Abstract
Aquafeed additive quality and quantity remain pivotal factors that constrain the sustainability and progress of aquaculture feed development. This study investigates the impact of incorporating the benthic diatom Amphora coffeaeformis into the diet of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) broodstock, on the blood biochemistry, steroid hormone (SH) levels and seed production efficiency. Broodstock females displaying mature ovary indications were initially combined with males at a ratio of three females to one male. A total of 384 adult Nile tilapia (288 females and 96 males) were used, with 32 fish (24 females and eight males) assigned to each of 12 concrete tanks (8 m³; 2 m × 4 m × 1 m), with three replicate tanks for each dietary treatment, throughout a 14-day spawning cycle until egg harvest. Fish were fed one of four different dietary treatments: AM0% (control diet), and AM2%, AM4% and AM6% enriched with the diatom A. coffeaeformis at levels of 20, 40 and 60 g/kg of diet respectively. At the trial's conclusion, total protein, albumin, triglyceride and creatinine), SHs (follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, free testosterone, total testosterone, progesterone and prolactin) and seeds production efficiency of Nile tilapia improved significantly (p < 0.05) in alignment with the increment of A. coffeaeformis supplementation. The findings propose that including A. coffeaeformis at levels ranging from 4% to 6% could be effectively employed as a feed additive during the Nile tilapia broodstock's spawning season.

Abstract
This study evaluates the impact of dietary supplementation of the blue-green alga Arthrospira platensis NIOF17/003 nanoparticles (AN) on the growth performance, whole-body biochemical compositions, blood biochemistry, steroid hormonal, and fry production efficiency of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) broodstock, during the spawning season. After a 21-day preparation period to equip the females and ensure that their ovaries were filled with eggs, mating between the mature females and males took place in a 3:1 ratio during a 14-day spawning cycle. A total of 384 tilapia broodstock 288 females and 96 males with an initial body weight of 450.53±0.75, were divided into four groups; AN0: a basal diet as a control group with no supplementation of Arthrospira platensis, and the other three groups (AN2, AN4, and AN6) were diets supplemented with nanoparticles of A. platensis at levels of 2, 4, and 6 g kg─1 diet, respectively. The results found that fish-fed group AN6 showed the highest significant differences in weight gain (WG), final weight (FW), feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and feed efficiency ratio (FER). Females fed the AN6 diet showed the highest significant fat content. Compared to the AN0 group, fish fed on the supplemented diets showed significant improvement (p < 0.05) in triglyceride, glucose, and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). A gradual increase in AN inclusion level resulted in a gradual increase in the concentrations of luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), testosterone, progesterone, and prolactin. The rates (%) of increase in fry production for females fed supplemented diets were 10.5, 18.6, and 32.2% for AN2, AN4, and AN6, respectively, compared to the control group. This work concluded that the inclusion levels of 6 g kg─1 of A. platensis nanoparticles in the diet of Nile tilapia broodstock significantly improved the growth performances, steroid hormone concentrations, and increased the fry production efficiency by 32.2%, respectively. These findings revealed that A. platensis nanoparticles resulted in a significantly enhanced female' reproductive productivity of Nile tilapia broodstock.

Abstract
The present study was executed to evaluate the effect of photoperiod on serum biochemical parameters (glucose, cortisol, ALT, AST and LDH), electrolytic balance (Sodium and potassium), acute phase response (CRP) and histopathology (liver, kidney and skin) of an endangered high valued catfish, Ompok bimaculatus. Catfish (21.00 ± 1.53 cm and 30.00 ± 2.31 g) from the acclimatized stock were randomly distributed to six 120 × 45 × 60 cm3 FRP tanks (n = 20 fish per tank) and exposed to 1500 lx light intensity under different photoperiods [24:0 light: dark (L: D), 15L: 9D, 12L: 12D, 9L: 15D, 0L: 24D and a natural photoperiod (control)], and fed at a daily rate of 2% of bodyweight, twice a day for 60 days. Serum glucose, cortisol and enzymes including aspartate transaminase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine transaminase (ALT), and acute phase reactant, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) increased significantly (P < 0.05) in continuous light (24L: 0D), continuous dark (0L: 24D) and short day (9L: 15D) photoperiods, whereas in 15L: 9D and 12L:12D photoperiods, those were in decreasing trend. Serum electrolytes, i.e. potassium level was elevated and sodium level was declined in 24L: 0D, 0L: 24D and 9L: 15D photoperiod groups. Moreover, significant histological alterations in the liver, kidney and skin tissue were also evidenced in the experimented catfish. Typical polygonal hepatocytes with normal blood vessels in liver and normal organization of kidney were seen in catfish of 15L: 9D group. Histological analysis of other groups displayed nuclear degeneration, karyorrhexis, karyolysis, melanomacrophages, nuclear hypertrophy, sinusoid dilation and vacuolar degeneration in liver and hyaline droplets accumulation, granular degeneration, fragmentation of glomerulus and focal necrosis of epithelial cells in kidney. Additionally, general structure of the skin was observed in control group as well as in 15L: 9D group. Contrarily, in 24L: 0D group increased number of mucous cells and vacuoles was observed in the skin of butter catfish. In 9L: 15D and 0L: 24D photoperiods, O. bimaculatus exhibited ruptured epithelial cells, enlarged alarm cells, fat cells, necrotic cells and vacuoles in the skin tissue. The present study depicted that 15L: 9D photoperiod can induce better health of catfish, O. bimaculatus, which, in turn, can help farmers to increase the production of this high valued catfish in future.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of red yeast (Sporidiobolus pararoseus) produced from crude glycerol, as a by-product of the biodiesel production process, on the growth, innate immunity, expression of immune-related gene, and resistance of Nile tilapia against challenge with Streptococcus agalactiae. Fish were fed diets supplied with different concentrations of S. pararoseus dried cells at 0.0 (control; T1), 5.0 (T2), 10.0 (T3), and 20.0 (T4) g kg-1 diets for 90 days. The results showed that final body weight, weight gain, and average daily gain were significantly higher in fish fed T3 and T4 compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Likewise, significant (p < 0.05) increases in total carotenoid content, liver superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), and serum lysozyme and albumin were observed in Nile tilapia fed S. pararoseus, with the highest (p < 0.05) values displayed in fish fed the T4 diet. Moreover, up-regulation of IL-1β transcription in Nile tilapia spleen and liver was observed in fish feeding group T4. In a challenge test against S. agalactiae, the fish survival rate was significantly higher in fish fed red yeast compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The highest bactericidal activity found in the T4 group (p < 0.05). However, no significant differences were found in hematology, blood chemical, malondialdehyde (MDA), body chemical composition, organosomatic indices, and myeloperoxidase (p > 0.05) in all treatments. The present results suggested that red yeast S. pararoseus (20.0 g kg-1) can be used as a potential supplementation on growth, immune response, and disease resistance of Nile tilapia.

Abstract
Striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) is one of the important fish species in the world, which is widely cultured in several countries worldwide including Egypt. Aeromonas hydrophila infection showed a high prevalence in the farmed striped catfish negatively affecting its production causing economic loss. Therefore, the finding of functional feed supplements with antimicrobial activity is urgently needed. The use of marine seaweeds as feed supplements has produced satisfactory results as antibacterial agents. Accordingly, the present study was designed to evaluate the dietary effects of seaweeds mixture (Ulva lactuca, Jania rubens, and Pterocladia capillacea) extract (SME) on the growth performance, haemato-chemical parameters, antioxidant capacity, immune indices, and resistance of striped catfish fry against A. hydrophila infection. Four isonitrogenous (30% crude protein) diets were prepared to contain 0.0% (control), 1%, 2%, and 3% SME and were fed to striped catfish fry (1.7 ± 0.1 g) up to apparent satiety three times a day for 60 days. After the feeding trial, fish of each treatment were intraperitoneally injected with a virulent A. hydrophila strain and the relative percentage of survival (RPS) was recorded. The growth-stimulating activity of dietary SME was observed especially at 2% and 3% SME treatments. Similarly, haematological parameters (red blood cells, haemoglobin, haematocrit, and white blood cells) and serum protein profile (total protein, albumin, and globulin) were significantly (P < 0.05) improved, meanwhile serum alanine and aspartate aminotransferases were significantly (P < 0.05) decreased in fish fed with 2 and 3% SME diets. Serum creatinine and uric acid levels revealed no significant (P > 0.05) differences among the experimental groups. Hepatic malondialdehyde and serum nitrous acid levels were significantly decreased; meanwhile hepatic superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase levels were significantly increased in all SME-treated groups than the control one. Also, SME supplementations significantly increased the serum lysozyme, total immunoglobulin, and complement C3 activities with highest values at 2% and 3% SME treatments. Interestingly, after bacterial challenge, fish fed SME-supplemented diet were more resistant with the lowest fish mortality (15%) at the 3% SME diet, which exhibit the highest RPS (81.9%). Meanwhile the control group showed highest mortality (85%). According to the regression fitting curve, the current study recommends using the dietary SME with optimum levels of 2.25-2.5% to improve the growth performance, welfare status, and resistance of striped catfish fry against A. hydrophila infection.

Abstract
This study reports the effect of ulvan enriched diet on the influence of growth, changes in hemato-biochemical indices, improvement of antioxidant system, enhancement of innate-adaptive immunity and modification of immuno-antioxidant genes expression in Labeo rohita against Flavobacterium columnaris. The weight gain (WG) was significantly high (P > 0.05) in unchallenged normal and challenged fish fed with diets enriched with 25 and 50 mg kg-1 ulvan; the FCR was better (P > 0.05) when fed with 50 mg kg-1 enriched diet. In normal fish fed with or without ulvan supplementation was noted 100% survival rate (SR). In both groups, the red blood cell (RBC) and while blood cell (WBC) counts increased significantly (P > 0.05) when fed with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet whereas the hemoglobin (Hb) level increased significantly on being fed with 25 and 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diets. The SOD activity was enhanced significantly in both groups fed with any dose of ulvan diets whereas the MDA and GPx activity increased only with 25 and 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diets. The phagocytic (PC) activity significantly increased with any enriched diet and control diet groups while the respiratory burst (RB) activity increased only with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet. The alternate complement pathway (ACP), activity of lysozyme (Lyz), and immunoglobuline M (IgM) were better in both groups fed with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet. The SOD and GPx antioxidant gene expression were significantly high in both groups fed with any ulvan diet while the Nrf2 gene expression was high with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet. The IL-1β, TNFα, hepcidin, Lyz, and IgM cytokines or proteins mRNA expression were significant in both groups fed with all ulvan supplement diet whereas the β-2M expression was significant only with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet. The present research indicates that both L. rohita groups fed with 50 mg kg-1 ulvan diet significantly improved growth, antioxidant system, immune defense system, and immuno-antioxidant related gene expression against F. columnaris.

Abstract
The current trial investigated the roles of β-carotene and phycocyanin extracted from Spirulina platensis on growth, serum biochemical, digestive enzymes, antioxidant defense, immune responses, and immune gene expression in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Fish (1.52 ± 0.10 g) were randomly stocked to three treatments with three replicates (12 fish per replicate) in nine aquaria (60 L glass aquarium for each), and reared for 70-days. Three tested diets were formulated to be isonitrogenous and isolipidic, and were offered for experimental fish until ad-libitum three times daily at 09:00 a.m., 11.00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The first diet (control) was without supplementation. About 50 mg β-carotene and 50 mg phycocyanin kg-1 were supplemented to the other experimental diets, respectively. Results indicated that feed intake was not (P > 0.05) differ among experimental diets. Compared to control diet wight gain and specific growth rate were significantly (P < 0.05) in fish fed diet containing β-carotene, while, the highest weight gain and the best FCR were detected in phycocyanin diet. Survival fish among treatments was significantly (P < 0.05) differ and the highest survival rate was showed in fish fed diet supplemented with phycocyanin. Either β-carotene or phycocyanin significantly (P < 0.05) improved the intestinal digestive enzymes compared with control diet, where the highest values of chymotrypsin, trypsin, lipase and amylase were noticed in fish fed phycocyanin. Diets supplemented with β-carotene and phycocyanin significantly (P < 0.05) improved hematology parameters contents compared with to the control diet, and the best contents were detected in fish fed diet supplemented with phycocyanin. The highest significant (P < 0.05) phagocytic, lysozyme, immunoglobulin M (IgM), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) activities were recorded in diet supplemented with phycocyanin. The transcripts of interferon gamma and interleukin 1β genes were (P < 0.05) up-regulated in the liver of fish fed diet supplemented with β-carotene and phycocyanin, but expression of HSP70 gene down-regulated in fish fed β-carotene and phycocyanin containing diet compared control. The highest gene expression of the interferon gamma and interleukin 1β was observed in fish fed phycocyanin.
