Abstract
Infertility is one of the most common non-communicable diseases, affecting both men and women equally. Ovarian reserve, the number of primordial follicles in the ovaries is believed to be the most important determinants for female fertility. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) secreted from granulosa cells of growing follicles is recognized as the most important biomarker for ovarian reserve. Ovarian reserve models have been developed using AMH and other hormonal indicators, thus childbearing plans and reproductive choices could be arranged by women. In assisted reproductive technology cycles, measurement of AMH helps to predict ovarian response and guide recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone dosing in women. Serum AMH level is increasingly being recognized as a potential surrogate marker for polycystic ovarian morphology, one of the criteria for diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome. AMH is also secreted by Sertoli cells of testes in men, and AMH measurements in the prediction of surgical sperm recovery rate in men have also been investigated. AMH levels are significantly higher in boys than in girls before puberty. Therefore, serum levels of AMH in combination with testosterone is used for the differential diagnosis of disorders of sex development, anorchia, non-obstructive azoospermia, and persistent Müllerian duct syndrome. Recently, serum AMH measurements have also been used in fertility preservation programs in oncofertility, screening for granulosa cell tumors, and prediction of menopause applications. In this review, we will focus on clinical application of AMH in fertility assessments for healthy men and women, as well as for cancer patients. Abstract
In women, the majority of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) measured in serum originate from small antral follicles measuring 2-10 mm. In gonadotrophin-stimulated cycles prior to assisted reproductive technology (ART), most of the recruitable follicles develop beyond 10 mm in size and thus lose their AMH secretion capacity causing declining serum AMH levels. The aim of this study was to define the residual serum AMH level after elimination of the AMH producing recruitable follicles following maximal gonadotrophin stimulation. We measured serum AMH and number of follicles according to size at several time points during a cycle of maximal gonadotrophin stimulation (fixed dose of 300 IE HP-hMG) in 107 women with low AMH (median AMH 5 pmol/L, interquartile range (IQR) 3.3-8.3). We found that AMH decreased gradually and reached a minimum level of -55.4% (95% CI -59.6; -50.7) of the baseline value four days after ovulation trigger. Our findings suggest that the residual AMH production origins from pre-antral and small antral follicles not visible by sonography and that they account for up to 40% of the circulating AMH.

Abstract
The preservation of female germ cells is important in the individuals with ovarian dysfunction and failure. For this purpose, ovarian follicle in vitro maturation (OFIVM) is an important technology for the retrieval of mature oocytes. In the in vivo follicular development, paracrine factors such as angiotensin (AT) and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) play important roles. We attempted to add estrogen during the OFIVM and to assess their expression on the follicular cells. The ovaries and pre-antral follicles were collected from 13-day C57BL/6 mice and cultured in vitro with estradiol (E2) treatment for up to two weeks. In the whole ovaries, the expression of AT II was decreased and the expression of AMH was similar between control and E2-treated ovaries after in vitro culture. Although there was no difference in the survival, ovulation, maturation and fertilization rates between control and E2-treated groups, the expression of AT II in the follicular cells was down-regulated after E2 treatment at mRNA level, and AMH showed similar expression. In conclusion, adding E2 in OFIVM may regulate paracrine factors and their receptors that are related to follicular development. Further investigations are necessary to elucidate the roles of various sex hormones in the regulation of AT and AMH expression during the OFIVM.

Abstract
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is secreted from the preantral and small antral follicles. It regulates follicle development and inhibits follicular atresia. This study examined how age, parity, and time after parturition affect
plasma AMH concentrations in Japanese Black cows. We measured plasma AMH concentrations in primiparous, secundiparous, and multiparous (third parity or higher) cows at four time points: day 2 (day 0 = parturition), day 8, 2 days
before first postpartum ovulation (pre-1stOv), and 12 days after first ovulation (post-1stOV). We observed a positive correlation between plasma AMH concentration and age (in months) and parity on day 2, day 8, and post-1stOV, but
not on pre-1stOv. The multiparous cows had higher AMH concentrations than primiparous cows throughout the postpartum period (P < 0.05). Our results indicate that age and parity significantly influence plasma AMH concentrations
in Japanese Black cows during the voluntary waiting period.
