Abstract
INTRODUCTION Supporting positive diet behaviours during infancy is essential to support child health and prevent childhood obesity. How infant diet-related outcomes are measured in trials is crucial to determining intervention effectiveness. This scoping review examined what and how outcome measurement instruments are currently used to measure 13 infant diet-related outcomes from a previously developed core outcome set. METHODS The databases EMBASE, MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO were searched from inception to September 2023. Eligible studies reported trials that included infants ≤1 year old and at least one diet-related outcome measurement instrument. Titles/abstracts and full texts were independently screened in duplicate. Data were narratively synthesised. RESULTS 136 studies reporting 133 trials were included. Outcome measurement instruments used included 66 questionnaires (n = 70 studies), 65 individual questions (n = 45 studies), 24 food diaries/records (n = 21 studies), 11 24-hour dietary recall (n = 11 studies), and healthcare record data (n = 6 studies). Outcome measurement instruments were predominantly self-administered by researchers in participants homes. There was a lack of reporting for some outcome measurements used. CONCLUSION Review findings highlight the need to improve clarity and completeness of outcome reporting. The findings also provide an important first step to address heterogeneity in measurement of infant diet-related outcomes. Consistent measurement of diet-related outcomes is needed to improve synthesis and evaluation of obesity prevention interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breastfeeding self-efficacy is a woman's self-belief and confidence in her perceived ability to breastfeed. This modifiable determinant is strongly associated with breastfeeding initiation, exclusivity, and duration. It is unclear how important the timing of breastfeeding self-efficacy measurement and interventions are. The prenatal period appears underexplored in the literature and yet a prenatal focus provides increased opportunity for breastfeeding self-efficacy enhancement and further potential improvement in breastfeeding outcomes. This scoping review aims to synthesise the evidence on prenatal breastfeeding self-efficacy, describing for the first time the theoretical frameworks, measurement tools, and interventions used in the prenatal period. METHODS 8 databases were searched using the PCC framework (Problem: breastfeeding, Concept: self-efficacy, Context: prenatal period). From 4,667 citations and 156 additional sources identified through grey literature and snowballing, data were extracted from 184 studies and 2 guidance documents. All were summarised descriptively and narratively. RESULTS Just over half (57%) of included studies stated their theoretical underpinning, with Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory / Dennis' Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Framework predominant. Only half of intervention studies incorporated theory in their design. More intervention studies were undertaken in the past decade than previously, but the level of theoretical underpinning has not improved. Prenatal interventions incorporating theory-led design and using components addressing the breadth of theory, more frequently reported improving breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding outcomes than those not theory-led. Intervention components used less frequently were vicarious or kinaesthetic learning (52.5%) and involvement of social circle support (26%). The Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scales were the most common measurement tool, despite being designed for postpartum use. Overall, issues were identified with the late prenatal timing of breastfeeding self-efficacy investigation and the design, content and phraseology of measurements and interventions used in the prenatal period. CONCLUSION This review provides novel insights for consideration in the design and conduct of breastfeeding self-efficacy studies in the prenatal period. Future research should aim to be theory-led, commence earlier in pregnancy, and embed the breadth of self-efficacy theory into the design of interventions and measurement tools. This would provide more robust data on prenatal breastfeeding self-efficacy's role in impacting breastfeeding outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breastfeeding behaviors are strongly influenced by self-efficacy. This research aimed to determine the effect of breastfeeding counseling based on the Ready Set Baby (RSB) education program on self-efficacy and breastfeeding performance in adolescent mothers. METHODS In 2022, a parallel randomized clinical trial was carried out in Hamadan city's comprehensive health centers, involving 64 pregnant teenagers. The block randomization method was employed to divide the participants into two groups. The data collection instruments were a demographic characteristics questionnaire, a breastfeeding self-efficacy questionnaire, and the Bristol breastfeeding checklist. Three individual counseling sessions during pregnancy were conducted based on the "RSB" program. The ANCOVA was used for comparing groups. The statistical analyst was blinded to the group assignment. RESULTS The study included 64 participants with a mean age of 16.97(1.30) years, data from 60 participants were analyzed. The demographic and clinical characteristics of the two groups were relatively similar (P > 0.05). Following the intervention, self-efficacy and breastfeeding performance scores were measured and adjusted for confounding factors. The mean scores for self-efficacy were 116.03(20.64) and 100.02(20.64) (P < 0.005), with effect size 0.77 [MD = 16.01 (95% CI: 5.34,26.67)], and the mean scores for breastfeeding performance were 6.30(2.07) and 4.12(2.07) (P < 0.002), with effect size 1.05 [MD = 2.18 (95% CI: 1.11,3.24)] in the intervention and control groups, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The Ready Set Baby education program's breastfeeding counseling for primiparous adolescent pregnant women significantly boosted their self-efficacy and performance in breastfeeding. Given the crucial role of breastfeeding in ensuring the well-being of both mother and child, further research is imperative to identify suitable and impactful interventions that can encourage breastfeeding practices among adolescents. TRIAL REGISTRATION The trial protocol of this study has been registered in Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials at 08/09/2021. The registration reference is IRCT20200530047596N3.

Abstract
Background The exclusive breastfeeding rate in Malaysia is still not satisfactory. Previous studies have shown that breastfeeding self-efficacy is one of the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding, and it can be improved using social cognitive theory. WhatsApp, which is widely used among Malaysians, could be leveraged as a platform to deliver health education interventions. Objective This study aimed to develop, implement, and evaluate the effect of using a face-to-face and WhatsApp-based health education intervention based on social cognitive theory, namely the Self-Efficacy in Breastfeeding (SeBF) module, on mothers' self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitudes in a district in Selangor state. Methods This study was a 2-arm, parallel, single-blind, cluster randomized controlled field trial with an intervention and a control group involving primigravida or multigravida mothers who reside in a district in Selangor state and did not exclusively breastfeed during their previous pregnancy. All 12 maternity and pediatric clinics in this district were randomly divided into 6 intervention and 6 control groups. A total of 172 pregnant mothers were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=86) or the control group (n=86). The control group received usual routine care. The primary outcome was breastfeeding self-efficacy, while secondary outcomes were knowledge and attitude toward breastfeeding. Each subject was assessed at 4 time points: at baseline, immediately after the intervention, 4 weeks post partum, and 8 weeks post partum. Generalized mixed model analysis was applied to measure the effect of health education on breastfeeding self-efficacy, knowledge, and attitude after the intervention. Results The response rate was 81% (139/172), with the dropout rate being 7% (6/86) in the intervention group and 31% (27/86) in the control group. In the intent-to-treat analysis, the intervention group showed a significant increase in the mean total breastfeeding self-efficacy score 8 weeks after delivery compared with the control group (F21,601=111.73, P<.001). In addition, the mean total score for breastfeeding knowledge increased significantly in the intervention group after the intervention compared to the control group (F21,601=8.33, P<.001). However, no significant difference was found in the mean total score for breastfeeding attitude after the intervention (F21,602=5.50, P=.47). Conclusions Face-to-face and WhatsApp-based participation in the SeBF program, designed on the basis of social cognitive theory, contributed to improved self-efficacy and knowledge about breastfeeding. Further studies need to be conducted with a longer duration (until 6 months post partum) to evaluate its effectiveness in increasing exclusive breastfeeding. Furthermore, new strategies in health education need to be developed to improve breastfeeding attitudes. Abstract
Background Self-efficacy is an important psychological and motivational factor in breastfeeding, and it is a valuable framework that predicts breastfeeding outcomes and demonstrates maternal confidence in breastfeeding. The meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of educational interventions on improving breastfeeding self-efficacy (BSE). Methods The English and Persian databases including Medline, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, Sid, IRANDOC, and Marg-Iran were systematically searched for studies published from January 2005 to December 2020. The quality of studies was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool and the heterogeneity by I 2 statistic. The extracted data were analyzed using RevMan 5 statistical software and presented using random effects standardized mean difference (SMD). The funnel plot was used for evaluating publication bias. Results Results from 40 RCTs showed that educational intervention had a positive effect on the BSE compared with the usual/standard care (pooled SMD = 1.20; 95% CI = 0.75-1.64, p value <0.001). The subgroup analysis indicated that the educational intervention was based on theory, group class format, direct method education, during the first week of postpartum, doing during pregnancy, on primiparous women, and health center setting, and the Asian region has a more effect on BSE than the others. Conclusion Breastfeeding education is considered an influential factor in the improvement of BSE. It is recommended that breastfeeding education should be continued for several weeks after childbirth for gaining its benefit. The Asian region has a more effect on BSE than the others. Therefore, it is important to add the values in content of education in each country.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study aimed to determine the effect of breastfeeding support through social media on women's breastfeeding self-efficacy. METHODS A randomised controlled trial was conducted in the maternity unit of Aksaray University Education and Research Hospital, Turkey. Education and counselling on breastfeeding were given via WhatsApp to women in the intervention group. Women in the control group received routine breastfeeding teaching before discharge from hospital. The Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (BSES-SF) was administered to both groups immediately after birth and at 3 and 6 months postpartum. The study was completed by 31 women in the intervention group and 37 women in the control group. RESULTS At 3 and 6 months there was a statistically significant difference in BSES-SF mean scores between the intervention and control groups (p < 0.05). BSES-SF scores in the intervention group were higher at 3 and 6 months compared with baseline, while BSES-SF scores in the control group were lower at 6 months compared with baseline. CONCLUSION Women's breastfeeding self-efficacy was improved through a social media-based teaching and counselling intervention. Health care professionals should make use of social media tools to improve women's breastfeeding self-efficacy and encourage continuity of breastfeeding.

Abstract
Brief motivational intervention (bMI) is a therapeutic approach that encourages self-efficacy and may have a positive effect on breastfeeding self-efficacy (BSE). The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of a bMI in increasing BSE in women who started breastfeeding in the immediate postpartum period and to explore the roles of general self-efficacy and other baseline variables in this relationship. A randomized, parallel-group clinical trial was carried out. A bMI was compared with an educational session on breastfeeding. Changes in BSE and its dimensions and the interaction and mediation/moderation of general self-efficacy and other variables were analyzed. BSE increased in the bMI group from a mean baseline score of 59.14 (±9.35) to 64.62 (±7.91) at 1st month (p < 0.001). An interaction was found in that only women with higher education had an improvement in BSE during the follow-up period that was attributable to the bMI (mean difference between the bMI and the attention control group: 18.25 (95% confidence interval: 5.86-30.19; p = 0.006). This interaction was not found for the changes produced in the intrapersonal thoughts dimension of BSE, whose scores were higher in the bMI group at 3 and 6 months. General self-efficacy exerted a moderating effect on the association of bMI with BSE change. The effect of bMI was no longer significant when the general self-efficacy score was above 84. Thus, bMI is effective in increasing BSE. This effectiveness was limited by the mother's educational level and moderated by baseline general self-efficacy.

Abstract
Introducción. En Colombia, pese a la implementación de iniciativas como la consejería en lactancia materna (CLM), las tasas de lactancia materna exclusiva (LME) son bajas.
Objetivo. Comprender la experiencia de un grupo de madres lactantes respecto a la consejería en lactancia materna exclusiva (CLME) recibida en Instituciones Amigas de la Mujer y la Infancia (IAMI) en Bogotá D.C., Colombia.
Materiales y métodos. Investigación cualitativa con enfoque fenomenológico. Se aplicaron entrevistas a profundidad a 19 madres lactantes que recibieron CLME en 3 IAMI entre agosto de 2016 y enero de 2017. Las unidades de significado (US) se identificaron mediante un análisis comprensivo realizado en el programa N-Vivo versión 10 y basado en la lectura de las transcripciones textuales de las entrevistas y la identificación de estructuras esenciales en los relatos relacionadas con la experiencia que tuvieron durante la CLME en tres momentos (gestación, parto/posparto inmediato y puerperio).
Resultados. La edad promedio fue de 23 años. Solo el 37% lactó exclusivamente hasta los 4 meses. Se identificaron 9 US. Durante la gestación y el posparto inmediato las madres recibieron indicaciones sobre como lactar, pero no recibieron CLME por parte del personal de salud. En el puerperio, la familia y la red de apoyo de las madres les brindaron ayuda y acompañamiento respecto a la lactancia materna.
Conclusión. Es posible que en el país no se estén cumpliendo las disposiciones legales sobre la CLM e iniciativas como las IAMI, ya que se evidencian dificultades para su correcta realización, por lo que es necesario plantear y desarrollar estrategias efectivas para la formación de consejeros en lactancia materna entre el personal de salud.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE to construct conceptual and operational definitions of Nursing Outcomes "Breastfeeding establishment: infant (1000)" and "Breastfeeding establishment: maternal (1001)". METHOD integrative literature review in the following databases: PUBMED (United States National Library of Medicine); LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature); CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature); SciVerse SCOPUS; Web of Science; BDENF (Brazilian Nursing Database) and EMBASE (Excerpta Medica Database). The gray literature was explored to elucidate topics not covered by the articles. Of 3242 articles, 96 were selected to be read in full, and 43 were used for constructing the definitions. Five theses, three dissertations, three books and two manuals were selected. RESULTS all the results were reviewed. The definitions facilitated the improvement of the content proposed by the Nursing Outcomes Classification, favoring its application in clinical practice and supporting the development of research and teaching. CONCLUSION it was proposed to change the definition of the two outcomes, as well as to change the title of one of them to "Breastfeeding establishment: newborn & infant" (1000), modifying seven of its indicators and excluding one. For the outcome related to the mother, it was proposed to modify two indicators and exclude one.
