Abstract
Encapsulation of natural polymer pectin (Pec) into a zeolitic imidazolate framework-12 (ZIF-12) matrix via a simple chemical method toward anticancer agent gallic acid (GA) detection is reported in this work. GA, a natural phenol found in many food sources, has gained attention by its biological effects on the human body, such as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Therefore, it is crucial to accurately and rapidly determine the GA level in humans. The encapsulation of Pec inside the ZIF-12 has been successfully confirmed from the physiochemical studies such as XRD, Raman, FTIR, and XPS spectroscopy along with morphological FESEM, BET, and HRTEM characterization. Under optimized conditions, the Pec@ZIF-12 composite exhibits wide linear range of 20 nM-250 μM with a detection limit of 2.2 nM; also, it showed excellent selectivity, stability, and reproducibility. Furthermore, the real sample analysis of food samples including tea, coffee, grape, and pomegranate samples shows exceptional recovery percentage in an unspiked manner. So far, there is little literature for encapsulating proteins, enzymes, metals, etc., that have been reported; here, we successfully encapsulated a natural polymer Pec inside the ZIF-12 cage. This encapsulation significantly enhanced the composite electrochemical performance, which could be seen from the overall results. All of these strongly suggest that the proposed Pec@ZIF-12 composite could be used for miniaturized device fabrication for the evaluation of GA in both home and industrial applications.

Abstract
In this research, we present a novel design protocol for the in-situ synthesis of MgAl layered double hydroxide-copper metal-organic frameworks (LDH-MOFs) nanocomposite based on the electrocoagulation process and chemical method. The overall goal in this project is the primary synthesis of para-phthalic acid (PTA) intercalated MgAl-LDH with Cu (II) ions to produce the paddle-wheel like Cu-(PTA) MOFs nanocrystals on/in the MgAl-LDH structure. The physicochemical properties of final product; Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH, were characterized by the surface analysis and chemical identification methods (SEM, EDX, TEM, XRD, BET, FTIR, CHN, DLS, etc.). The Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH nanocomposite was used to modification of the carbon paste electrode (CPE); Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH/CPE. The electrochemical performance of Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH/CPE was demonstrated through the utilization of electrochemical methods. The results show a stable redox behavior of the Cu (III)/Cu (II) at the surface of Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH/CPE in alkaline medium (aqueous 0.1 M NaOH electrolyte). Then, the Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH/CPE was used as a new electrocatalyst toward the oxidation of formaldehyde (FA). Electrochemical data show that the Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDH/CPE exhibits superior electrocatalytic performance on the oxidation of FA. Also the diffusion coefficient, exchange current density (J°) and mean value of catalytic rate constant (Kcat) were found to be 1.18 × 10-6 cm2 s-1, 23 mA cm-2 and 0.4537 × 104 cm3 mol-1 s-1, respectively. In general, it can be said the Cu-(PTA) MOFs/MgAl-LDHs is promising candidate for applications in direct formaldehyde fuel cells.

Abstract
The S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst holds potential for better photocatalysis owing to its capacity to broaden the light absorption range, ease electron-hole separation, extend the charge carrier lifespan, and maximize the redox ability. In this study, we integrate zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs-67) with the CuFe-LDH composite, offering a straightforward approach towards creating a novel hybrid nanostructure, enabling remarkable performance in both photocatalytic hydrogen (H2) evolution and carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol (MeOH) conversion. The ZIF-67/CuFe-LDH photocatalyst exhibits an enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 7.4 mmol g-1 h-1 and an AQY of 4.8%. The superior activity of CO2 reduction to MeOH generation was 227 μmol g-1 h-1 and an AQY of 5.1%, and it still exhibited superior activity after continuously working for 4 runs with nearly negligible decay in activity. The combined spectroscopic analysis, electrochemical study, and computational data strongly demonstrate that this hybrid material integrates the advantageous properties of the individual ZIF-67 and CuFe-LDH exhibiting distinguished photon harvesting, suppression of the photoinduced electron-hole recombination kinetics, extended lifetime, and efficient charge transfer, subsequently boosting higher photocatalytic activities.

Abstract
The construction of low-cost oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts with high activity and good durability is a considerable challenge for facilitating the efficient utilization of green energy. Herein, the prism-like materials of institute lavoisier frameworks-88 (MIL-88) was first synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Then, Co-Ni layered double hydroxides (CoNi-LDHs) nanosheets were directly wrapped on the MIL-88 surface by electrodeposition to form core-shell MIL-88@CoNi-LDHs composites. Due to the distinct structure and synergistic effect between the MIL-88 core and CoNi-LDHs shell, it was found that MIL-88@CoNi-LDHs had outstanding OER activity with a small Tafel slope (45.55 mV dec-1), low overpotential (314 mV) at 10 mA cm-2, and superior durability. This study provides a prospective pathway to exploit highly efficient low-cost electrocatalysts for OER.

Abstract
Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are potential electrocatalysts to address the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) of water splitting. In this work, copper oxide (CuO/Cu2O) nanoparticles are integrated with cobalt-manganese layered double hydroxide (CoMn-LDH) to enhance their performance towards OER. The catalyst is synthesized by growing CoMn-LDH nanosheets in the presence of CuO/Cu2O nanoparticles that were obtained by the calcination of the copper containing metal-organic framework (HKUST-1). The synthesized CoMn-LDH@CuO/Cu2O electrocatalyst shows excellent activity towards OER with an overpotential of 297 mV at a catalytic current density of 10 mA cm-2 and have a Tafel slope value of 89 mV dec-1. Moreover, a slight decrease in the performance parameters is observed until the 15 h of continuous operation. We propose that the conductive strength of CuO/Cu2O and its synergistic effect with the CoMn-LDH are responsible for the improved OER performance of the desired electrocatalyst.

Abstract
The energy, material, and environmental problems of society require clean materials and impose an urgent need to develop effective chemical processes for obtaining and converting energy to ensure further sustainable development. To solve these challenges, it is necessary, first of all, to learn solar energy harvesting through the development of artificial photosynthesis. In our planet, water, carbon dioxide, and methane are such affordable and inexhaustible clean materials. Electro/photocatalytic water splitting, and also CO2 and CH4 transforming into valuable products, requires the search for relevant efficient and selective processes and catalysts. Of great interest is the emerging new generation of bioinspired catalysts—metallocavitins (MCs). MCs are attracting increasing attention of researchers as advanced models of metalloenzymes, whose efficiency and selectivity are well known. The primary field of MC application is fine organic synthesis and enantioselective catalysis. On the other hand, MCs demonstrate high activity for energy challenging reactions involving small gas molecules and high selectivity for converting them into valuable products. This mini-review will highlight some recent advances in the synthesis of organic substances using MCs, but its main focus will be on the rapid development of advanced catalysts for the activation of small molecules, such as H2O, CO2, and CH4, and the prospects for creating related technological processes in the future.
