Abstract
The diaphragm is an unique skeletal muscle separating the thoracic and abdominal cavities with a primary function of enabling respiration. When abnormal, whether by congenital or acquired means, the consequences for patients can be severe. Abnormalities that affect the diaphragm are often first detected on chest radiographs as an alteration in position or shape. Cross-sectional imaging studies, primarily CT and occasionally MRI, can depict structural defects, intrinsic and adjacent pathology in greater detail. Fluoroscopy is the primary radiologic means of evaluating diaphragmatic motion, though MRI and ultrasound also are capable of this function. This review provides an update on diaphragm embryogenesis and discusses current imaging of various abnormalities, including the emerging role of three-dimensional printing in planning surgical repair of diaphragmatic derangements.

Abstract
Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia (TDH) is generally a consequence of thoraco-abdominal trauma. Anaesthetic problems arise due to herniation of abdominal contents into the thoracic cavity causing diaphragmatic dysfunction, lung collapse, mediastinal shift and haemodynamic instability. Diagnosis depends on history, clinical signs and radiological investigations. Sometimes, it may be misdiagnosed as hydropneumothorax due to the presence of air and fluid in the viscera lying in the pleural cavity. We report a case of TDH mimicking hydropneumothorax on radiological investigations and subsequent surgical management, which led to serious complications.

Abstract
A traumatic rupture of the diaphragm, with herniation of the abdominal viscera into the thoracic cavity, is relatively rare, being observed in approximately 3-7% of all abdominal or thoracic traumas [1]. Herniation into the pericardium is very rare [2]. We have reviewed the post-traumatic intrapericardial diaphragmatic hernias (TIPDH) published in the world literature within our reach and, as it was already stated in the review carried out by Van Loenhout et al. [3] in 1986, approximately one post-traumatic intrapericardial hernia is reported every year. The patient that we present makes case 82 of those published until October of 1999.
