Abstract
BACKGROUND Pulmonary nodules in patients with soft tissue sarcomas are likely pulmonary metastases, whereas synchronous primary pulmonary sarcomas are rare. Without surgery, determining whether a solitary pulmonary nodule is a primary or metastatic nodule is difficult. Herein, we report a rare case of a primary pulmonary sarcoma that presented synchronously with a primary dedifferentiated liposarcoma. CASE PRESENTATION A 77-year-old man presented to another hospital with left inguinal swelling and a suspected recurrent inguinal hernia. Computed tomography revealed a left inguinal mass and pure-solid nodule in the left lung and the patient was referred to our hospital for detailed examination and treatment. The inguinal mass was pathologically diagnosed as a dedifferentiated liposarcoma using needle biopsy, whereas bronchoscopic biopsy revealed histological findings suggestive of a sarcoma; however, the primary site could not be determined. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography revealed no high-accumulation lesions except for the two sarcomas. We decided to perform surgery on both sarcomas for diagnostic and curative purposes. The surgical specimens showed that the two sarcomas were different. Based on the immunohistochemical staining findings of MDM2, a left inguinal dedifferentiated liposarcoma and primary pulmonary unclassified sarcoma were diagnosed. The patient displayed no evidence of recurrence 1 year after surgery. CONCLUSIONS We encountered a rare case of synchronous multiple primary sarcomas, one presenting in the lung and the other in the soft tissue. Surgery was required to achieve a definitive diagnosis for the patient, who achieved disease-free survival at 1 year. This case suggests that proactive resection of pulmonary nodules in patients with soft tissue sarcomas may be feasible as a diagnostic treatment if complete resection is achieved.

Abstract
Primary pulmonary sarcoma (PPS) is a rare and poor prognostic malignancy that results from current clinical studies are lacking. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic factors of PPS and to construct a predictive nomogram that predict the overall survival (OS) rate. We extracted data on patients diagnosed with PPS from 2010 to 2019 in the SEER database. A total of 169 patients were included after screening by inclusion and exclusion criteria. Univariate and multivariate COX regression analyses showed that age, pathological grade, liver metastasis, surgical intervention, and chemotherapy influenced the prognosis. We constructed the prediction model nomogram based on these factors. Moreover, the results of the internal and external ROC curves, calibration curves, and DCA plots confirmed that the model has good discrimination, accuracy, and clinical practice efficacy. The present study is the first population-based study to explore the factors affecting the prognosis of PPS. We established a novel prognostic nomogram to predict the OS rate, which can help to make proper clinical decisions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sarcomas are documented in population-based and in clinic-associated databases. This study evaluated the status quo regarding the potential and obstacles of cancer registry-based research on sarcomas exemplified by Germany in comparison to similar databases in the US and Europe. Completeness and quality of data are discussed based on statistical analyses of a pooled data set established for the German Cancer Congress 2020. METHODS We analyzed data derived from 16 German institutions (federal state cancer registries and some facility-based registries). Malignant sarcomas in adults diagnosed between 2000 and 2018 with information on histology were grouped according to the WHO classification of soft tissue and bone tumors. Descriptive analyses of the study population regarding the distribution of age, sex, histology, localization of primary tumors, and metastases were performed. Survival for the ten most frequent histological groups and UICC stages was evaluated according to Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression. Time interval between surgery and subsequent radiation was calculated. RESULTS The initial data set contained 35,091 sarcomas. After several steps of data cleaning, 28,311 patients with known sex and unambiguous assignment to a histological subgroup remained (13,682 women and 14,629 men). Between 40 and 54 years, women were more likely to develop sarcomas, whereas in the older age groups more men were affected. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, fibroblastic, and myofibroblastic tumors, smooth muscle tumors (mostly non-uterine leiomyosarcomas), and adipocytic tumors represented 48% of all sarcomas. Preferential sites for fibrosarcomas were the limbs, the trunk, and the head and neck region. The liposarcoma occurred most frequently on the trunk and limbs. Distant primary metastases were mostly located in the lung (43%), followed by the liver (14%), and bones (13%). Vascular and smooth muscle tumors showed the worst survival prognosis (5-year survival: approx. 15%, median survival approx. 8-16 months), whereas in low stages, the probability of survival of many sarcoma patients was beyond 5 years. Adjuvant radiotherapy was applied within 90 days in 71% of patients (n = 2,534). CONCLUSION Our results correspond to the data from the literature. However, a lack of data quality and completeness hampers further meaningful analyses, especially nonspecific or missing information about morphology and stage. Compared to some other countries, a comprehensive database is presently missing in Germany. However, currently, there are important efforts and legislative initiatives to create a comprehensive database on a national level within the near future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) represent the fastest-growing group in the United States. While described in aggregate, great variations exist within the community. We aimed to determine whether there were differences in stage at presentation and treatment status among AANHPI women with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS Between 2004 and 2016, we identified 522 361 female patients with newly diagnosed NSCLC from the National Cancer Database. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to define adjusted odds ratios (aORs) of presenting with stage IV disease and not receiving treatment. RESULTS AANHPI women were more likely to present with stage IV disease compared to White (54.32% vs. 40.28%, p < 0.001). Aside from Hawaiian, Pakistani, and Hmong women, all other ethnic groups had greater odds of presenting with stage IV disease than White women. AANHPI women <65 years were more likely to present with stage IV disease (p = 0.030). Only Vietnamese women showed a significant difference (aOR = 1.30 [1.06-1.58], p = 0.010) for likelihood of receiving treatment compared to White. CONCLUSIONS Differences in stage at presentation and treatment status in women with NSCLC were observed among AANHPI ethnic groups when populations were disaggregated.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on overall survival (OS) for pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cohorts and to identify its potential risk factors. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed by querying the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database for patients diagnosed as having PSC (n=460) and NSCLC (n=140,467) from 2004 to 2015. The demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment modes, and survival were included in the scope of statistical analysis. Confounding factors were controlled by propensity score matching (PSM) analysis. Kaplan–Meier survival curves were performed to compare the effects of adjuvant chemotherapy on OS of the patients in the two cohorts (PSC vs. NSCLC). A multivariable Cox regression model was constructed, and Kaplan–Meier analysis on each variate was applied to predict risk factors associated with OS. Results When adjuvant chemotherapy approach was applied in the treatment of patients with PSC or adjusted NSCLC, respectively, an improved OS could be observed in the NSCLC cohort (p=0.017). For the entire PSC cohort, 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS were 25.43%, 13.04%, and 6.96%, respectively, compared with 41.96%, 17.39%, and 10.00%, respectively, for the new adjusted NSCLC cohort after PSM, which were statistically significant difference (p<0.001). Multivariable Cox regression analysis was performed on OS covering prognostic factors such as primary site (p=0.036), first malignant indicator (p<0.001), age at diagnosis (p<0.001), marital status at diagnosis (p=0.039), and high school education (p=0.045). Additionally, patients with the following parameters had the worse impact on OS: a poorly differentiated pathology (Grade III/IV, p=0.023), older age (p<0.001), liver or lung metastasis (p=0.004, p=0.029), and the number of lymph nodes removed <4 (p<0.001). Conclusions Adjuvant chemotherapy did not play a decisive role in improving the OS of PSC, while it was associated with improved OS of NSCLC.
