Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a well-established risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma. Recent studies have also suggested a higher risk of several extrahepatic cancers in patients with chronic HBV infection, including gastric cancer, even though the results are somewhat inconsistent. The current study was conducted to comprehensively investigate whether patients with HBV infection are at a higher risk of incident gastric cancer compared with individuals without HBV infection using systematic review and meta-analysis technique. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Systemic literature review was conducted using Embase and Medline database up to December 2019. Eligible studies had to be cohort studies that consisted of one group of patients with HBV infection and another group of individuals without HBV infection. Relative risk of incident gastric cancer between the groups must be reported. Point estimates and standard errors from each eligible study were combined together using the generic inverse variance method of DerSimonian and Laird. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS A total of 36,812 articles were identified. After two rounds of review, five articles with six cohorts of 120,995 HBV infected patients were included into the meta-analysis. The pooled analysis found that patients with HBV infection had a significantly higher risk of incident gastric cancer than individuals without HBV infection with the pooled risk ratio of 1.49 (95% CI: 1.20-1.85; I2=38%). CONCLUSIONS A significantly increased risk of incident gastric cancer among patients with chronic HBV infection was observed in this systematic review and meta-analysis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the prevalence, characteristics, age distribution and etiology changes of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) in South China. METHODS This study included all patients who underwent endoscopy examinations from 2011 to 2020 in our hospital. Patients were divided into groups 1 (2011-2015) and 2 (2016-2020). The prevalence, characteristics, age distribution and etiology changes of CAG were compared between groups. RESULTS Overall CAG prevalence was 20.92% (24,084/115,110) from 2011 to 2020; prevalence significantly differed between groups (18.78%, 8468/45,087, in group 1 and 22.30%, 15,616/70,023, in group 2). Patients with CAG had significantly younger age (under 45) and more corpus atrophy and more autoimmune atrophic gastritis (AAG) in group 2 than in group 1. AAG prevalence in group 2 was 30.11% (4702/15,616) significantly higher than 13.57% (1149/8468) in group 1. 82 patients with AAG later exhibited gastric cancer without obvious clinical features over the decade. CONCLUSIONS CAG is increasing and seems starting earlier among people during the study period. We need to focus on diagnosis and treatment of corpus related atrophy and AAG, especially for the young. Laboratory examination, endoscopic biopsy and surveillance are important for CAG.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is a common disease that can cause H. pylori-associated gastritis (HAG), peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer. As a traditional Chinese medicine, Polygonum capitatum (PC) manifests its unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of complex diseases and chronic diseases, due to its ability to clear heat, detoxify and relieve pain, promote blood circulation, and remove blood stasis. In order to explore the molecular mechanism of PC for HAG, the study collected the predicted targets of active compounds, conducted functional analysis by the STRING database, collected HAG differential expression genes, and conducted KEGG enrichment analysis on the intersection of predicted targets and differential expression genes of gastritis by Cluego. The results show that PC works mainly by affecting phosphorylation of IκBα, NF-κB p65, p38MAPK, and ERK1/2 and nuclear transposition of NF-κB p65 and p-p38MAPK, which has been proved by in vivo and in vitro experiments. These results suggest that PC may act on HAG with multiple targets and pathways, and play a key role in the process of HAG treatment.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative helical, microaerophilic bacterium which colonizes the antrum and body of the stomach, surviving in its harsh environment through mechanisms of acid resistance and colonization factors. It infects approximately 50% of the world population. Although the prevalence of this infection varies from country to country, as well as between different ethnic, social or age groups, it is estimated that about 50% of the human population only carries this microorganism. While H. pylori has been found to play a major etiological and pathogenic role in chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancer, its importance for many types of extra-gastric disease needs to be further investigated. The choice of tests to diagnose H. pylori infection, defined as invasive or non-invasive, depends on the clinical indication as to whether to perform upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Focusing on bacterial eradication, the treatment should be decided locally based on the use of antibiotics and documented antibiotic resistance. The author provides an overview of the current state of knowledge about the clinical aspects of H. pylori infection, especially its diagnostic and therapeutic management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori is a pathogen involved in several gastroduodenal diseases, whose infection mechanisms have not been completely confirmed. To study the specific mechanism of gastropathy caused by H. pylori, we analyzed the gene microarray of gastric mucosa and gastric cells infected by H. pylori through bioinformatics analysis. METHODS We downloaded GSE60427 and GSE74492 from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, screened differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and identified the Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) through R software. The Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes (STRING) was applied to establish a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and Cytoscape was used to identify the top seven hub genes. Besides, we also constructed the gene-microRNA(gene-miRNA) interaction through the miRTarBase v8.0 database by using the NetworkAnalyst tool. RESULTS One hundred and fifteen DEGs were screened out, with 54 genes up-regulated and 61 genes down-regulated, among which seven hub genes, including "IGF1R," "APOE," "IRS1," "ATF3," "LCN2," "IL2RG," and "PI3," were considered as the main regulatory proteins in gastric cells when infected by H. pylori. CONCLUSION In this study, hub genes and related signal enrichment pathways of gastropathy infected by H. pylori were analyzed through bioinformatics analysis based on the GSE60427 and GSE74492 datasets.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori, a gastric pathogen associated with a broad range of stomach diseases, has a high tendency to become resistant to antibiotics. One of the most important factors related to therapeutic failures is its ability to change from a spiral to a coccoid form. Therefore, the main aim of our original article was to determine the influence of myricetin, a natural compound with an antivirulence action, on the morphological transformation of H. pylori and check the potential of myricetin to increase the activity of antibiotics against this pathogen. We observed that sub-minimal inhibitory concentrations (sub-MICs) of this compound have the ability to slow down the process of transformation into coccoid forms and reduce biofilm formation of this bacterium. Using checkerboard assays, we noticed that the exposure of H. pylori to sub-MICs of myricetin enabled a 4–16-fold reduction in MICs of all classically used antibiotics (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, tetracycline, metronidazole, and levofloxacin). Additionally, RT-qPCR studies of genes related to the H. pylori morphogenesis showed a decrease in their expression during exposure to myricetin. This inhibitory effect was more strongly seen for genes involved in the muropeptide monomers shortening (csd3, csd6, csd4, and amiA), suggesting their significant participation in the spiral-to-coccoid transition. To our knowledge, this is the first research showing the ability of any compound to synergistically interact with all five antibiotics against H. pylori and the first one showing the capacity of a natural substance to interfere with the morphological transition of H. pylori from spiral to coccoid forms.
