor resection under local anesthesia and rotational flap transplantation to treat the disease and improve the shape of the nose. The surgery was a success. The patient was checked regularly, and the sutures were removed 1 week later. The patient's wound was normal after suture removal. During the 5-month follow-up, the patient's right nose showed no recurrence, the appearance was normal, and the scar was not obvious. The patient was satisfied.

Chondroid syringoma of the axilla: An unusual tumor diagnosed by fine needle aspiration

Chondroid syringoma (CS) is a rare benign adnexal tumor of the skin with a resemblance to pleomorphic adenoma of salivary gland, most commonly involving the head and neck region. In the present literature, reports of the cytologic appearance of CS are scarce as it is rarely encountered by fine needle aspiration (FNA). A 67-year-old woman presented with a 1 year history of a 1 cm subcutaneous nodule in the right axilla. FNA biopsy was performed revealing an epithelial-mesenchymal biphasic neoplasm suggesting CS. Surgical excision confirmed the diagnosis and demonstrated extensive ossification, an extremely rare feature, with only seven reported cases, all located on the head. CS is a rare benign adnexal tumor of the skin, often overlooked due to its unremarkable clinical presentation. FNA is a reliable tool for the diagnosis of CS and helps guide optimal surgical management.

Chondroid syringoma with extensive bone formation: a case report and review of the literature

Chondroid syringoma is a rare, skin appendageal tumour, usually reported at the head and neck region. It is a mostly intradermal and rarely subcutaneous small painless nodule. The histopathological examination is characterized by a combination of epithelial and myoepithelial structures within a chondromyxoid and fibrous stroma. Herein, we present a rare case of chondroid syringoma with extensive bone formation.

Cutaneous deposits

: The cutaneous deposition disorders are a group of unrelated conditions characterized by the accumulation of either endogenous or exogenous substances within the skin. These cutaneous deposits are substances that are not normal constituents of the skin and are laid down usually in the dermis, but also in the subcutis, in a variety of different circumstances. There are 5 broad categories of cutaneous deposits. The first group includes calcium salts, bone, and cartilage. The second category includes the hyaline deposits that may be seen in the dermis in several metabolic disorders, such as amyloidosis, gout, porphyria, and lipoid proteinosis. The third category includes various pigments, heavy metals, and complex drug pigments. The fourth category, cutaneous implants, includes substances that are inserted into the skin for cosmetic purposes. The fifth category includes miscellaneous substances, such as oxalate crystals and fiberglass. In this article, the authors review the clinicopathologic characteristics of cutaneous deposition diseases, classify the different types of cutaneous deposits, and identify all the histopathologic features that may assist in diagnosing the origin of a cutaneous deposit.
