Abstract
Five oleanane-type saponins were isolated from two cultivars of Wisteria floribunda (Willd.) DC. (Fabaceae): From the roots of Wisteria floribunda “macrobotrys”, one new oleanane derivative elucidated as 3- O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucuronopyranosyl-22- O-acetyl-3p,22p,24-trihydroxyolean-12-en-30-oic acid, and two known glycosides, and from the roots of Wisteria floribunda “rosea”, two known ones. Their structures were elucidated by a detailed 600 MHz NMR analysis including 1D and 2D NMR (1H, 13C, COSY, TOCSY, ROESY, HSQC, HMBC) experiments and mass spectrometry. Chemotaxonomic conclusions were proposed.

Studies on the constituents of Gliricidia sepium (Leguminosae) leaves and roots: isolation and structure elucidation of new triterpenoid saponins and aromatic compounds. Abstract
Our research program on the Central American fooder plant Gliricidia sepium led to the discovery of two new triterpene saponins (1 and 2) and known aromatic compounds. The new compounds possess 3beta,21beta, 24-trihydroxy-22-oxoolean-12-ene as an aglycon. The oligosaccharide moiety linked to C-3 of the aglycon contained two pyranoses (glucuronic acid and xylose); in addition the glucose residue of both 1 and 2 is also linked to C-21. Structure elucidation of these new compounds through the extensive use of 1D and 2D NMR techniques have provided detailed information about the sapogenin and the saccharide chains, inclusive of sugar sequence and the position of glycosylation.

Abstract
Six novel cycloartane-type glycosides were isolated from the roots of Astragalus trojanus. Two of these, compounds 1 and 2, have (20R, 24S)-epoxy-3beta,6alpha,16beta,25-tetrahydroxycycloartane as the aglycon, while compounds 3-6 possess 3beta,6alpha,16beta,(24S), 25-pentahydroxycycloartane as the aglycon. The saccharide moieties linked to the C-3, C-6, and C-24 or C-25 positions of the aglycons in 1-6 contained either xylopyranose, glucopyranose, rhamnopyranose, or arabinopyranose units. Structure elucidation of compounds 1-6 was accomplished through the extensive use of 1D and 2D NMR techniques. In addition, a new oleanene glycoside (7) and a new tryptophan derivative (8) were also isolated and characterized.

Abstract
Investigation of the constituents of Phyllanthus virgatus has led to the isolation of five new compounds, including a norlignan, 2-(3, 4-methylenedioxybenzyl)-4-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-3-butyne-1, 2-diol named virgatyne (1); a hydrolyzable tannin, virganin (2); and three flavonoid sulfonates, galangin-8-sulfonate (4), galangin-3-O-beta-D-glucoside-8-sulfonate (5), and kaempferol-8-sulfonate (6). Their structures were established by spectral and chemical methods.

Abstract
Extraction of the roots of Baptisia australis afforded a new triterpenoid saponin, baptisiasaponin I together with kaikasaponin III. The structure of baptisiasaponin I was elucidated as 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl- (1-->2)-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl sophoradiol on the basis of its spectral data and chemical degradation.
