Abstract
INTRODUCTION Gastrointestinal duplication is a rare congenital anomaly, usually occurring in childhood and rarely in adults. It is most common in the ileum, but can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus. An adult case of intestinal duplication is accompanied by non-specific symptoms and, hence, it is often difficult to establish accurate diagnosis preoperatively in adults. CASE PRESENTATION We experienced two cases of ileal duplication that was manifested as acute abdomen. In both cases, we performed emergency surgery with a tentative preoperative diagnosis of perforation peritonitis related to intestinal duplication. The first case was a 36-year-old male presenting with a cystic non-communicating intestinal duplication, which was perforated, causing abdominal pain. The second case was a 77-year-old male presenting with tubular communicating intestinal duplication, in which a fecal stone was fitted into the root of the duplicated intestine, and the duplicated intestine itself became abscessed, causing abdominal pain. Their postoperative courses were uneventful and the patients were discharged from hospital without any sequelae on the 5th and 10th postoperative day, respectively. CONCLUSION Although preoperative diagnosis is not easy, because the clinical presentation varies depending on the occurrence site, in-depth evaluation of preoperative CT images could lead to a precise diagnosis especially when considering intestinal duplication as one of the differential diagnoses of acute abdomen.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE Intestinal duplication is an uncommon congenital malformation affecting the alimentary tract. This article presents a case of enteric duplication cyst (EDC) in an adult, accompanied by a review of the available literature. CASE PRESENTATION A 34-year-old woman with polymyositis underwent a routine CT scan as part of her medical assessment revealing an 8 cm mass near the caecum and terminal ileum. Diagnostic procedures confirmed a cystic spherical mass. The patient underwent ileo-cecal resection, with primary anastomosis and an uneventful recovery. CLINICAL DISCUSSION Studies indicate that the frequency of polymyositis coexisting with a neoplasm range from 6 % to 40 %. Therefore, a body CT scan is recommended for patients with myopathy as in our patient. Intestinal duplications are predominantly found in children but can also occur in adults, often discovered incidentally or due to complications. Diagnostic imaging techniques, such as ultrasonography and CT scan, are crucial in identifying duplication location and characteristics. In this case, colonoscopy indicated ileocecal valve compression, and histological examination confirmed an enteric duplication cyst with ectopic gastric mucosa. CONCLUSION Enteric duplication cysts are rare, and the existing literature on the topic somewhat limited. Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are essential to stave off potential complications and reduce morbidity. Clinician awareness of enteric duplication cysts enables timely management, enhancing patient outcomes. Further research is needed to improve understanding and optimize patient care.

Abstract
The ileal duplication, which is a congenital anatomical abnormality of the digestive tract, can lead to the manifestation of the alimentary tract duplication in the small intestine. It is also the rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding and usually seen in infants, but only rarely in adults. Herein, we describe a case of adult male was suffering from intermittent massive hematochezia for three years, accompanied by abdominal pain, syncope, and palpitations. However, no positive findings were found by gastroscopy and colonoscopy in other hospitals. He visited our hospital owing to the recurrent hematochezia, but re-examination by gastroscopy and colonoscopy indicated no significant abnormality, and hence small intestinal vascular malformation bleeding was considered. Therefore, double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) examination was conducted and the results revealed a double-lumen opening in the ileum, which was 100 cm from the ileocecal valve. The blind end was observed 6 cm away from one opening along the depth direction, and an ulcer was observed on the intestinal wall of the blind segment, which was considered as an ileal duplication. The patient thereafter underwent surgery subsequently. Postoperative pathology confirmed ileal duplication and that gastrointestinal bleeding was primarily caused by ulcer hemorrhage. The patient had no discomfort after the follow-up. In this report, we have reviewed and summarized the literature to provide references for both diagnosis and treatment of ileal duplication.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal duplications are congenital malformations that are usually observed in pediatric patients. Diagnosis in adulthood is quite rare, and preoperative diagnosis of gastrointestinal duplication is difficult, particularly in the small intestine. We encountered an extremely rare adult case of duplication of the jejunum, which showed a stomach-like form diagnosed using double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE). The patient was an 18-year-old male who had been experiencing upper abdominal pain and vomiting repeatedly without any triggers for 3 years. Various examinations were performed, but no cause of symptoms was found. DBE revealed a narrow opening of the lumen at the upper jejunum, and the lumen was covered with mucosal folds similar to those of the stomach. Enteroclysis via DBE showed a tubular structure on the mesenteric side of the jejunum. We diagnosed a jejunal tubular duplication with ectopic gastric mucosa and underwent partial small bowel resection. The patient's abdominal symptoms resolved. From this, DBE can be a useful tool for diagnosing intestinal duplication in adults. We believe that this case and literature review will facilitate the accurate and prompt diagnosis of small intestinal duplication.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intestinal intussusception caused by intestinal duplication and ectopic pancreas is extremely rare in the clinic and has not been reported previously.
CASE SUMMARY A 29-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for chronic abdominal pain and bloating. The preoperative diagnosis was intestinal obstruction and intussusception. Then, laparotomy, partial small intestinal resection and extraintestinal decompression were performed. Postoperative pathology confirmed intestinal duplication and ectopic pancreas. After surgery, the patient recovered well with no complications. No recurrence was observed after more than 5 mo of follow-up.
CONCLUSION We report a new case of a young male with intussusception caused by intestinal duplication and ectopic pancreas. Surgery is the main treatment for these conditions. This study aimed to raise awareness and provide information to improve the clinical management of this rare yet serious condition.

Abstract
CONTEXT To study the previously discovered clinical entity of adult intestinal duplication and its treatment, and propose an extension to its existing classification. CASE REPORT We report the case of an adult male with abdominal pain, constipation and vomiting. This patient underwent surgical separation of adhesions, reduction of torsion and intestinal decompression. Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the rare diagnosis of intestinal duplication. CONCLUSION Adult intestinal duplication is quite rare. Its clinical manifestations are nonspecific. From this finding of intestinal duplication originating at the opposite side of the mesenteric margin, a further extension of the existing anatomical classification is proposed.
