Abstract
Objective Finding natural, handy and efficient nutritional solutions to prevent and mitigate negative effects caused by environmental heat stress and to be applied to large-scale laying hen industry. Research design A 3-weeks trial was conducted on 128 laying hens TETRA-SL LL (50 weeks of age) housed in 8 cages/group, 4 laying hens/cage, 32 laying hens/group, under heat stress conditions (34±1°C). The basal diet on corn and soybean meal was formulated to be isocaloric and isonitrogenic. Compared to Control group diet (C), experimental groups E1 included 1% zinc-enriched yeast; E2 included 2% parsley and E3 included 1% zinc-enriched yeast combined with 2% parsley to minimize the heat stress effects. Methods The parsley and the zinc-enriched yeast were analysed for their chemical composition, total polyphenols, antioxidant capacity, minerals, vitamin E and incorporated into the ration structure. Production parameters, egg quality, biochemical and haematological profiles of blood samples were analysed during the trial. Results A statistically significant (p < 0.05) average egg weight was noticed on E2 and E3 compared to Control group, and also during the 1st week compared to the 2nd and the 3rd experimental weeks. Average daily feed intake values were highly significant (p < 0.001) on E3 group compared to C, E1, E2, and on the 2nd week compared to the 3rd experimental week (p < 0.021). Feed conversion rate was highly significant (p < 0.001) during the 2nd and the 3rd experimental weeks compared to the 1st week. The average daily egg production was highly significant (p < 0.001) within 1st week compared to the 2nd and 3rd weeks. A highly significant (p < 0.001) yolk coloration was noticed on E2 and E3 groups. The malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration decreased significantly (p < 0.05) to all experimental groups compared to Control group during the 14th and 28th days of storage. Conclusion These findings suggest that the two ingredients minimized the heat stress effects on production performance parameters with a demonstrated antioxidant capacity role by delaying the lipid peroxidation during different storage time periods.

Abstract
Coriandrum sativum (Linn.) and Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) are the common herbs used for culinary purposes in daily life. The chlorophyll pigment in plants is being identified with various medicinal values, whereas iron is an essential micronutrient for the proper metabolism of the human body. The current research has been aimed at predicting the role of C. sativum and P. crispum in enhancing iron absorption via an in vitro approach. C. sativum and P. crispum have been analyzed for their capability of being a source of chlorophyll and iron concentration. The extracts prepared from solvents like carbinol, petroleum ether, and water were subjected to the identification of phytoconstituents through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis, and the identified compounds were subjected to in silico studies against the iron-binding receptor, transferrin, to depict the binding affinity of the identified compounds. The carbinol extract was then put through in vitro analytical studies in Caco2 cell lines with a concentration of 500 µg/ml. Current research has shown that the leaves of C. sativum and P. crispum are an excellent source of chlorophyll and iron and has also suggested that these herbs efficiently enhance the absorption of iron in human intestinal cells.

Bioactive compounds of parsley (Petroselinum crispum), chives (Allium schoenoprasum L) and their mixture (Brazilian cheiro-verde) as promising antioxidant and anti-cholesterol oxidation agents in a food system. Abstract
This study determined the bioactive composition and antioxidant potential of parsley, chives and their mixture (Brazilian cheiro-verde). Additionally, the effect of these herbs against cholesterol oxidation in grilled sardines (Sardinella brasiliensis) was also investigated. Ultra-high Performance Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Ionization-Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-MS) analyses revealed the presence of phenolic acids (caffeic, chlorogenic, and ferulic acids) and flavonoids (apigenin, kaempferol, catechin) in the herbs. Higher levels of phenolics (2.10 ± 0.02 mg GAE/g) and carotenoids (205.95 ± 0.17 µg/g) were determined in parsley extracts. Moreover, parsley also presented higher antioxidant capacity by DPPH (59.21 ± 0.07 %) and ORAC (109.94 ± 18.7 µM TE/g) than the other herbs. In vivo analyses demonstrated that the herbs' extracts decreased the damage on Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells exposed to H2O2, except the chives extract at 10 μg/mL. Higher levels of cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) were determined after grilling. The total COPs increased from 61.8 ± 0.7 (raw fish) to 139.7 ± 10.1 µg/g (control). However, the addition of herbs effectively reduced cholesterol oxides formation, this effect was more pronounced in fish containing 4% parsley and 4% cheiro-verde. Promising results were found for cheiro-verde; however, it did not present synergic antioxidant effects.

Comparison of Phenolic Contents and Scavenging Activities of Miang Extracts Derived from Filamentous and Non-Filamentous Fungi-Based Fermentation Processes. Abstract
The study investigated the impact of the fermentation process on the phenolic contents and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in extracts of Miang, an ethnic fermented tea product of northern Thailand. The acetone (80%) extraction of Miang samples fermented by a non-filamentous fungi-based process (NFP) and filamentous fungi-based process (FFP) had elevated levels of total polyphenols, total tannins, and condensed tannins compared to young and mature tea leaves. The antioxidant studies also showed better the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values for fermented leaves in both 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging activity assays as well as improved ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) compared to young and mature tea leaves. Extracts of NFP and FFP samples at concentrations of 50 and 100 ppm showed better protective effects against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in HT-29 colorectal cells without exerting cytotoxicity. Additionally, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced production of nitric oxide (a proinflammatory mediator as well as a reactive nitrogen species) was also inhibited by these fermented Miang extracts with an IC50 values of 17.15 μg/mL (NFP), 20.17 μg/mL (FFP), 33.96 μg/mL (young tea leaves), and 31.33 μg/mL (mature tea leaves). Therefore, both NFP-Miang and FFP-Miang showed the potential to be targeted as natural bioactive functional ingredients with preventive properties against free radical and inflammatory-mediated diseases.

Abstract
Parsley (Petroselinum crispum L.) has been used as food, spices and in folkloric medicine. Several scientific researches have been focalized on anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, antioxidant and other pharmacological activities of parsley. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the phytochemical composition, antioxidant and anticancer activity of P. crispum L aqueous and methanol extracts against Human glioblastoma cells U87MG. Adhesion assay was realized on different protein matrices (fibrinogen, fibronectin and poly-L-lysine) and the anti-proliferative effect was performed. Compared to aqueous extract, the methanol extract presented an important level of phenol contents. Five phenolic compounds were found using HPLC-DAD with quinic acid as the most abounded followed by gallic acid, acacetin, protocatechuic acid and Cirsilineol with 120753.07 ± 27450; 190 ± 25; 53.83 ± 10; 13.7 ± 2.5 and 2 ± 0.3 µg/mL respectively.The DPPH, ABTS+, OH radical, Iron (II) chelation and FRAP assays exhibited that methanol extract show a modulate antioxidant activity. The methanol extract shows the highest ability to inhibit cell adhesion to different protein matrices. In addition, it was found as a potential anti-proliferative. These results suggest for the first time that P. crispum methanol extract presents anti-adhesion and anti-proliferative proprieties.

Abstract
Phenolics are the main bioactive components in tea and greatly contribute to human health. Three phenolic-enriched extracts, the ethyl acetate fraction (TEF), n-butanol fraction (TBF), and water fraction (TWF), were obtained from Tieguanyin oolong tea, which is considered a typical type of semi-fermented tea. The chemicals in the extracts and their antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity against 4T1 breast cancer cells were investigated in the present work. TEF was found to have the highest contents of phenolics, flavonoids, procyanidins, sugars, and catechin monomers. Meanwhile, TEF exhibited the strongest antioxidant capacity, which may be due to its abundant bioactive compounds, as validated by Pearson correlation and hierarchical clustering analysis. Furthermore, TEF showed greater inhibition of the growth of 4T1 murine breast cancer cells than TBF and TWF. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Fermentation during the processing of oolong tea causes many alterations in polyphenols, leading to different bioactivities. In the present work, three phenolic-enriched extracts, the ethyl acetate fraction (TEF), n-butanol fraction (TBF), and water fraction (TWF), were obtained from Tieguanyin oolong tea. Further tests showed that TEF and TBF from Tieguanyin oolong tea possessed remarkable antioxidant activity and inhibitory potential inhibition of the growth of 4T1 murine breast cancer cells in vitro due to their main bioactive compounds, including phenolics and flavonoids. Thus, the phenolic-enriched extracts from Tieguanyin tea are expected to have a potential application in the food and pharmaceutical industries after further study.

Abstract
Phenolics, as the main bioactive compounds in tea, have been suggested to have potential in the prevention of various human diseases. However, little is known about phenolics and their bioactivity in Zhangping Narcissue tea cake which is considered the most special kind of oolong tea. To unveil its bioactivity, three phenolic-enriched extracts were obtained from Zhangping Narcissue tea cake using ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water. Their main chemical compositions and in vitro bioactivity were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS). The ethyl acetate fraction (ZEF) consisted of higher content of phenolics, flavonoids, procyanidins, and catechin monomers (including epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epicatechin gallate (ECG), and gallocatechin gallate (GCG)) than n-butanol fraction (ZBF) and water fraction (ZWF). ZEF exhibited the strongest antioxidant capacity in vitro due to its abundant bioactive compounds. This was validated by Pearson correlation and hierarchical clustering analyses. ZEF also showed a remarkable inhibition on the growth, migration, and invasion of 4T1 murine breast cancer cells.

Abstract
The green fabrication of nanoparticles (NPs) by using plants as reducing and capping agents involves energy efficient, less toxic, safer and simpler pathways. These pathways have been related to the rational use of numerous substances in fabrication of NPs and synthetic strategies, which have been mainly discussed in this article. The subject matter of this review is to discuss how a chemist can follow the green chemistry principles in terms of selection of substances and protocols used for NPs fabrication. Furthermore, it describes how a researcher can modify the physical properties of NPs by varying the reaction conditions. In short, this review article provides a scheme for the synthesis of NPs from selection of suitable plant to characterization of formed NPs by employing green chemistry.

Abstract
Kidney stones are one of the oldest known and common diseases in the urinary tract system. Various human studies have suggested that diets with a higher intake of vegetables and fruits play a role in the prevention of kidney stones. In this review, we have provided an overview of these dietary plants, their main chemical constituents, and their possible mechanisms of action. Camellia sinensis (green tea), Rubus idaeus (raspberry), Rubia cordifolia (common madder), Petroselinum crispum (parsley), Punica granatum (pomegranate), Pistacia lentiscus (mastic), Solanum xanthocarpum (yellow-fruit nightshade), Urtica dioica (stinging nettle), Dolichos biflorus (horse gram), Ammi visnaga (khella), Nigella sativa (black-cumin), Hibiscus sabdariffa (roselle), and Origanum vulgare (oregano) have received considerable interest based on scientific evidence. Beside these dietary plants, phytochemicals—such as catechin, epicatechin, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, diosmin, rutin, quercetin, hyperoside, and curcumin—as antioxidant dietary phyto-phenols were found to be effective for the prevention of urolithiasis (the process of stone formation in the urinary tract). The main underlying mechanisms of these dietary plants and their isolated phytonutrients in the management of urolithiasis include diuretic, antispasmodic, and antioxidant activity, as well as an inhibitory effect on crystallization, nucleation, and aggregation of crystals. The results as presented in this review demonstrate the promising role of dietary plants and phytophenols in the prevention and management of kidney stones. Further investigations are required to confirm the safety and efficacy of these compounds.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one form of diabetes. It causes obstetrical complications and affects between 5-18% of all pregnancies and leads to congenital malformations and long-term postnatal disorders. Supportive therapy in treatment of diabetes during pregnancy takes place by anti-diabetic plants such as parsley. The current study has been undertaken to investigate the possible anti-diabetic and antioxidant role of aqueous parsley extract on streptozotocin (STZ) induced gestational diabetes mellitus in rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty pregnant albino rats were categorized after mating into five groups: group C (control group), group D1 (pregnant rats injected with interperitoneally single dose of STZ (40 mg kg-1 b.wt.) in the 1st day of gestation, group D1+P: Pregnant rats were treated with parsley extract (1 m/150 g b.wt.) from the 1st to the 19th day of gestation post injection with STZ (40 mg kg-1 b.wt.), group D7: Pregnant rats were injected with STZ (40 mg kg-1 b.wt.) on day 7of gestation, group D7+P: Pregnant rats were treated with parsley extract (1 m/150 g b.wt.) from the 7th to the 19th day of gestation post injection with STZ (40 mg kg-1 b.wt.). The pregnant rats were dissected on the 19th day of pregnancy and the uterine horns were removed freshly and then photographed. Abnormalities or any morphological changes were recorded, weight of fetuses and placenta and placental index were determined. Blood samples were collected to estimate the glucose and biochemical parameters of the main kidney functions. Also, kidney samples of fetuses were taken for the histopathological study. RESULTS Fetuses of the diabetic mothers showed some developmental changes such as very thin skin, very thin muscle layer under the skin, absence of eyelid and ear pinna, exencephaly and kyphosis. On the other hand, fetuses of the diabetic mothers which were treated with parsley leaves extract showed somewhat normal morphological development. According to the biochemical histopathological observations, the parsley leaf extract succeeded to minimize the drastic changes, which were observed in the diabetic rats and their fetuses. CONCLUSION Administration of the parsley leaf extract has the ability to minimize the damage of hyperglycemia.
