Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) for osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This cross-sectional study included 229 postmenopausal patients with T2DM (mean age 64.53 ± 7.4 years). Collect anthropometric data. Bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine and femoral necks was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Calculate WWI and Osteoporosis Self-Assessment Tool for Asians (OSTA). Use SPSS 25.0 to analyze data employing binary logistic regression and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. WWI in osteoporosis group was significantly higher than that in non-osteoporosis group (11.54 ± 0.82 vs. 11.07 ± 0.73, P = 0.000), while the OSTA was significantly lower in osteoporosis group compared to non-osteoporosis group (- 1.40 (- 2.8, 0.40) vs. 0.10 (- 1.45,1.80), P = 0.000). Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk of osteoporosis in WWI ≥ 11.55 group was 3.158 times higher than that in WWI < 11.55 group (95% CI 1.714-5.820, P = 0.000). The risk in OSTA ≤ - 1 group was 3.935 times higher than that in OSTA > - 1 group (95% CI 2.168-7.141, P = 0.000). The area under the ROC curve for OSTA and WWI in predicting the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients with T2DM aged over 70 was 0.761 and 0.808, respectively, with sensitivities of 0.429 and 0.714. In postmenopausal patients with T2DM, WWI is closely associated with osteoporosis and negatively correlates with BMD. Among postmenopausal T2DM patients aged over 70, WWI may be superior to OSTA in predicting osteoporosis.

Abstract
Through analyzing the data of the NHANES 2007-2020 cycle, this study concluded that high-intensity exercise 1-2 sessions a week can help maintain bone mass, and there is no significant difference from regular exercise more than 3 times a week. PURPOSE This study aims to explore the relationship between the various physical activity(PA) patterns and the risk of low bone mineral density(BMD) in Americans of working age. METHOD A total of 6482 participants aged 20-60 were selected from the National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES) conducted from 2007 to 2020. The PA data of the participants were obtained through individual interviews, and the participants were divided into four groups (inactive, insufficiently active, less frequent but sufficiently active(1-2 sessions a week and PA ≥ 150 min), and regularly active). Weighted logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between PA patterns and the risk of low BMD. Subgroup analyses were applied to display the correlation between PA patterns and low BMD in different subgroups. RESULT After adjusting for confounding factors, the multiple logistic regression model showed that compared with inactive individuals, sufficiently active and regularly active individuals had a 35% (OR, 0.65; 95% CI, 0.46-0.92) and 24% (OR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.62-0.93) lower risk of low BMD, respectively. Compared with regularly active adults, inactive adults had a 32% (OR, 1.32; 95% CI, 1.07-1.62) increased risk of low BMD, while sufficiently active individuals (OR, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.59-1.23) showed no significant difference compared with regularly active adults. CONCLUSION Compared with inactive adults, less frequent but sufficiently active adults have a lower risk of low BMD and showed benefits similar to those in regularly active groups. The sufficiently active pattern may become a new trend in modern working-age adults' PA patterns.

Abstract
The research examined the association between weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and bone mineral density (BMD) in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, considering the impact of obesity on bone health. The association between WWI and BMD was examined utilizing weighted linear regression and smoothed curve fitting with data from NHANES 2005-2010, 2013-2014, and 2017-2018. Subgroup analysis verified the stability of the results. The study included a cohort of 983 rheumatoid arthritis patients. A significant negative correlation was found between WWI and BMD at the total femur, femoral neck, and lumbar spine (β = -0.03, 95% CI (-0.04, -0.02), p < 0.001; β = -0.02, 95% CI (-0.04, -0.01), p = 0.001; β = -0.04, 95% CI (-0.06, -0.02), p < 0.001). This negative association was not significantly influenced by factors like age, gender, race, education, PIR, diabetes, hypertension, sleep disorders, alcohol consumption, or smoking status (p > 0.05 for interaction). The findings indicate a negative correlation between WWI and BMD in the rheumatoid arthritis population. Key Points •A negative correlation was found between WWI and BMD at the total femur, femoral neck, and lumbar spine in the rheumatoid arthritis population.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to investigate the relationship between the lipid accumulation product (LAP) index and total femur bone mineral density (BMD), while also examining the mediating role of the poverty-income ratio (PIR). Methods Using the most recent data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning 2009 to 2020, multivariate logistic regression models were employed in this study to investigate the relationship between the LAP index and total femur BMD. Saturation effects and potential non-linear associations were examined using a smooth curve-fitting approach to determine saturation levels. Interaction tests and subgroup analyses were also performed. Additionally, a mediation analysis was conducted to explore the mediating role of PIR. Results Three thousand two hundred and twenty three participants aged 20 years or older were recruited for this study. Multivariate regression analysis demonstrated a greater total femur BMD in individuals with a high LAP index. Additionally, analysis of the saturation effect and smooth curve fitting identified a clear saturation effect between the LAP index and total femur BMD. A saturation value of 16.05 was determined when investigating the relationship between the LAP index and total femur BMD. Subgroup analysis revealed no significant interaction effects after adjusting for covariates. Moreover, mediation analysis indicated that the LAP index had a substantial direct effect on total femur BMD (p < 0.0001), with PIR partially mediating this relationship (1.115%, p = 0.0280). Conclusion The results of this investigation demonstrated a saturation effect between the LAP index and total femur BMD, which may have been mediated by PIR.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The relationship between obesity and type 2 diabetes with bone health has always been a topic of debate. The weight-adjusted waist index has become a commonly used indicator for assessing central obesity, fat, and muscle mass. However, currently there is no research reporting the association between weight-adjusted waist index and risk of osteoporosis in populations of type 2 diabetes. Therefore, this study aims to provide new information on the association between weight-adjusted waist index and risk of osteoporosis in type 2 diabetes. METHODS This cross-sectional study involved 963 patients with type 2 diabetes who were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology of Cangzhou Central Hospital. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to assess the association between weight-adjusted waist index and osteoporosis. The potential nonlinear association was evaluated. The effects of interaction between subgroups were assessed using the likelihood ratio test. RESULTS Weight-adjusted waist index was positively associated with the risk of osteoporosis, regardless of traditional confounding factors. For each 1 unit increased in weight-adjusted waist index, the risk of osteoporosis increased by 67%. Furthermore, there was a nonlinear relationship between weight-adjusted waist index and osteoporosis. The subgroup analysis did not reveal any significant interactions. CONCLUSIONS Our study indicated a positive association between weight-adjusted waist index and the risk of osteoporosis in adult Chinese type 2 diabetes patients, and this relationship was nonlinear.

Abstract
A knowledge gap exists in associating later life's osteoporotic fracture and middle adulthood's BMI trajectories. We observed an association showing those transitioning from overweight to normal weight face a higher fracture risk in late adulthood, emphasizing the potential benefits of maintaining a stable BMI to reduce late-life fractures. PURPOSE Numerous studies on the relationship between obesity and fractures have relied on body mass index (BMI) at a single time point, yielding inconclusive results. This study investigated the association of BMI trajectories over middle adulthood with fracture risk in late adulthood. METHODS This prospective cohort study analyzed 1772 qualified participants from the Framingham Original Cohort Study, with 292 (16.5%) incident fractures during an average of 17.1-year follow-up. We constructed BMI trajectories of age 35-64 years based on latent class mixed modeling and explored their association with the risk of fracture after 65 years using the Cox regression. RESULTS The result showed that compared to the BMI trajectory Group 4 (normal to slightly overweight; see "Methods" for detailed description), Group 1 (overweight declined to normal weight) had a higher all-fracture risk after age 65 (hazard ratio [HR], 2.22, 95% CI, 1.13-4.39). The secondary analysis focusing on lower extremity fractures (pelvis, hip, leg, and foot) showed a similar association pattern. CONCLUSIONS This study suggested that people whose BMI slightly increased from normal weight to low-level overweight during 30 years of middle adulthood confer a significantly lower risk of fracture in later life than those whose BMI declined from overweight to normal weight. This result implies the potentially beneficial effects of avoiding weight loss to normal weight during middle adulthood for overweight persons, with reduced fracture risk in late life.

Abstract
Introduction According to reports, obesity has a significant impact on bone health. And the weight-adjusted-waist index (WWI), superior to BMI and waist circumference (WC), is a new obesity indicator arising in recent years. This research investigated the relationship between WWI and total bone mineral density (BMD) for adults aged 20 to 59. Methods Using data from the 2011-2018 NHANES, we looked into the independent link between WWI and total BMD as well as its nonlinearity using weighted multiple linear regression and smooth curve fitting. Two-stage linear regression models were employed to calculate the threshold effects. There were additional subgroup analyses and testing for interactions. Results Multiple linear regression studies on a total of 10,372 individuals showed a significant inverse link between WWI and total BMD in adults between 20 and 59 [β = -0.04, 95% CI: (-0.04, -0.03), P<0.0001]. And smoking, race, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) had no significant effect on this negative connection (P for interaction >0.05). In addition, we found a nonlinear relationship between WWI and total BMD in diabetic and CKD patients, for which the saturation point was 11.38 cm/√kg in the CKD patient group and 10.29 cm/√kg in the diabetic patient group. Conclusion Our analysis demonstrated a significant inverse association between WWI and total BMD in adults aged 20-59.
