Abstract
BACKGROUND Menopause is a natural occurrence signifying the cessation of menstrual bleeding in middle-aged women. Perimenopause refers to a period of 2-8 years leading up to menopause, characterized by irregular cycles or the absence of menstruation for less than 12 months. The perimenopausal phase can be challenging for women due to the negative impact of associated symptoms on their quality of life. Recognizing the potential benefits of physical activity in mitigating these symptoms, this study aimed to evaluate the impact of physical activity education delivered via WhatsApp, using the Health Belief Model as a foundation, on the quality of life in perimenopausal women. MATERIALS AND METHODS This quasi-experimental study involved 80 women aged 40-50 recruited from comprehensive health centers in Isfahan. Cluster sampling was employed for participant selection. The study employed three questionnaires: the "International Physical Activity Questionnaire," "Menopausal Women Quality of Life," and the Health Belief Model Questionnaire. For the intervention group, education based on the Health Belief Model was delivered via WhatsApp via videos, posters, and podcasts every two weeks (a total of 5 packages). Additionally, exercise training videos were sent to participants. Data was collected two months after the intervention and analyzed using SPSS 26, with independent and paired t-tests applied (significance level: 0.05). RESULTS The results indicated a significant increase in knowledge scores, Health Belief Model constructs, and physical activity levels within the intervention group, whereas no significant changes were observed in the control group. Notably, menopausal symptom scores decreased in the intervention group, particularly in psychological symptoms, and there was a significant decrease in the overall quality of life score (P = 0.018). CONCLUSION Providing education via WhatsApp, grounded in the Health Belief Model, enhanced physical activity levels and improved the quality of life among perimenopausal women. This approach holds promise for promoting well-being in perimenopause.

Abstract
Dietary inflammatory index (DII) was demonstrated to be correlated to quality of life (QoL) in people with osteoarthritis (OA), but there is lack of an exploration of the relationship between the longitudinal trajectories of QoL and DII in OA people. This study aims to investigate the relationship between DII and longitudinal trajectories of QoL, and the moderating effect of physical activity on this relationship in OA people. Data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative database includes baseline measurements and follow-up data at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8-year intervals for the 12-item Short-Form Health Outcome Survey questionnaire (physical and mental dimensions) and baseline sociodemographic characteristics utilized in this study. Dual Group-Based Trajectory Modeling analysis was employed to identify the profiles of physical and mental QoL trajectories. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between DII and QoL profiles. A structural equation model was conducted to assess the moderating effect of physical activity on the relationship between DII and QoL in OA people. A total of 1127 OA people were categorized into three profiles based on their physical and mental QoL: low physical-low mental QoL (14.5%), low physical-high mental QoL (27.1%), and high physical-high mental QoL (58.4%). People with higher DII were more likely to be in the low physical-low mental QoL profile (OR = 1.163, P = 0.014) and low physical-high mental QoL (OR = 1.131, P = 0.013) compared to the high physical-high mental QoL profile. Additionally, a higher level of physical activity could mitigate the relationship between a higher DII and lower QoL (β = 0.064, P = 0.029). A higher DII was associated with a greater likelihood of impaired QoL. Increasing physical activity levels can help mitigate the negative impact.

Abstract
Background: The Israeli Mamanet Cachibol League (MCL) is a community-oriented athletic program serving mothers through non-competitive recreational sports participation. This study aimed to assess the effects of the MCL on perceived health status, mental health (happiness, depression, social capital), and healthy lifestyle behaviors (physical activity and nutrition). Methods: This is an experimental study with a sample of 231 women (174 in the experimental group and 57 in the control). Participants completed questionnaires in November 2023 (T1) and then in August 2024 (T2). The questionnaire included questions on sociodemographic characteristics, perceived health status, mental health (happiness, depression, social capital), and healthy lifestyle behaviors (physical activity and nutrition). Results: At T1, the MCL participants reported better mental health (higher subjective happiness and social capital and lower depressive symptoms) than the control group. Over time, participation in the MCL led to significant improvements in mental health (reductions in depression and increases in subjective happiness and social capital). The participants showed substantial improvements in healthy lifestyle behaviors, with moderate effect sizes (effects size > 0.5) observed across these areas. Sociodemographic factors influenced the outcomes, with variations in health perception and physical activity linked to marital status and education level. Conclusions: Participation in the MCL program was associated with better mental health at baseline and significantly improved over time compared to the control group. The MCL participants also showed gains in healthy lifestyle behaviors, highlighting the importance of tailored interventions.

Abstract
This study aims to identify the determinants associated with physical activity (PA) behavior in newly diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients by applying the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) with a longitudinal design. Anthropometric and clinical (OSA severity, subjective somnolence, use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)) variables, the determinants of physical activity specified in the HAPA (motivational self-efficacy, outcome expectancies, risk perception, intention, maintenance self-efficacy, action planning, coping planning, social support), as well as physical activity behavior were assessed using a longitudinal (T1 and T2) design in a sample of 57 OSA patients in routine care. Applying regression analyses, regarding the motivation phase, the amount of explained variance in intention was 77% and 39% of the variance in physical activity. In the motivational phase, motivational self-efficacy, risk perception and outcome expectancies were associated with intention. In the volitional phase, physical activity at T1 and social support (family) were related with physical activity at T2. In conclusion, the assumptions of HAPA were partially found in the context of newly diagnosed OSA patients. This study provided additional evidence regarding the role of motivational self-efficacy, outcome expectancies and risk perception during motivational phase, and highlighted the important role of social support from the family in the PA in this population.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Many individuals receiving outpatient physical therapy have musculoskeletal pain and up to one-third use prescription opioids. The impact of physical therapist-led mindfulness-based interventions integrated with evidence-based physical therapy (I-EPT) to manage patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain and long-term opioid treatment has not been elucidated. This project evaluates the feasibility of conducting a cluster randomised trial to test the effectiveness of I-EPT. METHODS AND ANALYSIS Study 1 aim: Refine and manualise the I-EPT treatment protocol. Our approach will use semistructured interviews of patients and physical therapists to refine an I-EPT training manual. Study 2 aim: Evaluate different intensities of physical therapist training programmes for the refined I-EPT treatment protocol. Physical therapists will be randomised 1:1:1 to high-intensity training (HighIT), low-IT (LowIT) training and no training arms. Following training, competency in the provision of I-EPT (LowIT and HighIT groups) will be assessed using standardised patient simulations. Study 3 aim: Evaluate the feasibility of the I-EPT intervention across domains of the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, Maintenance implementation framework. The refined I-EPT treatment protocol will be tested in two different health systems with 90 patients managed by the randomised physical therapists. The coprimary endpoints for study 3 are the proportions of the Pain, Enjoyment of Life and General Activity Scale and the Timeline Followback for opioid use/dose collected at 12 weeks. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethics approval for the study was obtained from the University of Utah, University of Florida and Florida State University Institutional Review Boards. Informed consent is required for participant enrolment in all phases of this project. On completion, study data will be made available in compliance with NIH data sharing policies. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to assess the 10-year cardiovascular risk and physical activity among Syrians residing in England and compare them with the North West England population. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Bilingual online questionnaire distributed through social media platforms from 21 June to 23 July 2023. PARTICIPANTS Syrian individuals in England (aged 25-69, migrated post-2010) and residents of North West England within the same age bracket. All participants had no history of cardiovascular disease (CVD). PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES Primary outcome measures included differences in QRISK3 score, 10-year relative risk (RR), metabolic equivalent of task (MET) and self-reported physical activity between the two groups. Secondary outcome measures included subgroup analyses based on sex and age. RESULTS Of the 273 eligible participants (137 in the Syrian group and 136 in the Northwest England group), the QRISK3 score was twofold higher in the Syrian group (2.20, 5.50) than in the North West England group (1.20, 3.15) (p=0.042). The 10-year RR was approximately three times higher in the Syrian group (p<0.001), while MET was about twice as high in the Northwest England group (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Despite relocating to England, Syrians face substantially elevated cardiovascular risks attributed to an unhealthy lifestyle, including smoking, reduced physical activity, increased body mass index and diabetes, coupled with a strong family history of CVD in first-degree relatives under the age of 60. The study underscores the need for early assessment, risk factor identification and tailored interventions for this population. Raising awareness, particularly in the context of smoking, and promoting physical activity are crucial for mitigating cardiovascular risks. The findings emphasise the importance of culturally sensitive interventions to address the unique health challenges of Syrians in the UK.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a lack of research on the relationship between pain catastrophizing, kinesiophobia, and physical activity (PA) in people with haemophilia (PWH), and the underlying mechanisms connecting these variables remain unclear. AIM The study's aim was to clarify the roles of kinesiophobia and self-efficacy in the relationship between pain catastrophizing and PA in PWH. METHODS This cross-sectional study included adult PWH at the Haemophilia Centre of a Tertiary hospital in Beijing, China. The following questionnaires were used to collect data: the general information, the International Physical Activity Short Questionnaire, the Pain Catastrophizing Scale, the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia Scale, and the Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale. RESULTS The study included a total of 187 PWH, including 154 having haemophilia A and 33 having haemophilia B. The median interquartile range of PA was 594 (198, 1554) MET-min/wk. There were significant differences in PA of patients based on age stage, treatment modality, highest pain score within the last seven days, and presence of haemophilic arthropathy (p < .05). It was showed that pain catastrophizing could directly predict PA (p < .001), accounting for 38.13% of the total effect. Pain catastrophizing also had indirect effects on PA through the mediating factors of kinesiophobia or self-efficacy, and through the chain-mediating effect of kinesiophobia and self-efficacy, accounting for 38.40%, 17.07%, and 6.40%, respectively. CONCLUSION The study discovered that PWH have limited PA due to pain catastrophizing. This not only directly affects their activity but also indirectly influences it through kinesiophobia and self-efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Predicting energy requirements for older adults is compromised by the underpinning data being extrapolated from younger adults. OBJECTIVES To generate and validate new total energy expenditure (TEE) predictive equations specifically for older adults using readily available measures (age, weight, height) and to generate and test new physical activity level (PAL) values derived from 1) reference method of indirect calorimetry and 2) predictive equations in adults aged ≥65 y. METHODS TEE derived from "gold standard" methods from n = 1657 (n = 1019 females, age range 65-90 y), was used to generate PAL values. PAL ranged 1.28-2.05 for males and 1.26-2.06 for females. Physical activity (PA) coefficients were also estimated and categorized (inactive to very active) from population means. Nonlinear regression was used to develop prediction equations for estimating TEE. Double cross-validation in a randomized, sex-stratified, age-matched 50:50 split, and leave one out cross-validation were performed. Comparisons were made with existing equations. RESULTS Equations predicting TEE using the Institute of Medicine method are as follows: For males, TEE = -5680.17 - 17.50 × age (years) + PA coefficient × (6.96 × weight [kilograms] + 44.21 × height [centimeters]) + 1.13 × resting metabolic rate (RMR) (kilojoule/day). For females, TEE = -5290.72 - 8.38 × age (years) + PA coefficient × (9.77 × weight [kilograms] + 41.51 × height [centimeters]) + 1.05 × RMR (kilojoule/day), where PA coefficient values range from 1 (inactive) to 1.51 (highly active) in males and 1 to 1.44 in females respectively. Predictive performance for TEE from anthropometric variables and population mean PA was moderate with limits of agreement approximately ±30%. This improved to ±20% if PA was adjusted for activity category (inactive, low active, active, and very active). Where RMR was included as a predictor variable, the performance improved further to ±10% with a median absolute prediction error of approximately 4%. CONCLUSIONS These new TEE prediction equations require only simple anthropometric data and are accurate and reproducible at a group level while performing better than existing equations. Substantial individual variability in PAL in older adults is the major source of variation when applied at an individual level.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Medication non-adherence to immunosuppressants threatens allograft survival and function maintenance among solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of immunosuppressant medication non-adherence and associated factors during the COVID-19 reopening period among Chinese SOT recipients. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING South-central China. POPULATION Adult patients who received SOT with functioning graft. METHODS Sociodemographic questionnaire and scales to measure physical activity, depression and medication non-adherence were used to collect data. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with medication non-adherence. Mediation and moderated mediation analyses were performed to examine the potential mechanisms influencing medication behaviour during the pandemic reopening period using SPSS PROCESS macro 4.3 software. RESULTS A total of 1121 participants were recruited and the prevalence of medication non-adherence was 36.3% in this study. Recipients who were men, had a higher monthly income, lived alone, had received transplantation for a minimum of 3 years, had received COVID-19 vaccination and experienced depressive symptoms exhibited an increased risk of non-adherence. Contrarily, those who engaged in high-intensity physical activity exhibited a decreased risk. Physical activity was negatively associated with medication non-adherence (r=-0.124, p<0.001) with depression fully mediating this relationship (B=-0.014, 95% CI: -0.032 to -0.003). COVID-19 vaccination significantly moderated the relationship between physical activity and depression (B=-0.303, 95% CI: -0.515 to -0.090). CONCLUSION This study investigated the prevalence of medication non-adherence among SOT recipients during the COVID-19 reopening period in China, its associated factors and a potential mechanism. Depression fully mediated the association between physical activity and medication non-adherence, and COVID-19 vaccination moderated the relationship between physical activity and depression. These findings provide some insights for managing medication behaviour when confronting public health emergencies. However, relationships displayed in the moderated mediation model should be tracked after returning to normal life and other potential relationships should be explored to deeply understand medication non-adherent behaviour.

Abstract
Cardiovascular capacity, expressed as maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), is a strong predictor of health and fitness and is considered a key measure of physiological function in the healthy adult population. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the physical activity levels (PAlevel) of participants in the StepTest4all (validated protocol for the estimation of VO2max in adults). The sample consisted of 69 participants, including 27 women (age 21.7 ± 3.6 years; body mass = 63.5 ± 14.8 kg; height = 1.64 ± 0.06 m; body mass index = 23.7 ± 5.3 kg/m2) and 42 men (aged 21.7 ± 3.4 years; body mass = 72.0 ± 7.3 kg; height = 1.77 ± 0.07 m; body mass index = 23.1 ± 2.1 kg/m2). The participants were assigned to one of the two groups: (i) the VO2max prediction group and (ii) the prediction model validation group. In the multiple linear regression, the following predictors of VO2max remained significant: sex (p < 0.001), physical activity level (p = 0.014), and HRR60 (p = 0.020). The prediction equation (R2 = 74.0%, SEE = 4.78) showed a close and strong relationship between the measurements and can be expressed as follows: VO2max = 17.105 + 0.260·(HRR60) + 8.563·(sex) + 4.097·(PAlevel), in which HRR60 is the magnitude of the HR decrease (bpm) in one minute immediately after stopping the step, and sex: men = 1, women = 0, and PAlevel is level 1 (low), level 2 (moderate), and level 3 (high). The StepTest4all was shown to be a suitable method for estimating cardiovascular capacity, expressed as VO2max, in young adults. Retaining PAlevel as a significant predictor allows us to better individualize the participants' VO2max.

Abstract
Introduction Aging is becoming a major challenge for policymakers. Regular exercise helps keep elderly people mobile, enhances physical and mental abilities, and to some extent delays the effects of chronic illnesses. Objectives To evaluate the effectiveness of a multimodal intervention to increase physical activity levels among sedentary elderly living in socially and economically constrained settings. Materials and Methods A quasi-experimental study was conducted in selected old age homes in Puducherry, South India in 2022 for 3 months. Individuals aged ≥60 years, both genders residing in selected old-age homes were included through convenience sampling. The sample size was 36 subjects per arm [three arms namely E1, E2 (intervention arms), and C (control arm)]. Baseline data collection on physical activity was collected using a semi-structured questionnaire in all three arms. The intervention arms (E1 and E2) received a multimodal intervention to promote physical activity. In addition, E1 arms were instructed to perform exercises with an "exercise partner" and to maintain a daily log. At the end of 8 weeks, follow-up data collection was done using the same questionnaire in all three arms. Data entry was done by MS Excel 2010 and analysis using SPSS version 21. Results The mean (SD) of the days of physical activity per week and time of physical activity per day before and after the intervention among E1 and E2 were compared using paired t-tests. The difference between pre- and post-intervention was found to be statistically significant, that is, P value <0.05 in both the groups, thereby proving the effectiveness of the intervention. The difference between the three groups was found to be statistically significant, that is, P value <0.05. Conclusion This multimodal intervention is found to be effective in increasing the physical activity of the participants in the interventional arms. Furthermore, having an exercise partner was found to be beneficial in ensuring motivation and compliance to carry out physical activity among the elderly living in socially and economically constrained settings.

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease of the joints that affects greatly the elderly population and the health care systems and is on the increase due to aging and obesity. Interventions aim at palliative care and pharmaceutical therapies entail serious adverse events. Whereas polyphenols constitute a promising holistic approach in the arsenal of physicians, trials investigating biomarkers and questionnaires are scarce. As such, a randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted to evaluate the potency of a standardized polyphenolic supplement in the management of systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, pain and general quality of life (QoL) in patients with osteoarthritis. Sixty subjects were randomized to receive either a polyphenol supplement (curcuma phospholipid, rosemary extract, resveratrol, ascorbic acid), or an active comparator (ascorbic acid) twice, daily for 12 weeks. The group that received the polyphenols exhibited significantly lower symptoms of pain and improved physical function and QoL as it was depicted by validated questionnaires, compared to the control group. Furthermore, post intervention, inflammation was restrained in the polyphenol group. Since systemic inflammation promotes local inflammation, the decrease of pain herein might be attributed to the attenuation of systemic inflammation by the polyphenols.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Center-based cardiac rehabilitation programs (CRPs) reduce morbidity and mortality after an ischemic cardiac event; however, they are widely underused. Home-based CRP has emerged as an alternative to improve patient adherence; however, its safety and efficacy remain unclear, especially for older patients and female patients. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop a holistic home-based CRP for patients with ischemic heart disease and evaluate its safety and impact on functional capacity, adherence to a healthy lifestyle, and quality of life. METHODS The 8-week home-based CRP included patients of both sexes, with no age limit, who had overcome an acute myocardial infarction in the previous 3 months, had a left ventricular ejection fraction of ≥40%, and had access to a tablet or mobile device. The CRP was developed using a dedicated platform designed explicitly for this purpose and included 3 weekly exercise sessions combining tailored aerobic and strength training and 2 weekly educational session focused on lifestyle habits, therapeutic adherence, and patient empowerment. RESULTS We initially included 62 patients, of whom 1 was excluded for presenting with ventricular arrhythmias during the initial stress test, 5 were excluded because of incompatibility, and 6 dropped out because of a technological barrier. Ultimately, 50 patients completed the program: 85% (42/50) were male, with a mean age of 58.9 (SD 10.3) years, a mean left ventricular ejection fraction of 52.1% (SD 6.72%), and 25 (50%) New York Heart Association functional class I and 25 (50%) New York Heart Association II-III. The CRP significantly improved functional capacity (+1.6 metabolic equivalent tasks), muscle strength (arm curl test +15.5% and sit-to-stand test +19.7%), weekly training volume (+803 metabolic equivalent tasks), adherence to the Mediterranean diet, emotional state (anxiety), and quality of life. No major complications occurred, and adherence was excellent (>80%) in both the exercise and educational sessions. In the subgroup analysis, CRP showed equivalent beneficial effects irrespective of sex and age. In addition, patient preferences for CRP approaches were equally distributed, with one-third (14/50, 29%) of the patients preferring a face-to-face CRP, one-third (17/50, 34%) preferring a telematic CRP, and one-third (18/50, 37%) preferring a hybrid approach. Regarding CRP duration, 63% (31/50) of the patients considered it adequate, whereas the remaining 37% (19/50) preferred a longer program. CONCLUSIONS A holistic telematic CRP dedicated to patients after an ischemic cardiac event, irrespective of sex and age, is safe and, in our population, has achieved positive results in improving maximal aerobic capacity, weekly training volume, muscle strength, quality of life, compliance with diet, and anxiety symptoms. The preference for a center- or home-based CRP approach is diverse among the study population, emphasizing the need for a tailored CRP to improve adherence and completion rates.

Abstract
The importance of sufficient moderate-to-vigorous physical activity as a key component of a healthy lifestyle is well established, as are the health risks associated with high levels of sedentary behaviour. However, many people with RA do not undertake sufficient physical activity and are highly sedentary. To start addressing this, it is important to be able to carry out an adequate assessment of the physical activity levels of individual people in order that adequate steps can be taken to promote and improve healthy lifestyles. Different methods are available to measure different aspects of physical activity in different settings. In controlled laboratory environments, respiratory gas analysis can measure the energy expenditure of different activities accurately. In free-living environments, the doubly labelled water method is the gold standard for identifying total energy expenditure over a prolonged period of time (>10 days). To assess patterns of physical activity and sedentary behaviour in daily life, objective methods with body-worn activity monitors using accelerometry are superior to self-reported questionnaire- or diary-based methods.

Dietary inflammation index and osteoarthritis in the elderly: is there a mediating role of physical activity? Br J Nutr 2022; 128:2258-2266. Abstract
We examined whether physical activity (PA) explains the association between dietary inflammatory potential and osteoarthritis (OA) in the elderly. A total of 1249 elderly people (≥65 years) were eligible for this study from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2011 to 2016. The semi-quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and Global PA Questionnaire (GPAQ) were used to evaluate the diet and PA of the elderly, respectively. The multivariable logistic regression model estimated the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) between Energy-adjusted Dietary Inflammatory Index (E-DII) and OA. The interaction of E-DII and PA on depressive events was tested, and the mediation analysis of PA was performed. The average E-DII in this study was +0.68 (SE 0.08), and the score ranges from -5.32 (most anti-inflammatory) to +4.26 (most pro-inflammatory). In comparison with the first quartile, the elderly from the second quartile (OR: 1.16 [95% CI: 1.06, 1.68]) to the fourth quartile (OR: 1.64 [95% CI: 1.13, 2.37]) had a higher risk of OA before adjustment for PA. An interaction was observed between E-DII and PA in terms of the risk of OA (PInteraction < 0.001). The whole related part was mediated by PA (20.08%). Our findings indicated that the higher pro-inflammatory potential of diet was associated with a higher risk of OA, and low PA was an important part of the mediating factor in the relationship between systemic low-grade dietary inflammation and the risk of OA.

Abstract
Introduction Physical activity is essential for a healthy life and quality of life, representing a fundamental role in individuals' physical and mental health. Concomitantly, the physical therapist, through the promotion of physical activity and exercise, can improve mental health, an essential factor in the current pandemic, triggering anxiety, fear, and depression crisis. Objective To verify physical activity among Portuguese physical therapists and its association with mental health during pandemic times. Methods An online questionnaire was applied through social media to all Portuguese physical therapists between October 21, 2021, and January 14, 2022. It contained general characterization questions of the sample, the IPAQ-SF questionnaire to assess physical activity levels, the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), which assesses the levels of mental health and the WHO Well-Being Index (WHO-5) to assess the subjective wellbeing. Results The sample totaled 286 respondents (82% female), with a mean age of 33. Of the total answers, 82% practiced physical activity, 45% had moderate levels of physical activity, and 19% vigorous. Physical therapists in these categories had lower values in the GHQ-28 and higher in the WHO-5. Those with better mental health also showed better subjective wellbeing (r = -0.571, p = 0.000). Conclusion The data obtained showed that physical therapists mostly have moderate and vigorous levels of physical activity and that physical activity positively influences individuals' mental health and wellbeing, which proved to be a key factor due to the pandemic situation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to explore the underlying role and mechanism of LINC00313 in osteoarthritis (OA) progression. METHODS CHON-001 chondrocytes were treated with interleukin (IL)-1β to induce OA in vitro, and then transfected with LINC00313 overexpression plasmids (pcDNA-LINC00313) or small interfering RNA against tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-associated factor 1 (si-TRAF1). Cell viability, apoptosis, levels of inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), IL-6 and IL-8, and expression of extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation related proteins in CHON-001 cells were determined. TRAF1 promoter methylation were was detected with methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP) assay. Furthermore, a c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling activator was used to confirm whether the apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1)/JNK signaling pathway was involved in the function of LINC00313/TRAF1 axis in chondrocytes. In addition, an OA mouse model was established and lentivirus LINC00313 overexpression vector (Lv-LINC00313) was injected, and then inflammatory cytokine levels, ECM protein expression, and pathological changes in cartilage tissues were detected. RESULTS LINC00313 was downregulated and TRAF1 was upregulated in OA cartilage tissues. LINC00313 overexpression or TRAF1 silencing attenuated IL-1β-induced viability inhibition, apoptosis, inflammation and ECM degradation in CHON-001 cells. Moreover, LINC00313 inhibited TRAF1 expression through promoting DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) mediated promoter methylation. TRAF1 overexpression reversed the effects of LINC00313 on IL-1β-induced chondrocyte injury. LINC00313 overexpression inhibited the ASK1/JNK signaling pathway, and JNK activator reversed the effect. In addition, Lv-LINC00313 treatment alleviated cartilage tissue damage and cartilage matrix degradation in OA mice. CONCLUSIONS LINC00313 alleviated OA progression through inhibiting TRAF1 expression and the ASK1/JNK signaling pathway.

Abstract
Pain interventions typically include effortful exercise and long-term treatment - ie, short-term costs (effort) with delayed benefit (improved pain and/or function). Thus, understanding if long-term pain influences decision-making in context of delays and effort is essential given clear relevance to treatment uptake and/or adherence. We evaluated delay and effort attitudes in those experiencing chronic pain (n = 391) and in pain-free controls (n = 263). Additionally, we investigated the role of bodily sensation awareness and/or interpretation as potential contributing factors to altered decision-making. Volunteers completed three discounting questionnaires, assessing the influence of temporal delays (gains, losses) and effort on devaluation of monetary outcomes. Individuals with chronic pain had more short-sighted decisions for monetary gains, but not losses, and decreased willingness to undertake effort for monetary gains than the No Pain group. The Pain group had higher bodily sensation awareness and while this related to higher impulsivity, delay and effort discounting, neither awareness nor interpretation of bodily sensations interacted with pain levels or explained group differences in discounting behavior. These findings suggest that impaired delay and effort-based discounting is present in people with chronic pain, and that this may be driven by pain-induced changes, but not pain-induced enhancements in bodily sensation awareness and/or interpretation. Exploring the utility of interventions targeting discounting behavior is warranted. PERSPECTIVE: People with chronic pain make more short-sighted decisions (prefer less reward sooner) and decreased willingness to undertake effort (prefer less reward with little effort) for monetary gains than people without pain. Interventions targeting discounting behavior may help improve both uptake and adherence for evidence-based, effortful treatments, such as exercise.

Abstract
Objective This study evaluated the lifestyle changes in patients with diabetes and their independent associations with glycemic and body weight control. In addition, the correlation between changes in mental health and lifestyles was evaluated. Methods This single-center cross-sectional study included 340 patients with diabetes who periodically visited our department. Changes in dietary habits, activities of daily living, and mental health before and during approximately six months after the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic were evaluated using a questionnaire, including the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form. Results Approximately 20%, 30%, and over 50% of patients had worsened dietary habits, decreased activities of daily living, and deteriorated mental health, respectively. A multiple regression analysis showed that irregular meal timing was significantly associated with change in HbA1c (β=0.328, p=0.001), and decreased walking time was significantly associated with changes in body weight (β=-0.245, p=0.025). The change in fear and anxiety was positively associated with changes in meal timing regularity (r=0.129, p=0.019) and carbohydrate consumption (r=0.127, p=0.021). Subsequently, the change in depressed mood was positively associated with changes in carbohydrate (r=0.142, p=0.010) and alcohol (r=0.161, p=0.037) consumption, and the change in psychological stress was positively associated with changes in carbohydrates (r=0.183, p=0.001) and snack (r=0.151, p=0.008) consumption as well as sedentary time (r=0.158, p=0.004). Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic has had a considerable medium-term impact on the lifestyle and mental health of patients with diabetes. Lifestyle changes were associated with glycemic and body weight control, and mental health changes were associated with lifestyle changes. These findings may provide important information on diabetes care during the pandemic.

Abstract
In recent time, the specialists in the field of physical education and health protection have no consensus on the need to include stretching exercises as an obligatory type of physical activity for apparently healthy young people. The problem is that most university students tend to have sedentary lifestyle. According to some reports, this can negatively affect the flexibility of the hamstrings and, as a result, lead to a decrease in physical performance. To maintain and develop flexibility, special stretching techniques are traditionally used, which caused the point about the necessity to include them in weekly physical activity. The opposite position is that flexibility is perfectly developed and maintained through the performance of healthier types of physical activity. In this case, the flexibility of the hamstrings should be correlated with the amount of physical activity. The aim of the research was to study the relationship between the amount of physical activity of students and the flexibility of the hamstrings. To achieve this aim, a correlation study was conducted. The results of the study showed that there is a noticeable significant correlation between the total value of physical activity of students and the flexibility of the hamstrings. This, in turn, is an additional reinforcement of the position that there is no strict need to include stretching as an obligatory component of the physical activity of university students to maintain and develop the flexibility of the hamstrings.

Effects of Protein-Rich Nutritional Composition Supplementation on Sarcopenia Indices and Physical Activity during Resistance Exercise Training in Older Women with Knee Osteoarthritis. Abstract
Older adults with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) are at high risk of sarcopenia. Protein-rich nutritional composition supplementation (PS) combined with resistance exercise training (RET) improves muscle gains and facilitates physical activity in older adults. However, whether PS augments the effects of RET on muscle mass and PA in patients with KOA remains unclear. Therefore, this study identified the effects of PS on sarcopenic indices and PA in older women with KOA subjected to an RET program. Eligible older women aged 60–85 years and diagnosed as having KOA were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (EG) or the control group (CG). Both groups performed RET twice a week for 12 weeks. The EG received additional PS during this period. Outcome measures included appendicular lean mass index, walking speed, physical activity, and scores on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index—WOMAC). All measures were tested at baseline and after intervention. With participant characteristics and baseline scores as covariates, analysis of variance was performed to identify between-group differences in changes in all outcome measures after intervention. Statistical significance was defined as p < 0.05. Compared with the CG, the EG achieved greater changes in appendicular lean mass index (adjusted mean difference (aMD) = 0.19 kg/m2, p < 0.01), physical activity (aMD = 30.0 MET-hour/week, p < 0.001), walking speed (aMD = 0.09 m/s, p < 0.05), and WOMAC global function (aMD = −8.21, p < 0.001) after intervention. In conclusion, PS exerted augmentative effects on sarcopenic indices, physical activity, and perceived global WOMAC score in older women with KOA through 12 weeks of RET.
