Abstract
This study introduces a dual-mode biosensor specifically designed for the quantitative detection of viruses in rapid analysis. The biosensor is unique in its use of both optical (fluorescence) and electrochemical (impedance) detection methods using the same nanocomposites, providing a dual confirmation system for virus (norovirus-like particles) quantification. The system is based on using two antibody-conjugated nanocomposites: CdSeS quantum dots and Au-N,S-GQD nanocomposites. For optical detection, the principle relies on the fluorescence quenching of CdSeS by Au-N,S-GQD in a sandwich structure with the target. Conversely, electrochemical detection is based on the change in impedance caused by the formation of the same sandwich structure. The biosensor demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, capable of detecting norovirus at concentrations of as low as femtomolar in the electrochemical method and picomolar in the optical method. In the dual-responsive concentration range from 10-13 to 10-10 M, the sensor is highly sensitive in both methods, creating significant changes in fluorescence intensity and impedance in the presence of virus. Furthermore, the biosensor exhibits a high degree of specificity, with a negligible response to nontarget proteins, even within complex test solutions. This work represents a significant advancement in the field of biosensor technology, offering a fast, accurate, and reliable method for diagnosing viral infections and diseases.

Abstract
Background Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common bacterial pathogens in humans. It is a microaerophilic bacteria with multiple unipolar flagella. It is associated with the development of various lesions like chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, adenocarcinoma, and mucosa-associated lymphomas. The aim of this study was a comparative evaluation of the rapid urease test (RUT) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in gastric biopsy and aspirates for the detection of H. pylori infection and to further determine the sensitivity and specificity of RUT and PCR. Method Endoscopic guided biopsy tissue and gastric aspirate specimens were collected from 110 patients with symptoms like gastritis, dyspepsia, etc., and subjected to RUT and PCR for detection of H. pylori infection. Results A total of 110 samples, including both biopsy tissue (77) and gastric aspirate (33) were subjected to RUT and PCR. RUT for biopsy tissue showed the highest sensitivity (97.18%), compared to gastric aspirate (78.94%). Comparing RUT with PCR, the sensitivity and specificity of PCR were 93.33% and 90.0%, respectively. The positive predictive value (PPV) of PCR was 97.67%, the negative predictive value (NPV) was 75.0%, and the accuracy was 92.73%. Conclusion The present study showed that RUT is a rapid and accurate invasive test for the detection of Helicobacter pylori infection in biopsy tissue as compared to gastric aspirate specimens, which are more sensitive to PCR. The study also showed that biopsy tissue was found to be a superior specimen for the detection of Helicobacter pylori as compared to gastric aspirate.

Abstract
Acid Peptic Disease (APD) is worldwide health issue for the surgeons, mainly due to risk and associated complications like Gastric Ulcer (GU), Duodenal Ulcer (DU), Gastro intestinal tract (GIT) perforation. This aims at early detection of disease which is caused by Helicobacter Pylori (HP) and intervention prevents the further complications. This study is Cohort study was conducted in the endoscopic unit of Department of General Surgery Tertiary care teaching Hospital over a period of 1 year with a sample size of 121. All the patients suitable for the study in regards to the inclusion and exclusion criteria are subjected to both the study until the sample size is achieved, with the prior agreement of the institutional ethical committee. All the participants are tested with RUT and ELISA and 87.60% had RUT positive and 86.78% had ELISA positive infection. RUT had sensitivity of 87.62% in predicting ELISA, specificity was 12.50%, with a total diagnostic accuracy of 77.69%. We treated 51.24% with the CMO kit and 48.76% with HP kit. O

Abstract
Some research has suggested that dental plaque and saliva could be reservoirs of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and be capable of infecting or re-infecting the gastric mucosa after eradication, with certain studies showing a significant association between PD and gastric infection by this bacterium. An electronic search was performed in PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases with the terms “Helicobacter pylori AND periodontal diseases”; “Helicobacter pylori AND gingivitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND chronic periodontitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND periodontitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND dental plaque”, to identify articles up to September 2021. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to assess study quality. A meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 2020 (Cochane Collaboration) software. A total of 1,315 studies were identified and 12 were included, analyzing 226,086 patients with mean age between 10.5 and 63.4 years. The prevalence of H. pylori in the oral cavity ranged from 5.4 to 83.3%. A random-effects model was used to analyze the presence of H. pylori and subgroups were made according to the method of evaluation (PCR or RUT). Statistical significance was found in the overall analysis (p = 0.01). There is no clear evidence that H. pylori present in oral bacterial plaque causes gastric infection and vice versa.

Abstract
Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders such as leukoplakia, lichenplanus, Oral Submucous Fibrosis are most commonly encountered precancerous lesions in India. Although, usage of smoking tobacco has been decreased yet incidence of oral cancer seems to be in increasing trend. Apart from tobacco many non-tobacco causes are associated with the disease. Helicobacter pylori is a curved, flagellated bacterium that has been declared as group I carcinogen by WHO. They are proven causative agent for gastric carcinoma. They have been shown to harbour oral cavity by many authours. They produce onco-protein that causes DNA damage. CagA and VacA are such proteins that modulate certain oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes. In this study we have identified the organism from sub gingival plaque by PCR and those who harboured the organism were further subjected for identification of oncoproteins CagA and VacA by ELISA. This study shows that presence of organism in Oral leucoplakia, oral lichenplanus and Oral Submucous Fibrosis are statistically significant in comparison to control group (p>0.05). The presence of oncoproteins was also statistically significant in comparison to control group. These proteins are shown to accelerate inflammatory pathway thereby hasten the process of tumorigenesis. H.pylori infection as well the virulent strains can be diagnosed from oral cavity in the most non-invasive way at the earliest.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is still the main health threat being the third leading cause of deaths from cancers in the world. The major risk behind the gastric cancer is that it remains asymptomatic in the early stages and in (97%) cases it metastasizes to other organs. Gastric cancer is a multifactorial disease in which Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been known as a risk factor. However, patients with gastritis, especially atrophic gastritis and gastric ulcer have been shown to be at an increased risk for developing gastric cancer. METHODS This study included measuring the serum levels of E-Cadherin protein, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in 30 patients diagnosed with gastritis, 20 gastric ulcer patients, 20 gastric cancer patients and in 20 healthy volunteers serving as the control group. RESULTS Infection with H. pylori was diagnosed by serology (IgA and IgG antibodies) as well as by rapid urease test (RUT) and histology. The results showed that 50 (71.4%) of the patients were positive for H. pylori. Levels of E-Cadherin were increased significantly in all patients in comparison to the control group with a large significant increase in the gastric cancer group. The levels of E-Cadherin were also significantly increased in H. pylori infected patients compared to H. pylori negative patients. A non-significant difference in the levels of CA19-9 and CEA was observed in all patients in comparison to healthy controls. CONCLUSION This study concluded that serum E-Cadherin could be considered as a potential marker in diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori infection is most prevalent in developing countries. It is an etiological agent of peptic ulcer, gastric adenocarcinoma, and mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Despite the development of different assays to confirm H. pylori infection, the diagnosis of infection is challenged by precision of the applied assay. Hence, the aim of this study was to understand the diagnostic accuracy of PCR and microscopy to detect the H. pylori in the gastric antrum biopsy specimen from gastric disorder patients. METHODS A total of 52 patients with gastric disorders underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with biopsy. The H. pylori infection in gastric biopsies was identified after examination by microscopy and 23S rRNA specific PCR. The agreement between two test results were analysed by McNemar's test and Kappa coefficient. RESULT H. pylori infection was confirmed in 9 (17.30%) patients by both assays, 6.25% in antral gastritis, 22.22% in gastric ulcer, 100% in gastric ulcer with duodenitis, 50% in gastric ulcer with duodenal ulcer, and 33.33% in severe erosive duodenitis with antral gastritis. Out of nine H. pylori infection confirmed patients, 3 patients were confirmed by microscopy and 8 patients by PCR. In case of two patients, both microscopy and PCR assay confirmed the H. pylori infection. The agreement between two test results was 86.54% and disagreed by 13.46% (p value > 0.05). CONCLUSION We found that PCR assay to detect H. pylori is more sensitive than microscopy. However, we advocate for the combination of both assays to increase the strength of diagnostic accuracy due to the absence of the gold standard assay for H. pylori infection.

Abstract
Objective The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of clarithromycin-resistant Helicobacter pylori in asymptomatic children in a rural community of Cajamarca (northern Peru). Results Helicobacter pylori was detected in 17.2% (49/285) of the samples. Unboiled water consumption the most frequent associated factor in patients with positive PCR for H. pylori infection (93.9%). Clarithromycin resistant mutations were found in 79.6% (39/49) of the positive samples for H. pylori. The most frequent mutation was A2142G (46.9%), followed by the double-mutation A2142G–A2143G (28.6%).

Abstract
H. pylori infection causes peptic ulcer, chronic gastritis, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, and gastric carcinoma. It has several virulence factors such as cytotoxin-associated gene A(cagA) and the induced by contact with epithelium antigen (iceA). We aimed to explore the relationship between cagA and iceA of H. pylori and gastrointestinal diseases. One hundred and eighteen patients who attended Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit at Zagazig University Hospitals, Egypt, were included in this study. Two gastric biopsies were collected and evaluated by rapid urease test (RUT) and PCR. cagA and iceA genes were amplified by PCR. We found that 54 patients (45.76%) were positive by both RUT and PCR. cagA and iceA genes were present in 57.4% and 46.29% of the studied patients, respectively. cagA was the most prevalent gene in gastritis (33.3%) and peptic ulcer (68.7%). iceA1/iceA2 positive genes were the most prevalent in gastric cancer (75%). iceA1 gene was present in 38.7% of cagA positive cases, but iceA2 gene was present in 45.2% of cagA positive cases. iceA1/iceA2 positive genes were present in 29% of cagA positive cases. In conclusion, cagA and iceA genes could be used as markers for severe gastrointestinal diseases. iceA gene was strongly related to cagA gene.

Abstract
Background and aim Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is an important and common contagious human pathogen which may cause peptic ulcer and also gastric cancer. The definite diagnosis of it is made through invasive tests. Recently, non-invasive tests including serologic tests of serum and saliva have been conducted for diagnosis of H. pylori infection. In this research, the diagnostic values of serum and salivary serology were compared together to use salivary anti-H. pylori test as an alternative method in the future. Methods During this prospective case-control study on patients who were candidates for endoscopy and gastric biopsy from March 2015 to April 2016 in Shahid Beheshti hospital, Kashan, Iran, serum and salivary samples were obtained for measurement of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels against H. pylori by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Histopathology was the gold standard test. Statistical analysis was performed by SPSS software version 16. Statistical tests included Kolmogorov-Smirnov, independent-samples t-test, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, McNemar and correlation. Results Of 123 patients, sixty-one patients (49.6%) were H. pylori-positive according to histology. The median levels of anti-H. pylori antibodies in serum (p<0.001) and saliva (p<0.001) of H. pylori-positive cases were significantly higher than H. pylori-negative cases. Sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio and accuracy of serologic tests in serum were 75%, 79%, 3.5, 0.3, 77% and for saliva were 85%, 82%, 4.7, 0.18, 84% respectively. Conclusion Diagnostic values of salivary ELISA are comparable to serum ELISA and can be used as an alternative modality for diagnosis of H. pylori infection.
