Abstract
BACKGROUND Prisoners are often associated with mental health and substance use disorders. Coercive measures are widely used in prison settings. The objective of this study was to compare inmates' perceptions and satisfaction with telepsychiatry versus face-to-face consultation and the effects of telepsychiatry on the use of coercive measures. The sample consisted of 100 male inmates from various backgrounds who had experienced both approaches of services (face to face and telepsychiatry). METHOD The data were obtained through an interview where the individuals completed a Demographic Data Questionnaire, a Participant Satisfaction Questionnaire to assess satisfaction with face-to-face psychiatric services, and a Participant Satisfaction Questionnaire to assess their satisfaction with services offered via telepsychiatry. Additionally, calculations of time spent waiting for a face-to-face psychiatric evaluation and time spent in handcuffs and in confined spaces were made before and after the introduction of telepsychiatry. RESULTS Statistically significant improvements (all p-values < 0.001) were noted in waiting times, support for relapse prevention, follow up, quality of mental health care, quality of care in the management of psychiatric problems and related medication, behavior of psychiatrists, duration of the assessment, sense of comfort, and confidentiality. Telepsychiatry led to the elimination of time spent in handcuffs and in confined spaces (transport vehicles). CONCLUSION According to the results of this study, telepsychiatry is an acceptable method of service delivery in correctional facilities and was associated with a reduction of coercive practices.

Abstract
Importance As video-based care expands in many clinical settings, assessing patient experiences with this care modality will help optimize health care quality, safety, and communication. Objective To develop and assess the psychometric properties of the video visit user experience (VVUE) measure, a patient-reported measure of experiences with video-based technology. Design, Setting, and Participants In this survey study, veterans completed a web-based, mail, or telephone survey about their use of Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) virtual care between September 2021 and January 2022. The survey was completed by patients who reported having a VHA video visit on their own device or a VHA-issued device and linked to VHA utilization data for the 6 months following the survey. Data analysis was performed from March 2022 to February 2023. Main Outcomes and Measures The survey included 19 items about experiences with video visits that were rated using a 4-point Likert-type scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree). First, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine the factor structure and parsimonious set of items, using the McDonald Omega test to assess internal consistency reliability. Then, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test structural validity, and bivariate correlations between VVUE and VHA health care engagement were calculated to test concurrent validity. Finally, predictive validity was assessed using logistic regression to determine whether VVUE was associated with future VHA video visit use. Results Among 1887 respondents included in the analyses, 83.2% (95% CI, 81.5%-84.8%) were male, 41.0% (95% CI, 38.8%-43.1%) were aged 65 years or older, and the majority had multiple chronic medical and mental health conditions. The exploratory factor analysis identified a 10-item single-factor VVUE measure (including questions about satisfaction, user-centeredness, technical quality, usefulness, and appropriateness), explaining 96% of the total variance, with acceptable internal consistency reliability (ω = 0.95). The confirmatory factor analysis results confirmed a single-factor solution (standardized root mean squared residual = 0.04). VVUE was positively associated with VHA health care engagement (ρ = 0.47; P < .001). Predictive validity models demonstrated that higher VVUE measure scores were associated with future use of video visits, where each 1-point increase on VVUE was associated with greater likelihood of having a video visit in subsequent 6 months (adjusted odds ratio, 1.04; 95% CI, 1.02-1.06). Conclusions and Relevance The findings of this study of veterans using video visits suggest that a brief measure is valid to capture veterans' experiences receiving VHA virtual care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study reviewed existing recommendations for virtual mental healthcare services through the quadruple aim framework to create a set of recommendations on virtual healthcare delivery to guide the development of Canadian policies on virtual mental health services. DESIGN We conducted a systematic rapid review with qualitative content analysis of data from included manuscripts. The quadruple aim framework, consisting of improving patient experience and provider satisfaction, reducing costs and enhancing population health, was used to analyse and organise findings. METHODS Searches were conducted using seven databases from 1 January 2010 to 22 July 2022. We used qualitative content analysis to generate themes. RESULTS The search yielded 40 articles. Most articles (85%) discussed enhancing patient experiences, 55% addressed provider experiences and population health, and 25% focused on cost reduction. Identified themes included: screen patients for appropriateness of virtual care; obtain emergency contact details; communicate transparently with patients; improve marginalised patients' access to care; support health equity for all patients; determine the cost-effectiveness of virtual care; inform patients of insurance coverage for virtual care services; increase provider training for virtual care and set professional boundaries between providers and patients. CONCLUSIONS This rapid review identified important considerations that can be used to advance virtual care policy to support people living with mental health conditions in a high-income country.

Abstract
Context Telepsychiatry in India is nearly two decades old and is witnessing rapid adaptation in clinical services. This warrants studying the satisfaction with this mode from healthcare seekers' point of view. Aim This study aimed to study the treatment satisfaction among persons with psychiatric disorders and their caregivers receiving telepsychiatry services via the Manipal model. Settings and Design This was a qualitative cross-sectional study conducted in three centers, which were part of the Manipal model of telepsychiatry, namely community healthcare centers at Hebri, community healthcare centers at Byndoor, and primary healthcare center (PHC) at Kandlur of Udupi District. Methods and Material Semi-structured interview schedule and focused group discussions were conducted to assess the treatment satisfaction. Statistical Analysis Used Descriptive statistics were used to analyze sociodemographic data, and data generated from focused group discussions were qualitatively analyzed. Collected data were coded, and themes were generated from the codes. Results A total of 45 persons with psychiatric disorders and 28 of the caregivers receiving telepsychiatry services were recruited into this study. Results revealed high satisfaction among patients and caregivers with telepsychiatry services provided to them. Qualitative results of this study revealed high satisfaction among patients and caregivers with telepsychiatry services in different domains such as time, cost of treatment, convenience, doctor-patient communication, and healthcare quality. Conclusion This study witnessed that patients and caregivers were highly satisfied with telepsychiatry services provided to them. These findings clearly indicate the importance of telepsychiatry services in the country, where the concept of telepsychiatry and its practice is rising.

Abstract
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged outpatient mental health clinics. This article compares care delivery and patient characteristics before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in outpatient mental health clinics within an academic health system. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in patients who received outpatient psychiatric services at two clinics (A and B). The investigators compared care delivery with patients with mental health conditions prepandemic (January 1-December 31, 2019) and midpandemic (January 1-December 31, 2020) periods. Care delivery was defined as the number and type of new and return visits (telehealth and face-to-face visits), patients with recorded measurement-based care (MBC) outcomes, and communication capability between patients and providers. Results: During the prepandemic period, 6,984 patients were seen in Clinics A and B, resulting in 57,629 visits. In the midpandemic period, 7,110 patients were served, resulting in 61,766 total visits. Medication management visits increased from 2019 to 2020; number of visits with documented outcome measures increased by 90% in Clinic A and 15% in Clinic B. The number of MyChart messages per patient increased more than twofold during the midpandemic period. The number of new visits with primary diagnosis of anxiety disorders increased in CY2020 and the number of visits with primary diagnosis of major depressive/mood disorders decreased in CY2020. Payor mix did not vary between the two periods although there was variability between payor mix at the two primary clinic locations. Discussion: The study suggests that there was no detrimental impact on access to care between the prepandemic and midpandemic periods within the health system. Mental health visits while pivoting to telehealth increased during the midpandemic period. Transition to telepsychiatry improved the ability to administer and document MBC.

Abstract
Purpose The emergence of the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has led to public health restrictions and a shift towards virtual care and telehealth. The aim of this study was to explore barriers and facilitators of virtual care from the perspective of neurological and psychiatric patients. Methods One-on-one interviews were conducted remotely using telephone and online video teleconferencing. There was a total of 57 participants, and a thematic content analysis was conducted using NVivo software. Results The two main themes were (1) virtual health service delivery and (2) virtual physician/patient interaction, with subthemes around how virtual care improved accessibility of care for patients and improved patient-centered care; how privacy and technical issues impact patients using virtual care; and the need for relationality and connection between health care providers and patients while using virtual care. Conclusions This study showed that virtual care can increase accessibility and efficiency for patients and providers, indicating its potential for ongoing use in the delivery of clinical care. Virtual care was found to be an acceptable mode of healthcare delivery from the perspective of patients; however, there is a continued need for relationship-building between care providers and patients.

Abstract
Demands for telepsychiatry have increased due to the challenges of COVID-19. The global pandemic caused a significant increase in anxiety and depression and a worsening of eating disorder symptoms, while the implementation of social distancing both exacerbated these mental health issues and disrupted the in-person delivery of mental health services. Rapid adaptation of telepsychiatry in the acute inpatient setting has been reported with favorable outcomes in patient experiences. This article reports our experience with a transition to telepsychiatry services on an acute eating disorder unit and the impact on quality of care. Forty-two inpatients on an eating disorders unit completed 410 surveys evaluating their experience with telepsychiatry. Simultaneously, surveys were distributed to physicians to identify technical and connectivity issues. Our experience showed that patients on an eating disorder unit, who had an average length of stay of 22 days, were very satisfied with telepsychiatry, with few technical or safety issues.

Abstract
There has been an increasing demand for psychiatric care in recent decades, and "telepsychiatry" was developed to meet these demands. It is a type of telemedicine in which they provide many medical services virtually, such as therapy, counseling, and medication management. Telepsychiatry has numerous advantages, including lower costs, reduced stigma, and improved continuity of care. To the best of our knowledge, no previous studies in the western region of Saudi Arabia addressed patients satisfaction with telepsychiatry. This cross-sectional study aims to assess patient satisfaction in telepsychiatry in terms of accessibility and timeliness, appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety, and to see whether patient satisfaction affects their decision to use the service again in the future. A cross-sectional study was conducted using a prestructured survey on the basis of the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire-18, which is a validated questionnaire used to assess patients' satisfaction with the services provided to them. From January 2021 to July 2021, all male and female psychiatric patients over the age of 18 years who had psychiatric virtual appointments were included in this study. This study included 182 patients, of whom 106 were female. Patients were generally satisfied with the telepsychiatry services; 56.6%, 81.9%, 86.8%, and 91.2% of the participants were satisfied with the access and timeliness, appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety, respectively, and a total of 58.3% either strongly agree or agree of the overall satisfaction level. Depression and anxiety disorders were the most common psychiatric diseases. The statistical analysis revealed no significant relationships between patients' satisfaction and demographic characteristics. Telepsychiatry has been evaluated to meet the growing demand for psychiatric care; it also has significant advantages. Patients had an overall positive satisfaction level toward telepsychiatry service, and so the results of this study support the continuity of using telepsychiatry in the future. Further research area could include a comparison between patients' and providers' satisfaction levels with telepsychiatry.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore adult outpatients' experiences with home-based psychotherapy via videoconferencing in a Danish mental health service. Participants found videoconferencing-based psychotherapy for preventive relapse sessions very useful, and they believed that it was possible to maintain a good therapeutic relationship via videoconferencing when they knew their therapist in advance. However, experiences with more in-depth psychotherapy are more unclear as some felt alienated and preferred other ways to communicate. In general, participants found videoconferencing-based psychotherapy to be less personal but worth considering when travel hassles outweigh the need for meeting in person.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We aimed to evaluate patient and provider experiences with telemental health (TMH) at an academic outpatient psychiatry department in New York City during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS Patients and providers completed online surveys evaluating their experience with TMH during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Surveys were distributed to 1,178 patients and 287 providers from July 2020 through October 2020. RESULTS 42.5% of providers and 21% of patients responded to the survey. The majority of patient and provider respondents rated the quality of phone and video visits as "equally good" or "somewhat worse" than in-person visits, while the majority of respondents were "somewhat satisfied" or "very satisfied" with video visits. Patients and providers preferred a hybrid model for future care. Common barriers to TMH included privacy, technical difficulties, and wi-fi access. CONCLUSIONS Patients and providers appeared willing to exchange some degree of quality for satisfaction with TMH. This study did not demonstrate with statistical significance any specific patient populations that would benefit more or less from TMH, suggesting that TMH may be a successful model for diverse patient populations. Our results suggest that providers, payors, and regulators should facilitate hybrid care delivery models that incorporate TMH beyond the pandemic.

This article draws on research and clinical experience to discuss how and when to use video consultations in mental health settings. The appropriateness and impact of virtual consultations are influenced by the patient's clinical needs and social context, as well as by service-level socio-technical and logistical factors.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected how clinical examinations are conducted, resulting in the Royal College of Psychiatrists delivering the Clinical Assessment of Skills and Competence virtually. Although this pragmatic step has allowed for progression of training, it has come at the cost of a significantly altered examination experience. This article aims to explore the fairness of such an examination, the difference in trainee experience, and the use of telemedicine to consider what might be lost as well as gained at a time when medical education and delivery of healthcare are moving toward the digitised frontier.

Abstract
Background Disparities between weekend and weekday care, termed 'the weekend effect', have led to a UK government pledge to provide 7-day services. Despite this, poor outcomes have led to criticism of the programme. This study consequently sought to evaluate consultant-led virtual review as a model for 7-day cardiology services. Methods Over 4 weekends, cardiology patients underwent virtual review alongside in-person teams. Outcomes included length of stay, same-day discharge and 30-day mortality rates, as well as duration of ward rounds and change in patient management. Patients were surveyed on attitudes towards virtual review. Results Statistical analysis revealed no significant difference in clinical outcomes, while virtual review was noted to significantly decrease time taken (p<0.0001). Attitudes towards virtual review were broadly favourable. Conclusion By demonstrating comparable outcomes compared with conventional review, as well as high acceptability, this study identified virtual review as an effective substitute for in-person care.

Abstract
Background: Societal needs highlighted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in rapid telehealth development and implementation. The broadening of guidelines for practice by regulatory bodies have
allowed providers to employ video-capable devices in the virtual delivery of services to physical- and mentalhealth clients located across a broad range of settings.
Aim of the study: This study examined use of synchronous, video-based, virtual healthcare before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This included a comparison of: access for physical and mental health needs;
differential assessment of service provision by professionals; consumer satisfaction; and, anticipated future
use of virtual healthcare.
Material and Methods: An online survey link was sent to three participant groups: college-aged students,
adults, and retirement-aged persons. A total of 685 participants, varying in age, gender, ethnicity, and experience using tele-healthcare provided usable data for this study.
Results: Half of participants (49.2%; n=337) used virtual healthcare; more people used it during the pandemic (87.2%; n=294) than before (26.4%; n=89). Physical services (86.8%; n=291; primarily physicians) were
more common than mental health services (25.6%; n=86; primarily counselors). Access was most common
through laptop computers (60.7%; n=204). Participants were satisfied with virtual healthcare experiences
(Mdn=5). Almost all participants (94.2%; n=645) believed that virtual healthcare would continue after the
pandemic, but only two-thirds (61.3%; n=420) reported they would use virtual healthcare if available in the
future. Both previous experience with (p<0.001) and satisfaction with (p<0.001) virtual healthcare positively
predicted anticipated future use.
Conclusions: Tele-healthcare has experienced significant growth in the COVID-19 era. Emergency policy
changes have resulted in services being developed and offered in the medical and mental health realms in
conjunction with ongoing empirical evaluations of what does and does not work.

Abstract
Online consultation based on Internet technology is gradually becoming the main way to seek health information and professional assistance. Online user reviews, such as content reviews and star ratings, are an important basis for reflecting users' views on the effectiveness of health services. Here, we used user reviews related to online psychological consultation services for content feature mining and usefulness analyses. We used a professional online psychological counseling service platform in China to collect user reviews that were liked by users as a data sample for a content analysis. An LDA topic model, dictionary-based sentiment analysis, and the NRC Word-Emotion Association Lexicon were used to extract the topic, sentiment, and context features of the content of 4254 useful reviews, and the influence of these features on the usefulness of the reviews was verified by a multiple linear regression analysis. Our results show that the content of online reviews by psychological counseling users presented a positive emotional attitude as a whole and expressed more views on the process, effects, and future expectations of counseling than on other topics. There was a significant correlation between the topic, sentiment, and context features of a user review and its usefulness: reviews giving high scores and containing topics such as "ease emotions" and "consulting expectations" received more user likes. However, the usefulness of a review was significantly reduced if it was in existence for too long. This research provides valuable suggestions for understanding the needs and emotional attitudes of users with mental health problems in terms of online psychological consultation; identifying the factors that affect the number of likes a review receives can help platform users write better consultation evaluations and thereby provide greater usefulness. In addition, the use of online reviews generated by users for content analysis effectively supplements the current research on online psychological counseling in terms of data and methods.

Abstract
Background: Although telepsychiatry has a long history, medical literature lacks a scientometric study evaluating telepsychiatry publications. The purpose of this study was to perform a holistic analysis of telepsychiatry articles published between 1986 and 2019. Methods: We used the "telepsychiatry" keyword for our search and included all documents indexed in Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics, USA) Core Collection between 1986 and 2019, revealing a total of 1,020 articles, of which only 224 were open access. Results: The peak year for publication was 2015, with 96 articles. The United States ranked first with 601 documents followed by Australia and Canada. The University of California and University of Washington were the most productive institutions and, again, 8 of the 10 leading institutions were from the United States. The peak year for citations was 2019, with a total of 2,080 records. Discussion: We believe that systematic approaches are needed to reveal the positive and negative features of telepsychiatry practice, especially from countries where this method is widely utilized, to elucidate the need for telepsychiatry in other countries/regions and to determine how its use can be increased in regions with limited access to health care workers. Conclusion: Although scientific interest in telepsychiatry appears to have increased almost every year since 1986, it has been observed that this interest is still concentrated in certain countries, such as the United States, Australia, and Canada, indicating that telepsychiatry may not have gained use in other countries.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated movement restrictions forced a rapid and massive transition to telepsychiatry to successfully maintain care continuity. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to examine a large number of patients' experiences of, use of, and attitudes toward telepsychiatry. METHODS An anonymous 11-question survey was delivered electronically to 14,000 patients receiving telepsychiatry care at 18 participating centers across 11 US states between the months of April and June 2020, including questions about their age and length of service use, as well as experience and satisfaction with telepsychiatry on a 5-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and report data. RESULTS In total, 3070 patients with different age ranges participated. The overall experience using telepsychiatry was either excellent or good for 1189 (82.2%) participants using video and 2312 (81.5%) using telephone. In addition, 1922 (63.6%) patients either agreed or strongly agreed that remote treatment sessions (telephone or video) have been just as helpful as in-person treatment. Lack of commute (n=1406, 46.1%) and flexible scheduling/rescheduling (n=1389, 45.5%) were frequently reported advantages of telepsychiatry, whereas missing the clinic/hospital (n=936, 30.7%) and not feeling as connected to their doctor/nurse/therapist (n=752, 24.6%) were the most frequently reported challenges. After the current pandemic resolves, 1937 (64.2%) respondents either agreed or strongly agreed that they would consider using remote treatment sessions in the future. CONCLUSIONS Telepsychiatry is very well perceived among a large sample of patients. After the current pandemic resolves, some patients may benefit from continued telepsychiatry, but longitudinal studies are needed to assess impact on clinical outcomes and determine whether patients' perceptions change over time.
