Abstract
The risk of suicide in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) poses a major concern, with studies suggesting that genetics may be a contributing factor. Although there are many transcriptomic studies on postmortem brain tissue related to suicidal behavior, the blood transcriptional mechanisms of suicidal ideation (SI) remain unknown. This study utilized a weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) approach to investigate the associations between gene coexpression modules and SI in individuals with MDD using peripheral blood RNA-seq data from 75 MDD patients with SI (MDD_SI), 82 MDD patients without SI (MDD_nSI), and 149 healthy controls (HC). An ANCOVA was conducted to assess differences in gene coexpression modules among groups, with age and sex included as covariates. The gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) databases were used to annotate module functions. Results indicated that the magenta module (associated with RNA splicing processes) differentiated MDD_SI from MDD_nSI (p = 0.021), while the green module (related to immune and inflammatory responses) distinguished MDD_SI from HC (p = 0.004). Additionally, three modules showed differences between MDD_nSI and HC: magenta (p = 0.009), brown (related to innate immunity and mitochondrial metabolism; p = 0.001), and turquoise (associated with energy metabolism and neurodegeneration; p = 0.005). Our findings highlight that gene expression regulation, immune response, and inflammation may be linked to SI in patients with MDD, while pathways associated with innate immunity, energy metabolism, mitochondrial function, and neurodegeneration appear to be more broadly related to MDD.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the correlations between CDC42 and T-cell subsets concerning anxiety, depression and quality of life in ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Methods: Sera from 156 participants were analyzed for CDC42 levels and Th1, Th2, Th17 and Treg cells. Results: CDC42 correlated with reduced Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg ratios, lower anxiety and depression, and higher EuroQol visual analog scale (EQ-VAS) score. The Th17/Treg ratio correlated with elevated anxiety, depression, EuroQol-5 dimensions score and decreased EQ-VAS score. The Th1/Th2 ratio was positively related to the EQ-VAS score. Conclusion: CDC42 correlates with reduced Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg ratios, reduced anxiety and depression, and improved quality of life in ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.

Abstract
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are noncoding molecules and are generated through back splicing, during which the 5' and 3' ends are covalently joined. Consequently, the lack of free ends makes them stable and resistant to exonucleases, and they become more suitable biomarkers than other noncoding RNAs. The aim of the study was to find an association between selected circRNAs and disease activity in patients with RA. A total of 71 subjects, 45 patients with RA and 26 healthy controls (HCs), were enrolled. In the RA group, 24 patients had high disease activity (DAS-28-ESR > 5.1) and 21 individuals were in remission (DAS-28-ESR ≤ 2.6). The cell line SW982 was used to evaluate the biological function of circ_0005567. The concentration of circ_0005567 in RA patients was elevated compared to HCs (median, 177.5 [lower-upper quartile, 83.13-234.6] vs. 97.83 [42.03-145.4], p = 0.017). Patients with high disease activity had a higher concentration of circ_0005567 than the control group (185.4 [112.72-249.25] vs. 97.83 [42.03-145.4], p = 0.015). In the cell line model, we found an association between circ_0005567 and miR-194-5p concentration and increased expression of mRNAs that may be related to cell proliferation. The plasma concentration of circ_0005567 may be a new potential biomarker associated with disease activity in patients with RA.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION An increasing number of studies indicate that the microbiota-gut-brain axis is an important pathway involved in the onset and progression of depression. The responses of the organism (or its microorganisms) to external cues cannot be separated from a key intermediate element: their metabolites. AREAS COVERED In recent years, with the rapid development of metabolomics, an increasing amount of metabolites has been detected and studied, especially the gut metabolites. Nevertheless, the increasing amount of metabolites described has not been reflected in a better understanding of their functions and metabolic pathways. Moreover, our knowledge of the biological interactions among metabolites is also incomplete, which limits further studies on the connections between the microbial-entero-brain axis and depression. EXPERT OPINION This paper summarizes the current knowledge on depression-related metabolites and their involvement in the onset and progression of this disease. More importantly, this paper summarized metabolites from the intestine, and defined them as enterogenic metabolites, to further clarify the function of intestinal metabolites and their biochemical cross-talk, providing theoretical support and new research directions for the prevention and treatment of depression.

Abstract
MicroRNAs are hidden players in complex psychophysical phenomena such as depression and anxiety related disorders though the activation and deactivation of multiple proteins in signaling cascades. Depression is classified as a mood disorder and described as feelings of sadness, loss, or anger that interfere with a person’s everyday activities. In this review, we have focused on exploration of the significant role of miRNAs in depression by affecting associated target proteins (cellular and synaptic) and their signaling pathways which can be controlled by the attachment of miRNAs at transcriptional and translational levels. Moreover, miRNAs have potential role as biomarkers and may help to cure depression through involvement and interactions with multiple pharmacological and physiological therapies. Taken together, miRNAs might be considered as promising novel therapy targets themselves and may interfere with currently available antidepressant treatments.
