Abstract
BACKGROUND The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV- 2), which is responsible for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), potentially has severe adverse effects, leading to public health crises worldwide. In COVID-19, deficiency of ACE-2 is linked to increased inflammation and cytokine storms via increased angiotensin II levels and decreased ACE-2/Mas receptor axis activity. MiRNAs are small sequences of noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression by binding to the targeted mRNAs. MiR-200 dysfunction has been linked to the development of ARDS following acute lung injury and has been proposed as a key regulator of ACE2 expression. LncRNA growth arrest-specific transcript 5 (GAS5) has been recently studied for its modulatory effect on the miRNA-200/ACE2 axis. OBJECTIVE The current study aims to investigate the role of lncRNA GAS5, miRNA-200, and ACE2 as new COVID-19 diagnostic markers capable of predicting the severity of SARS-CoV-2 complications. METHODS A total of 280 subjects were classified into three groups: COVID-19-negative controls (n = 80), and COVID-19 patients (n=200) who required hospitalization were classified into two groups: group (2) moderate cases (n = 112) and group (3) severe cases (n = 88). RESULTS The results showed that the serum GAS5 expression was significantly down-expressed in COVID-19 patients; as a consequence, the expression of miR-200 was reported to be overexpressed and its targeted ACE2 was down-regulated. The ROC curve was drawn to examine the diagnostic abilities of GAS5, miR-200, and ACE2, yielding high diagnostic accuracy with high sensitivity and specificity. CONCLUSION lncRNA-GAS5, miRNA-200, and ACE2 panels presented great diagnostic potential as they demonstrated the highest diagnostic accuracy for discriminating moderate COVID-19 and severe COVID-19 cases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19) triggers the development of numerous pathologies and infection-linked complications and exacerbates existing pathologies in nearly all body systems. Aside from the primarily targeted respiratory organs, adverse SARS-CoV-2 effects were observed in nervous, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal/metabolic, immune, and other systems in COVID-19 survivors. Long-term effects of this viral infection have been recently observed and represent distressing sequelae recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a distinct clinical entity defined as post-COVID-19 condition. Considering the pandemic is still ongoing, more time is required to confirm post COVID-19 condition diagnosis in the COVID-19 infected cohorts, although many reported post COVID-19 symptoms overlap with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). AIMS OF REVIEW In this study, COVID-19 clinical presentation and associated post-infection sequelae (post-COVID-19 condition) were reviewed and compared with ME/CFS symptomatology. KEY SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS OF REVIEW The onset, progression, and symptom profile of post COVID-19 condition patients have considerable overlap with ME/CFS. Considering the large scope and range of pro-inflammatory effects of this virus, it is reasonable to expect development of post COVID-19 clinical complications in a proportion of the affected population. There are reports of a later debilitating syndrome onset three months post COVID-19 infection (often described as long-COVID-19), marked by the presence of fatigue, headache, cognitive dysfunction, post-exertional malaise, orthostatic intolerance, and dyspnoea. Acute inflammation, oxidative stress, and increased levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), have been reported in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients. Longitudinal monitoring of post COVID-19 patients is warranted to understand the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the pathomechanism of post COVID-19 condition.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). It has become a pandemic since March 11, 2020. It carries a significant burden and hampers gastrointestinal endoscopy practice. Since SARS-CoV-2 receptors are found in the gastrointestinal tract, COVID-19 also manifests as gastrointestinal symptoms. The viable virus is also detected in stool, carrying a high risk of transmission. Therefore, gastrointestinal endoscopy practice needs to be changed to prevent spreading from patients and medical personnel. All patients should be screened for the possibility of infection. Triage is done to determine the urgency of cases. Elective cases are postponed while semi-urgent and urgent cases are treated accordingly. A level 2 personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used for negative/suspected COVID-19 and a level 3 PPE is used for the confirmed case. Endoscopy unit should have negative-pressure room or proper ventilation, separated unit between negative/suspected and confirmed cases, exclusive equipment for COVID-19 case, and proper disinfection of equipment and room. Medical personnel must be screened regularly and positive information regarding gastrointestinal endoscopy practice should be spread to patients.
