Abstract
In light of increasing research evidence on the molecular mechanisms of allergic diseases, the crucial roles of innate and acquired immunity in the disease's pathogenesis have been well highlighted. In this respect, much attention has been paid to the modulation of unregulated and unabated inflammatory responses aiming to suppress pathologic immune responses in treating allergic diseases. One of the most important natural compounds with a high potency of immune modulation is curcumin, an active polyphenol compound derived from turmeric, Curcuma longa L. Curcumin's immunomodulatory action mainly arises from its interactions with an extensive collection of immune cells such as mast cells, eosinophils, epithelial cells, basophils, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. Up to now, there has been no detailed investigation of curcumin's immunomodulatory actions in allergic diseases. So, the present review study aims to prepare an overview of the immunomodulatory effects of curcumin on the pathologic innate immune responses and dysregulated functions of T helper (TH) subtypes, including TH1, TH2, TH17, and regulator T cells (Tregs) by gathering evidence from several studies of In-vitro and In-vivo. As the second aim of the present review, we also discuss some novel strategies to overcome the limitation of curcumin in clinical use. Finally, this review also assesses the therapeutic potential of curcumin regarding its immunomodulatory actions in allergic diseases.

Abstract
Metabolic disorders like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity are major medical problems globally. The incidence of these disorders has increased tremendously in recent years. Studies have demonstrated that plants with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have beneficial effects on these disorders. One of these plants is Citrus hystrix DC, commonly known as kaffir lime. This review aims to present updates on the progress of research regarding the use of C. hystrix in metabolic disorders. Phytochemical compounds, including β-pinene, sabinene, citronellal, and citronellol, have been detected in the plant; and its extract exhibited potential antidiabetic, antihyperlipidemic and anti-obesity activity, as well as prevention of development of hypertension. These beneficial properties may be attributable to the presence of bioactive compounds which have therapeutic potential in treating these metabolic disorders. The compounds have the potential to be developed as candidate drugs. This review will assist in validating the regulatory role of the extract and its bioactive compounds on metabolic disorders, thus expediting future research in the area.

Abstract
In this study, borneol, a natural active compound was applied to improve the bioavailability of curcumin (CUR). In order to increase CUR solubility and dissolution, solid dispersions (SDs) were prepared with the matrix of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) at various ratios by solvent evaporation method. CUR was evidenced to exist as amorphous state in solid dispersion by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was utilized to confirm intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The SD at the ratio of 1:3 (CUR:PVP) exhibited the optimal solubility and dissolution rate in various media. The results of ex vivo permeability studies by everted gut sac method showed that the apparent permeability coefficients (Papp) of CUR in SD across the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum had been significantly improved by co-incubation of borneol, and the improvement degree relied on the concentration of borneol. The pharmacokinetic results in rats indicated that the AUC0-t of CUR-SD (40 mg/kg) co-administration of borneol (90 mg/kg) were 2.53-fold higher than CUR-SD alone, and 19.41-fold higher than pure CUR (200 mg/kg) with borneol (90 mg/kg). Therefore, the combination of borneol and solid dispersion strategy provide a potential approach to enhance the oral bioavailability of CUR.

Abstract
Substantial human and preclinical studies have shown that curcumin, a dietary compound from turmeric, has a variety of health-promoting effects including but not limited to antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer actions. However, curcumin has poor bioavailability, and high doses of curcumin are usually needed to exert its health-promoting effects in vivo, limiting its applications for disease prevention. Here, we discuss the health-promoting effects of curcumin, factors limiting its bioavailability, and strategies to improve its oral bioavailability.

Abstract
Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, with about 48,000 deaths each year worldwide. Growing evidence suggests that individual nutrients or dietary patterns might have important roles in the prevention of melanoma. Considering that melanoma is a potentially life-threatening cancer, novel protective and adjuvant treatments are needed to improve its prognosis. Curcumin is a bioactive substance extracted from rhizome of Curcuma longa L. Its global market is expected to grow in the next few years, especially in the pharmaceutical industry, due to its numerous physiological and pharmacological properties. For this review, we collected the available data on the protective and therapeutic role of curcumin against melanoma. We also discuss the chemistry, dietary sources, bioavailability, and metabolism of curcumin, and the mechanisms of action of its potential anticancer effects at the molecular level. Current challenges and future directions for research are also critically discussed.

Abstract
Despite the promising anticancer potential of curcumin, its therapeutic application has been limited, owing to its poor solubility, bioavailability, and chemical fragility. Therefore, various formulation approaches have been attempted to address these problems. In this study, we entrapped curcumin into monoolein (MO)-based liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNs) and evaluated the physicochemical properties and anticancer activity of the LCN dispersion. The results revealed that particles in the curcumin-loaded LCN dispersion were discrete and monodispersed, and that the entrapment efficiency was almost 100%. The stability of curcumin in the dispersion was surprisingly enhanced (about 75% of the curcumin survived after 45 days of storage at 40°C), and the in vitro release of curcumin was sustained (10% or less over 15 days). Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) analysis using a human colon cancer cell line (HCT116) exhibited 99.1% fluorescence gating for 5 μM curcumin-loaded LCN dispersion compared to 1.36% for the same concentration of the drug in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), indicating markedly enhanced cellular uptake. Consistent with the enhanced cellular uptake of curcumin-loaded LCNs, anticancer activity and cell cycle studies demonstrated apoptosis induction when the cells were treated with the LCN dispersion; however, there was neither noticeable cell death nor significant changes in the cell cycle for the same concentration of the drug in DMSO. In conclusion, entrapping curcumin into MO-based LCNs may provide, in the future, a strategy for overcoming the hurdles associated with both the stability and cellular uptake issues of the drug in the treatment of various cancers.
