Abstract
Primary ovarian carcinoid tumors are rare well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors classified as monodermal teratomas. They usually occur in perimenopausal woman and are accompanied with mature cystic teratoma or mucinous tumors. The diagnosis may be supported by the clinical presentation of carcinoid syndromes such as flushing, diarrhea, or chronic constipation. Here, we report on the case of a 51-year-old female with surgically confirmed primary ovarian carcinoid, describe the MRI features of the tumor, and correlate them with the pathological findings.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Sclerosing stromal tumor is a benign sex cord-stromal tumor, that commonly occurs in the second and third decades of age. Intraoperative diagnosis of this entity poses a great challenge because of the rare occurrence and can mimic malignant lesions. A 15-year-old female presented with a right ovarian mass. Serum markers were within normal limits. The radiological evaluation showed a large heterogeneously enhancing solid cystic abdominopelvic mass of size 16 × 14 × 9 cm with non-visualization of both ovaries separately and a few areas of calcification with mild ascites. An open cystectomy was performed. A part of the cyst wall was sent for an intraoperative frozen section. It was reported as sclerosing stromal tumor, and the post-operative specimen also confirmed the same. Areas of calcification and ossification were also identified as additional findings. We reported this case because of the uncommon occurrence, highlighting additional histological features, and also did a literature review, especially focussing on the intra-operative diagnosis.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary (SSTO) is a rare benign neoplasm of the ovary, accounting for about 6% of all sex cord stromal ovarian tumors. Only 17 cases of SSTO occurring during pregnancy have been reported to date. We report a case of SSTO occurring during pregnancy and review the existing literature. A 32-year-old pregnant woman was found to have a 10-cm solid mass in the right adnexa, and a large volume of ascites fluid was detected by ultrasound examination in the second trimester. The patient underwent abdominal puncture to relieve her symptoms in the second trimester, and a partial right oophorectomy and cesarean section were performed at 39 weeks of gestation. Final pathology confirmed the diagnosis of SSTO. Both the mother and baby were well at 6 months of postpartum follow-up. Clinical symptoms, and hormone and imaging examinations are all helpful in making a differential diagnosis of SSTO, but the unique histopathological and immunohistochemistry findings remain the main diagnostic features. Pregnant women with SSTO usually undergo enucleation or unilateral oophorectomy, which generally does not have adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
Objectives This study was designed to evaluate the specific imaging features of ovarian sclerosing stromal tumor (SST), improve its accuracy as well as the specificity of imaging diagnosing, and prevent overestimation of malignancy to reduce unnecessary surgical procedures. Methods Eight patients with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and six with computed tomography (CT) images were analyzed in this retrospective observational study. All the cases were confirmed by postoperative pathological examination as those of ovarian SST. Imaging and pathological features were also evaluated. Results All the 14 masses displayed cystic and solid components with outer surface of tumors contained a capsular and complete smooth rim. Eight tumors of MRI exhibited “lake-island” sign on T2 weighted imaging (T2WI). Two of the 6 CT cases displayed a flaky calcification. One case showed as a multiloculated cystic mass with irregularly thickened septae and the tumor wall. The solid components in other 13 masses were comb- or wheel-like enhanced. After injection of contrast agent, the solid components in 8 cases (57.1%) appeared as early enhancement, whereas the other 6 cases (42.9%) appeared as progressive enhanced, and the cystic components of all the cases had no enhancement in the whole course. Vascular flow signals or/and marked enhancement of the blood vessels were found in 12 lesions (85.7%). Pathological examination demonstrated pseudolobule patterns, round to spindle shaped cells, collagenous areas, edematous hypocellular areas and prominent vasculatures. Conclusions The results demonstrated that MRI with “lake-island” signs on T2WI and MRI/CT dynamic enhancement could potentially play a critical role in facilitating appropriate diagnosis preoperatively.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary is a rare benign sex-cord stromal tumor that affects primarily young females. In a series of six patients (mean 24,6, median 19 years) findings of six MRIs and one CT were analyzed. Unilateral tumors ranging from 6 to 8 cm were found in all patients. The tumors were well encapsulated and polylobulated. The morphology was mixed solid and cystic in three and solid in three patients. In CT, a hypervascular tumor with centripetal enhancement was seen. In MRI T2 weighted imaging showed low signal intensity of the solid tissue in all cases and low diffusion-weighted imaging signal of the solid tissue in high b-value diffusion-weighted imaging in three patients. Contrast enhancement was avid with extension from the periphery in all patients. Knowledge of these distinct radiological features of sclerosing stromal tumor is important, as in the Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System risk classification system this may be scored as Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System 5. Because of its non-aggressive clinical course, pre-operative imaging assists to avoid unnecessary extensive surgery and to preserve the patient’s fertility by only resecting the tumor and preserving the ovary. Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary presents pathognomonic features in MRI that allow a specific pre-operative diagnosis and selecting candidates for fertility-sparing surgery.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor (SST) is a rare benign neoplasm of the ovary. There are only a few cases of sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary during pregnancy that have been reported in the literature. The presenting symptoms are nonspecific, including pelvic pain or menstrual irregularities. We describe a case of a young 22-year-old pregnant woman who presented with pelvic pain in the second trimester. On imaging she was found to have a 12 cm left adnexal mass with solid features on MRI. The patient underwent exploratory laparotomy and removal of the mass that was attached to the left ovary via a stalk with preservation of the left ovary. The frozen section diagnosis was “sex cord stromal tumor, favor benign”. The final pathology confirmed the diagnosis of the sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary where characteristic features of SST including a heterogenous, pseudolobular growth pattern with hypercellular and hypocellular areas were identified along with prominent luteinized stromal cells attributed to pregnancy. In this case report and review of literature, we emphasize consideration of this rare ovarian tumor in the differential diagnosis for a young pregnant woman who presents with pelvic pain.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor (SST) of the ovary, which was first described by Chalvardjian and Scully in 1973, is a rare ovarian neoplasm, occurring predominantly in young women. The most common clinical symptom in patients with SST is menstrual irregularities. Microscopically, the tumor is characterized by the presence of pseudo-lobulated cellular areas, with a prominent tendency to sclerosis, marked vascularity and pronounced variation in cellular size and shape. In the current study, 2 cases of SST of the ovary are presented. These cases were confirmed by imaging, surgical and histological examination. No adjuvant therapy was administered to the patients and the two patients were disease-free with no imaging findings of recurrence or metastasis 24 months following surgery.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumour (SST) of the ovary is an extremely rare and benign ovarian neoplasm, accounting for 6% of the sex cord stromal ovarian tumours subtype. Usually, it is found during the second and third decades of life. Patients commonly present with pelvic pain, a palpable pelvic mass or menstrual irregularity. We report a case of a 20-year-old woman reporting of mild pelvic pain, with normal laboratory data. On imaging examinations, a large right adnexal tumour was found, with features suggesting an ovarian sex cord tumour. The patient underwent right salpingo-oophorectomy, diagnosing a SST of the ovary. This paper also reviews the literature, and emphasises the typical pathological and imaging characteristics of these rare benign ovarian lesions, and their impact, in a conservative surgery.

Abstract
Complex solid and multicystic ovarian lesions are broad-spectrum diseases, ranging from benign to malignant. This article describes the broad-spectrum and imaging features of complex solid and multicystic ovarian lesions and illustrates an algorithmic approach to such lesions, focusing on the ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging features that allow one to hone the differential diagnosis. Multimodality imaging workup plays an important role in the characterization and differential diagnosis of these diseases. Also, knowledge of the clinical setting and imaging features for the spectrum of complex solid and multicystic ovarian lesions can lead to appropriate management.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumours are rare benign ovarian neoplasms of the sex cord stromal that occur predominantly in the second and third decades of life. To date, 208 cases have been recorded in the literature. Most patients have menstrual irregularities and pelvic pain. Infertility and virilisation have also been described. In this article, histopathological features and differential diagnosis of the benign sclerosing stromal tumour were described together with the literature data. It is imperative to consider the differential diagnosis of a sclerozing stromal tumour of the ovary in a young woman with an ovarian tumour. A combination of morphological, immunohistochemical, radiological and clinical findings is needed in differentiating the tumour from thecoma, fibroma/fibrosarcoma, lipoid tumours and Krukenberg tumour.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor is a rare, benign, sex cord stromal tumor of the ovary. We report a case of extragonadal sclerosing stromal tumor in a 45-year-old woman who presented with menstrual irregularity and vague pelvic pain. Imaging studies showed a well-defined mass between the posterior wall of the bladder and uterus, suspected of being a pedunculated leiomyoma. The histopathological and immunohistochemical study was consistent with sclerosing stromal tumor. No ovarian tissue was found on representative sectioning. This is the first case of sclerosing stromal tumor in an extragonadal location.

Abstract
Sclerosing stromal tumor (SST) is a rare benign ovarian neoplasm classified as a type of sex cord stromal tumor that occurs predominantly in young patients. Several reports have described the US, CT and MR features of SST, but there have been no reports of a bilateral calcified SST in a child. We present a case of a bilateral SST of the ovary with calcification in a 12-year-old premenarchal girl and describe the US, CT, MR and pathological findings.

Abstract
Ovarian sex cord stromal tumor (OSCST), sclerosing type, is an extremely rare ovarian tumor. Sex hormone production by OSCST can result in isosexual or heterosexual precocious puberty in younger patients. We present a case of a 7-month-old female infant found to have a sclerosing-type OSCST that presented with vaginal bleeding and very prominent vellus hair at the mons pubis. This represents the youngest patient reported in the literature with this subset of OSCST.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this article was to research the clinical and imaging features of sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary to help in specific diagnosis of ovarian tumors. Sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary are rare ovarian neoplasms, which arise from stromal cells and primitive sex cords in the ovary. The common types are granulosa cell tumors, fibrothecomas, sclerosing stromal tumors, and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. They account for most of the hormonally active ovarian tumors. They have characteristic imaging features in each type of the tumor. CONCLUSION Clinical and radiologic clues are helpful in differential diagnosis from the more common epithelial tumors; sex cord-stromal tumors primarily are treated surgically and have generally good prognosis.
