Abstract
This study investigated neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the association between impulsivity and cue-induced craving in methamphetamine use disorder (MUD). EEG recordings from 42 males with MUD and 46 healthy controls during rest and virtual reality cue exposure revealed three key findings: First, central-parietal beta power (Cz/Cp1) significantly increased during cue exposure in MUD patients (p < 0.001). Second, mediation analysis demonstrated a dual pathway where motor impulsivity (BIS-11) both directly exacerbated craving (β = 0.326, p = 0.001) and indirectly attenuated it through enhanced beta oscillations (indirect effect: β = -0.081, 95% CI [-0.189, -0.001]). Third, the net effect remained positive (total effect = 0.244), suggesting incomplete compensation. These findings highlight central beta oscillations as a potential biomarker for craving regulation in high-impulsivity individuals.

Abstract
Methamphetamine use typically starts in adolescence, and early onset is associated with worse outcomes. Yet, health, functional, and cognitive outcomes associated with methamphetamine use in young people are not well understood. The aim of this study was to comprehensively assess the evidence on health, functional, and cognitive outcomes in young people (10-25 years-old) who use methamphetamine. Sixty-six studies were included. The strongest association observed was with conduct disorder, with young people who use methamphetamine some 13 times more likely to meet conduct disorder criteria than controls. They were also more likely to have justice system involvement and to perpetrate violence against others. Educational problems were consistently associated with youth methamphetamine use. The cognitive domain most reliably implicated was inhibitory control. Key limitations in the literature were identified, including heterogenous measurement of exposure and outcomes, lack of adequate controls, and limited longitudinal evidence. Outcomes identified in the present review - suggesting complex and clinically significant behavioural issues in this population - are informative for the development of future research and targeted treatments.

Abstract
Australia has one of the highest rates in the world of the use of the crystalline form of methamphetamine, a highly addictive stimulant that is often associated with a chronic, relapsing dependency. Methamphetamine use is associated with both acquisitive and violent offending, which cause substantial personal and societal costs. Whilst the short-term euphoria and stimulation provide a positive reinforcement to methamphetamine use, the aversive states of withdrawing from methamphetamine and the associated craving, which may last up to five weeks into abstinence, underlie the negative reinforcement to continued methamphetamine use. Although many methamphetamine-dependent users experience high levels of psychological distress, it is likely that less than half engage with treatment or support services, and current intervention and treatment programmes have high discontinuation rates. Stigma and discrimination, even from paramedics and health clinicians, are prominent barriers to methamphetamine-dependent users accessing treatment in Australia.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Illicit stimulant (cocaine and/or amphetamine) use among young people aged 12-24 is a public health priority given that substance use initiation tends to peak in this developmental period and significant associated immediate and long-term harms are associated with its use. Young people using stimulants must be engaged in services as early as possible to reduce these harms. To inform early intervention opportunities, this study aimed to identify the risk/protective factors associated with illicit stimulant use among young people. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study on routinely collected self-reported data among young people accessing integrated youth services in British Columbia (Canada) between April 2018 and January 2022. Data were collected on young peoples' socio-demographic characteristics, and social, behavioral, and health profiles. Variable selection was guided by established risk/protective factors for substance use among young people. The study used multivariable logistic regression to identify risk/protective factors that were independently associated with past 30-day illicit stimulant use. RESULTS The analytic sample included n = 5620 young people aged 12-24 and a total of 163 (2.9 %) reported past 30-day illicit cocaine and/or amphetamine use. Demographic characteristics that were independently associated with illicit stimulant use included older age (aOR = 1.27, 95 % CI = 1.17-1.38) and gender identity as man vs woman (aOR = 1.71, 95 % CI = 1.10-2.70). Social and environmental risk factors included recently witnessing or experiencing violence (aOR = 2.32, 95 % CI = 1.47-3.68) and higher past-year crime/violent behaviors score (aOR = 1.39, 95 % CI = 1.13-1.69). Finally, regular alcohol (aOR = 6.90, 95 % CI = 2.36-25.42), regular (aOR = 3.74, 95 % CI = 1.95-7.54) or social (aOR = 3.06, 95 % CI = 1.44-6.60) tobacco use, and lifetime hallucinogen (aOR = 3.24, 95 % CI = 1.8-5.91) and ecstasy/MDMA (aOR = 2.53, 95 % CI = 1.48-4.39) use were also statistically significant risk factors. CONCLUSIONS These risk/protective factors support identification of young people who may benefit from further screening, assessment, and treatment for illicit stimulant use. This study also underscores the need to expand early intervention and harm reduction programs that can comprehensively respond to young peoples' stimulant use, health, and social needs.

Abstract
The scope of this research outlines the field of study on public health policies for youth supported by bibliometric maps, from the perspective of identifying research gaps. VOSviewer software was used based on the exploratory-descriptive profile, with data located in October 2021, using the key words "public", "youth", "health" with the connecting "and", which resulted in 172 articles. The following groupings were located: co-authorship by country; co-authorship by key words; co-quote by article; co-quote by reference cited; bibliographic coupling; co-quote of authors. The results reveal an interdisciplinary field, represented by studies in the areas of education, social work, law, and social sciences, with a significant recurrence of the themes of mental health, violence, and obesity, as well as discussions on substance use and abuse, such as cigarette smoking for example. Debates about the social configuration, defined by the idea of community, as well as its prevalence and prevention are present in the scope of these studies. Finally, eight research agenda topics are derived from the discussion about the growing movement towards health promotion as a public policy, while socio-economic and cultural aspects are presented with greater emphasis, in the quest to understand the impacts of this scenario for youth.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND AIMS Crystal methamphetamine (CM) is associated with a range of physical and mental health harms and may be of particular concern among young people at risk of early, problematic substance use, such as those in contact with the criminal justice system. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and correlates of regular (i.e. at least weekly) CM use among young people preceding entry into custody. DESIGN AND METHODS Data were collected from 207 participants aged 14-18 years as part of the 2015 Young People in Custody Health Survey, a cross-sectional survey of youth in custody in New South Wales, Australia. Participants were administered face-to-face structured interviews assessing sociodemographic, childhood and family characteristics, offending history, substance use and psychopathology. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors independently associated with regular CM use. RESULTS Regular CM use was reported by 31% of participants and was independently associated with higher levels of antisocial traits/behaviour [adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 1.13, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.02, 1.25], increased polydrug use (AOR 1.34, 95% CI 1.14, 1.58), injecting drug use (AOR 4.06, 95% CI 1.02, 16.16) and meeting symptom thresholds for two or more current psychological disorders (AOR 3.20, 95% CI 1.15, 8.94). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS Regular CM users present with more complex comorbidity than other young people in custody, increasing the health-care burden in custodial and community settings. Early identification and appropriate treatment of this comorbidity is crucial to improving the health, psychosocial and behavioural outcomes of this vulnerable group.
