[PMID: 39219863 PMCID: PMC11363828 DOI: 10.1016/j.jesf.2024.07.005] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/02/2024] [Revised: 07/30/2024] [Accepted: 07/30/2024] [Indexed: 09/04/2024] Open
Abstract
Background Numerous studies examining 24-h movement behaviours have been exponentially published globally. However, no comprehensive reviews summarized and synthesized the evidence on the Chinese population. This review aimed to map the most recent research state and fill the gaps related to 24-h movement behaviours in the Chinese population. Methods Five electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost, and CNKI (Chinese database)) were searched from their inceptions through October 2023. Quantitative studies published in English and/or Chinese were included if they were related to 24-h movement behaviours in the Chinese population. Results From 9431 documents screened, 53 met the inclusion criteria. All the included studies were published between 2019 and 2023, showing a notable increasing trend over the years. Most studies used cross-sectional designs (96.2 %) and self-reported measures (56.6 %). Nearly all the studies targeted general healthy population (96.2 %), especially children and adolescents (64.2 %). The main three research topics observed were health outcomes (81.1 %), prevalence (66.0 %), and correlates (15.1 %) of 24-h movement behaviours. Conclusion 24-h movement behaviours in the Chinese population has been an increasingly important research topic in the literature, with predominant focus on children and adolescents (study population), self-report measure (measurement), cross-sectional design (study design), guidelines adherence (study topic), and health outcomes examination (study topic). These findings delineate a research landscape in the Chinese population, and highlight the research gaps needed to be addressed. Future studies are suggested to target these research gaps, expanding evidence base for the Chinese populations. For instance, more studies using device-based measures, longitudinal or interventional designs, as well as qualitative and mixed-methods approaches are required.

Gao X, Cao L, Gu Q. Assessing the efficiency of China's national fitness public services: a super-efficiency DEA-Malmquist-Tobit approach. Front Public Health 2024; 12:1433337. [PMID: 39328996 PMCID: PMC11424459 DOI: 10.3389/fpubh.2024.1433337] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/15/2024] [Accepted: 08/30/2024] [Indexed: 09/28/2024] Open
Abstract
Introduction As the Chinese government places an increasing emphasis on public fitness services, there has been a concomitant growth in public demand for greater fiscal expenditure in this area. However, in light of the constrained growth in government financial resources, it is of paramount importance to allocate these resources in a rational manner in order to effectively address the public's fitness and health needs. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of public expenditure on national fitness services across China, thereby providing valuable insights for policymakers to optimize resource allocation and improve service efficiency. Methods The study employs a super-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model, in conjunction with the Malmquist Index and Tobit regression model, to assess the efficiency of fiscal spending on fitness services in 31 Chinese provinces from 2017 to 2020. The analysis employs both static and dynamic approaches to present an objective view of the development of public fitness service levels across different regions and to empirically identify the key factors influencing fiscal spending efficiency. Results The findings indicate substantial regional variations in the efficiency of fiscal expenditure on public fitness services. While some provinces demonstrate high efficiency in the use of public funds, others exhibit notable inefficiencies, particularly in areas with lower levels of economic development and population density. The findings underscore the existence of redundant expenditure and the varying effectiveness of resource utilization across provinces. Discussion The study recommends that future strategies prioritize the scientific planning of fiscal inputs into public fitness services, the precise optimization of expenditure structures, the exploration of collaborative supply mechanisms, the expansion of demand-driven feedback channels, the integration of technological innovations, and the acceleration of digitalization in public fitness services.

Xu P, Wang L, Li Y, Liu M. How do local government information sources affect the purchase willingness of low-carbon agricultural products? The example of regional brand agricultural products. Front Public Health 2023; 11:1169741. Abstract
IntroductionIn order to achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the agricultural sector has been given high priority to reduce carbon emissions. Since consumption is the ultimate goal of production, the consumption of low-carbon agricultural products is of great significance to promote the reduction of agricultural carbon emissions. Regional brand agricultural product is an important tool to promote the development of regional economy to “green, low-carbon, branded and high-quality”, and has the technical and institutional conditions to develop into low-carbon agricultural product, so this study takes regional brand agricultural products as the representative of low-carbon agricultural products. As a information source to guide the public to consume in the green and low-carbon way, local government can effectively develop the market for low-carbon agricultural products and drive the development of low-carbon agriculture from the demand side.MethodsBased on structural equation model with bootstrap method, this paper focuses on the mechanism of the influence of local government information source characteristics (credibility, professionalism, and attractiveness) on consumers' willingness to purchase low-carbon agricultural products, and explores the mediating role of perceived benefits and perceived risks.ResultsThe following findings are established: first, the credibility and professionalism of local governments play a positive role in influencing the purchase willingness of low-carbon agricultural products through perceived benefits, with credibility having the greatest degree of influence. Second, the attractiveness of local governments positively influences consumers' willingness to purchase low-carbon agricultural products through perceived risk. Third, perceived benefits play a fully mediating role between credibility and purchase intention, play a partially mediating role between professionalism and purchase willingness, perceived risks play a partially mediating role between attractiveness and purchase willingness.DiscussionThis study provides new ideas for the construction of low-carbon agricultural products and low-carbon development in the agricultural sector from the perspective of local government information sources.

Abstract
Particularly in the post-pandemic period, where public health emergencies offer a greater risk of supply disruptions, the operational hazards of pharmaceutical supply chains are uncertain. One of the main concerns for businesses is how to handle the risk of supply disruption and take the necessary precautions to lower the chance of loss. Pharmaceutical raw material suppliers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical institutions constitute a complete three-tiered supply chain. On the basis of this, in Materials and methods part, a share contract based on buyback proceeds is created as a result, and a combination contract based on centralized decision-making and decentralized decision-making is employed to maximize the order volume of pharmaceutical supply chain participants. An out-of-stock cost pharmaceutical supply chain model is created, and a related solution is provided and measurable examples. In Results and discussion part, to confirm the accuracy of the model and algorithm, numerical examples are employed. Buyback prices and order volumes were subjected to sensitivity analysis, and discussion is had over how various parameters affect a model's performance. Due to supply disruptions, the study's findings show that there is "double sourcing" between upstream pharmaceutical raw materials and downstream major suppliers, necessitating the establishment of a supply chain with numerous standby suppliers. At the same time, modifying the contract parameters can improve the supply motivation of backup suppliers and guarantee the profitability of downstream medical institutions.

Abstract
Investigating the relationship between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and impulsivity will benefit our understanding of the concept of problematic pornography use (PPU), and revealing predisposing and malleable moderators of PPU will be beneficial for its prevention and intervention. The current study not only aimed to observe these relationships, but also explored the potential moderating role of physical exercise in the general population. A total of 600 Chinese adults (Mage = 32.31, SDage = 12.40, 39.8% women) were recruited and completed an online survey. The results showed that participants with regular exercise scored lower than those without exercise on ADHD, impulsivity, and PPU (all ps < 0.001). Using latent moderated structural equations (LMS), the findings revealed that the relationship between ADHD symptoms and PPU was mediated by impulsivity, and physical exercise moderated this relationship (B = -0.14, p = 0.048). Specifically, when individuals' physical exercise was higher than 0.84 standard deviations above the mean, the positive predictive effect of impulsivity on PPU was not significant. These findings indicate the important role of impulsivity in the relationship between ADHD and PPU, and physical exercise could be a meaningful component of interventions among individuals experiencing PPU.

Abstract
Social change and development influence the motivational factors of people's sports participation, exposing the need for socialization and interaction. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction pattern of the urban running community and the behavior pattern of runners with the help of social interaction theory, and to explore the inner connection between their community movement and social interaction. Ten senior members of marathon urban running societies were selected to conduct two rounds of in-depth interviews which were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis to understand the sports participation experiences and social interactions of running society members. The study found that the whole interaction process of running groups is accomplished through three aspects: examination of self, adjustment with reference to others, and a sense of group belonging as the core consciousness. On the other hand, the social attributes of running groups can advance the personalization process of runners in society, which is mainly characterized by self-presentation and external constraints, self-requirement and group constraints, intergroup interaction and group identity reorganization. In addition, the unique community culture, standardized group organization and harmonious activity atmosphere will stimulate runners' interest in running, strengthen community communication and establish stable community relations, etc., which in turn will bring about continuous interactive behaviors.
