Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study investigated post COVID-19 outcomes of patients with pre-existing neurological conditions up to 3.5 years post-infection. METHODS This retrospective study consisted of 1664 patients with COVID-19 (of which 1320 had been hospitalized for acute COVID-19) and 8985 non-COVID patients from the Montefiore Health System in the Bronx (Jan-2016 to Jul-2023). Pre-existing neurological conditions include dementia, mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Primary outcomes were all-cause mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) post-COVID-19. Secondary outcomes were depression, anxiety, fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances, altered mental status, and dyspnea post-COVID-19. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards model was used to calculate adjusted hazard ratios for primary outcomes. Cumulative incidence function and Fine-Gray sub-distribution hazards model analysis were performed for secondary outcomes. RESULTS Patients with a pre-existing neurological disorders hospitalized for COVID-19 were more likely to die (adjusted hazard ratio = 1.90 [CI:1.57, 2.28], P < 0.005) whereas patients non-hospitalized for COVID-19 had similar mortality rate (aHR = 0.85 [CI:0.47, 1.54]. P = 0.59) compared to non-COVID patients. Patients with a neurological disorders (hospitalized for COVID-19 aHR = 1.76 [CI:1.53, 2.03], P < 0.005; not hospitalized for COVID-19: aHR = 1.50 [CI:1.09, 2.05], P = 0.01) were more likely to experience a MACE compared to non-COVID-19 patients. Blacks (aHR = 1.49) and Hispanics (aHR = 1.35) had a higher risk of post-COVID-19 MACE. Both hospitalized and non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients were more likely to develop altered mental status, fatigue, sleep disturbance, dyspnea compared to non-COVID patients (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Patients with pre-existing neurological conditions who contracted SARS-CoV-2 were more likely to have worse outcomes compared to controls after adjusting for major competing risks. Identifying at-risk individuals could enable more diligent follow-up.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A few studies have reported conjunctivitis is a complication associated with acute COVID-19. It is unknown whether SARS-CoV-2 infection increases the risk of conjunctivitis post-COVID-19 long term. OBJECTIVES This study investigated the incidence of new-onset conjunctivitis 3.5 years post SARS-CoV-2 infection and compared it with patients without SARS-CoV-2 infection. METHODS This retrospective study consisted of 67 702 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 (defined by a positive PCR test), and 1 391 135 COVID-19-negative patients with no prior records of conjunctivitis in the Montefiore Health System from 11 March 2020 to 31 December 2022. The study included adult patients re-presenting to our centre with conjunctivitis. Outcome was new conjunctivitis between 14 days and 3.5 years post index date. Analysis was performed with unmatched and matched cohorts. Matching was done for age, sex, race and ethnicity. Cumulative incidence and hazard ratio (HR) with and without adjustment for competitive risks were analysed. RESULTS There were 1154 (2.27%) individuals with COVID-19 and contemporary 13 899 (1.57%) controls who developed new conjunctivitis. COVID-19-positive patients had a significantly higher risk of developing new incident conjunctivitis (unmatched cohort adjusted HR 1.11 (95% CI 1.04 to 1.17), matched cohort adjusted HR 1.10 (95% CI 1.02 to 1.16)) compared with COVID-19-negative patients. CONCLUSIONS COVID-19-positive patients had significantly higher risk of developing new conjunctivitis compared with contemporary COVID-19-negative controls. Identifying risk factors for developing new-onset conjunctivitis may draw clinical attention for careful follow-up in at-risk individuals for ocular infections.

Abstract
BACKGROUND COVID-19 pandemic-related disruptions of mammography screening, breast cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment options are not well understood with respect to social determinants of health, especially three years post-pandemic. METHODS This retrospective observational study included patients screened by mammography or diagnosed with breast cancer from January 2019 to February 2023 in the urban population in the Bronx. RESULTS Screening and diagnostic mammography, and breast cancer diagnoses from April to August 2020 dropped by 61%, 47%, and 42%, respectively, compared to pre-pandemic (Jan 2019-Mar 2020) and largely recovered by September 2020. Compared to pre-pandemic baseline, patients diagnosed with breast cancer from September 2020 to January 2021 were 1.48 times (95% CI [1.03, 2.13]) more likely to present with clinical stage 2-4, and 1.47 [1.04-2.08] times more likely to present with T stage 2-4. Black patients experienced a more significant increase in odds of presenting with clinical stage 2-4 (4.41 [1.36, 14.24]) and nodal involvement (4.61 [1.27, 16.82]) compared to non-Hispanic Whites from Apr 2020 to Jan 2021. CONCLUSION Interruption of breast cancer screening during the pandemic coincided with increased proportions of patients presenting with more advanced disease, especially among Black patients. The results underscore the need for targeted public health interventions to address health disparities among these populations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Patients with pre-existing Parkinson's disease (PD) face higher risks of severe acute COVID-19 outcomes than matched controls, but long-term post-COVID-19 outcomes remain largely unknown. This study investigated clinical outcomes up to 3.5 years post-infection in a Bronx inner-city PD population. METHODS This retrospective study evaluated 3512 patients with PD in the Montefiore Health System (January 2016-July 2023), which serves a large diverse population and was an epicenter of the early COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent infection surges. Comparisons were made with PD patients without a positive SARS-CoV-2 test (defined by polymerase chain reaction test). Outcomes were post-index date all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), altered mental status, fatigue, dyspnea, headache, psychosis, dementia, depression, anxiety, dysphagia, falls, and orthostatic hypotension. Changes in Levodopa prescriptions were also tabulated. Adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) were computed accounting for competing risks. RESULTS PD patients with COVID-19 had similar demographics but a higher prevalence of pre-existing comorbidities compared to PD patients without COVID-19. PD patients with COVID-19 had greater risk of mortality (aHR = 1.58 [95% CI: 1.03, 2.41]), MACE (aHR = 1.57 [1.19, 2.07]), dyspnea, fatigue, and fall compared to PD patients without COVID-19. Levodopa dose adjustment was higher post-infection in the COVID-19 cohort. CONCLUSIONS Among PD patients, COVID-19 was associated with a higher risk of adverse long-term outcomes. PD patients who survive COVID-19 may benefit from heightened clinical awareness and close follow-up. Findings highlight the need to improve post-COVID care for PD patients to mitigate disease progression and maintain quality of life.

Abstract
We investigated the long-term kidney and cardiovascular outcomes of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) after COVID-19. Our retrospective cohort consisted of 834 CKD patients with COVID-19 and 6,167 CKD patients without COVID-19 between 3/11/2020 to 7/1/2023. Multivariate competing risk regression models were used to estimate risk (as adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI)) of CKD progression to a more advanced stage (Stage 4 or 5) and major adverse kidney events (MAKE), and risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 6-, 12-, and 24-month follow up. Hospitalized COVID-19 patients at 12 and 24 months (aHR 1.62 95% CI[1.24,2.13] and 1.76 [1.30, 2.40], respectively), but not non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients, were at higher risk of CKD progression compared to those without COVID-19. Both hospitalized and non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients were at higher risk of MAKE at 6-, 12- and 24-months compared to those without COVID-19. Hospitalized COVID-19 patients at 6-, 12- and 24-months (aHR 1.73 [1.21, 2.50], 1.77 [1.34, 2.33], and 1.31 [1.05, 1.64], respectively), but not non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients, were at higher risk of MACE compared to those without COVID-19. COVID-19 increases the risk of long-term CKD progression and cardiovascular events in patients with CKD. These findings highlight the need for close follow up care and therapies that slow CKD progression in this high-risk subgroup.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although COVID-19 has been linked to worse acute outcomes in patients with some neurodegenerative disorders, its long-term impact on dementia remains unclear. OBJECTIVE To investigate the outcomes of COVID-19 survivors with dementia. METHODS This retrospective study evaluated 9806 patients with dementia in the Montefiore Health System (January 2016 to July 2023). Comparisons were made between dementia patients with and without a positive SARS-CoV-2 polymerase-chain-reaction test who had a follow-up at least two weeks post-infection. Outcomes included all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), new-onset dysphagia, dyspnea, fatigue, new-onset sleep disturbances, altered mental status, first-time fall, headache, new-onset depression, and new-onset anxiety. Adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) were computed adjusting for age, sex, race, ethnicity, and pre-existing comorbidities. RESULTS Dementia patients with COVID-19 were younger, more likely to be male, and had a higher prevalence of major pre-existing comorbidities compared to those without COVID-19. Patients who survived acute COVID-19 were more likely to die than non-COVID controls after adjusting for covariates (aHR = 1.65 [1.43, 1.91]). COVID-19 was significantly associated with higher risk of MACE (aHR = 1.58 [1.41, 1.78]), new-onset dysphagia (aHR = 1.64 [1.42, 1.91]), dyspnea (aHR = 1.27 [1.12, 1.44]), fatigue (aHR = 1.42 [1.22, 1.65]), new-onset sleep disturbances (aHR = 1.36 [1.15, 1.60]), altered mental status (aHR = 1.36 [1.16, 1.59]), and first-time fall (aHR = 1.34 [1.09, 1.65]). CONCLUSIONS COVID-19 increases the risk of mortality and other adverse health outcomes in dementia patients. These findings highlight the need for closer follow-up and management strategies for dementia patients post-COVID-19.

Abstract
This study examined the incidence, characteristics, and risk factors of new gastrointestinal disorders (GID) associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection up to 3.5 years post-infection. This retrospective study included 35,102 COVID-19 patients and 682,594 contemporary non-COVID-19 patients without past medical history of GID (controls) from the Montefiore Health System in the Bronx (3/1/2020 to 7/31/2023). Comparisons were made with unmatched and propensity-matched (1:2) controls. The primary outcome was new GID which included peptic ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, diverticulitis, and biliary disease. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards model analysis was performed with adjustment for covariates. There were 2,228 (6.34%) COVID-19 positive patients who developed new GID compared to 38,928 (5.70%) controls. COVID-19 patients had an elevated risk of developing new GID (adjusted HR = 1.18 (95% CI 1.12-1.25) compared to propensity-matched controls, after adjusting for confounders that included smoking, obesity, diabetes, hypertension. These findings underscore the need for additional research and follow-up of at-risk individuals for developing GID post infection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Although COVID-19 has been linked to worse outcomes in patients with neurological disorders, its impact on those with essential tremor (ET) remains unclear. To investigate clinical outcomes of ET patients with and without COVID-19 three and a half years post-pandemic. METHODS 1074 ET patients were evaluated in this retrospective study in the Montefiore Health System from January 2016 to July 2023. Comparisons between ET patients with and without a positive SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction test were made. Outcomes included post-index date major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), new-onset sleep disturbances, fatigue, dyspnea, first-time fall, new-onset anxiety, new-onset depression, headache, new-onset imbalance, new-onset mild cognitive impairment, and all-cause mortality, adjusted hazard ratios (aHR) adjusting for covariates were calculated. RESULTS ET patients with COVID-19 had higher prevalence of pre-existing type-2 diabetes, depression, and anxiety compared to ET patients without COVID-19. COVID-19 was significantly associated with higher risk of MACEs, (aHR = 2.39 [1.49, 3.82]), new-onset sleep disturbance, (aHR = 2.12 [1.44, 3.13]), fatigue, (aHR = 1.83 [1.27, 2.65]), dyspnea, (aHR = 1.98 [1.40, 2.80]), first-time fall, (aHR = 4.76 [2.24, 10.14]), new-onset anxiety, (aHR = 3.66 [2.02, 6.64]), and new-onset depression, (aHR = 2.38 [1.20, 4.70]). COVID-19 was not associated with all-cause mortality. CONCLUSIONS In patients with ET, COVID-19 significantly increases the risk of several long-term adverse health outcomes, but not mortality.

Abstract
Background During the COVID-19 pandemic a need to process large volumes of publications emerged. As the pandemic is winding down, the clinicians encountered a novel syndrome - Post-acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) - that affects over 10 % of those who contract SARS-CoV-2 and presents a significant challenge in the medical field. The continuous influx of publications underscores a need for efficient tools for navigating the literature. Objectives We aimed to develop an application which will allow monitoring and categorizing COVID-19-related literature through building publication networks and medical subject headings (MeSH) maps to identify key publications and networks. Methods We introduce CORACLE (COVID-19 liteRAture CompiLEr), an innovative web application designed to analyse COVID-19-related scientific articles and to identify research trends. CORACLE features three primary interfaces: The "Search" interface, which displays research trends and citation links; the "Citation Map" interface, allowing users to create tailored citation networks from PubMed Identifiers (PMIDs) to uncover common references among selected articles; and the "MeSH" interface, highlighting current MeSH trends and their associations. Results CORACLE leverages PubMed data to categorize literature on COVID-19 and PASC, aiding in the identification of relevant research publication hubs. Using lung function in PASC patients as a search example, we demonstrate how to identify and visualize the interactions between the relevant publications. Conclusion CORACLE is an effective tool for the extraction and analysis of literature. Its functionalities, including the MeSH trends and customizable citation mapping, facilitate the discovery of emerging trends in COVID-19 and PASC research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although certain subsets patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), an immune-mediated disorder, are at higher risk of worse acute COVID-19 outcomes compared to the general population, it is not clear whether SARS-CoV-2 infection impacts long-term outcomes compared with MS patients without COVID-19 infection. OBJECTIVES This study investigated MS disease activity and mortality 3.5 years post SARS-CoV-2 infection and compared with MS patients without COVID-19. METHODS This retrospective study evaluated 1,633 patients with MS in the Montefiore Health System in the Bronx from January 2016 to July 2023. This health system serves a large minority population and was an epicenter for the early pandemic and subsequent surges of infection. Positive SARS-CoV-2 infection was determined by a positive polymerase-chain-reaction test. Primary outcomes were all-cause mortality, and optic neuritis post SARS-CoV-2 infection. Secondary outcomes included change in disease-modifying therapy (DMT), treatment with high-dose methylprednisolone, cerebellar deficits, relapse, and all-cause hospitalization post-infection. RESULTS MS patients with COVID-19 had similar demographics but higher prevalence of pre-existing major comorbidities (hypertension, type-2 diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and coronary artery disease), optic neuritis, and history of high dose steroid treatment for relapses compared to MS patients without COVID-19. MS patients with COVID-19 had greater risk of mortality (adjusted HR=4.34[1.67, 11.30], p < 0.005), greater risk of post infection optic neuritis (adjusted HR=2.97[1.58, 5.58], p < 0.005), higher incidence of methylprednisolone treatment for post infection acute relapse (12.65% vs. 2.54 %, p < 0.001), and more hospitalization (78.92% vs. 66.81 %, p < 0.01), compared to MS patients without COVID-19. CONCLUSIONS MS patients who survived COVID-19 infection experienced worse long-term outcomes, as measured by treatment for relapse, hospitalization and mortality. Identifying risk factors for worse long-term outcomes may draw clinical attention to the need for careful follow-up of at-risk individuals post-SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Abstract
This study investigated long COVID of patients in the Montefiore Health System COVID-19 (CORE) Clinics in the Bronx with an emphasis on identifying health related social needs (HRSNs). We analyzed a cohort of 643 CORE patients (6/26/2020-2/24/2023) and 52,089 non-CORE COVID-19 patients. Outcomes included symptoms, physical, emotional, and cognitive function test scores obtained at least three months post-infection. Socioeconomic variables included median incomes, insurance status, and HRSNs. The CORE cohort was older age (53.38 ± 14.50 vs. 45.91 ± 23.79 years old, p < 0.001), more female (72.47% vs. 56.86%, p < 0.001), had higher prevalence of hypertension (45.88% vs. 23.28%, p < 0.001), diabetes (22.86% vs. 13.83%, p < 0.001), COPD (7.15% vs. 2.28%, p < 0.001), asthma (25.51% vs. 12.66%, p < 0.001), lower incomes (53.81% vs. 43.67%, 1st quintile, p < 0.001), and more unmet social needs (29.81% vs. 18.49%, p < 0.001) compared to non-CORE COVID-19 survivors. CORE patients reported a wide range of severe long-COVID symptoms. CORE patients with unmet HRSNs experienced more severe symptoms, worse ESAS-r scores (tiredness, wellbeing, shortness of breath, and pain), PHQ-9 scores (12.5 (6, 17.75) vs. 7 (2, 12), p < 0.001), and GAD-7 scores (8.5 (3, 15) vs. 4 (0, 9), p < 0.001) compared to CORE patients without. Patients with unmet HRSNs experienced worse long-COVID outcomes compared to those without.

Abstract
Aims To describe pulmonary function 3-6 months following acute COVID-19, to evaluate potential predictors of decreased pulmonary function and to review literature for the effect of COVID-19 on pulmonary function. Materials and methods A systematic review and cohort study were conducted. Within the P4O2 COVID-19 cohort, 95 patients aged 40-65 years were recruited from outpatient post-COVID-19 clinics in five Dutch hospitals between May 2021-September 2022. At 3-6 months post COVID-19, medical records data and biological samples were collected and questionnaires were administered. In addition, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), including spirometry and transfer factor, were performed. To identify factors associated with PFTs, linear regression analyses were conducted, adjusted for covariates. Results In PFTs (n = 90), mean ± SD % of predicted was 89.7 ± 18.2 for forced vital capacity (FVC) and 79.8 ± 20.0 for transfer factor for carbon monoxide (DLCO). FVC was Conclusion A low DLCO 3-6 months following acute COVID-19 was observed more often than a low FVC, both in the P4O2 COVID-19 study and the literature review.

Abstract
While ground-glass opacity, consolidation, and fibrosis in the lungs are some of the hallmarks of acute SAR-CoV-2 infection, it remains unclear whether these pulmonary radiological findings would resolve after acute symptoms have subsided. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate chest computed tomography (CT) abnormalities stratified by COVID-19 disease severity and multiple timepoints post-infection. PubMed/MEDLINE was searched for relevant articles until 23 May 2023. Studies with COVID-19-recovered patients and follow-up chest CT at least 12 months post-infection were included. CT findings were evaluated at short-term (1-6 months) and long-term (12-24 months) follow-ups and by disease severity (severe and non-severe). A generalized linear mixed-effects model with random effects was used to estimate event rates for CT findings. A total of 2517 studies were identified, of which 43 met the inclusion (N = 8858 patients). Fibrotic-like changes had the highest event rate at short-term (0.44 [0.3-0.59]) and long-term (0.38 [0.23-0.56]) follow-ups. A meta-regression showed that over time the event rates decreased for any abnormality (β = -0.137, p = 0.002), ground-glass opacities (β = -0.169, p < 0.001), increased for honeycombing (β = 0.075, p = 0.03), and did not change for fibrotic-like changes, bronchiectasis, reticulation, and interlobular septal thickening (p > 0.05 for all). The severe subgroup had significantly higher rates of any abnormalities (p < 0.001), bronchiectasis (p = 0.02), fibrotic-like changes (p = 0.03), and reticulation (p < 0.001) at long-term follow-ups when compared to the non-severe subgroup. In conclusion, significant CT abnormalities remained up to 2 years post-COVID-19, especially in patients with severe disease. Long-lasting pulmonary abnormalities post-SARS-CoV-2 infection signal a future public health concern, necessitating extended monitoring, rehabilitation, survivor support, vaccination, and ongoing research for targeted therapies.

Abstract
Introduction Neurocognitive symptoms and dysfunction of various severities have become increasingly recognized as potential consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although there are numerous observational and subjective survey-reporting studies of neurological symptoms, by contrast, those studies describing imaging abnormalities are fewer in number. Methods This study conducted a metanalysis of 32 studies to determine the incidence of the common neurological abnormalities using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with COVID-19. Results We also present the common clinical findings associated with MRI abnormalities. We report the incidence of any MRI abnormality to be 55% in COVID-19 patients with perfusion abnormalities (53%) and SWI abnormalities (44%) being the most commonly reported injuries. Cognitive impairment, ICU admission and/or mechanical ventilation status, older age, and hospitalization or longer length of hospital stay were the most common clinical findings associated with brain injury in COVID-19 patients. Discussion Overall, the presentation of brain injury in this study was diverse with no substantial pattern of injury emerging, yet most injuries appear to be of vascular origin. Moreover, analysis of the association between MRI abnormalities and clinical findings suggests that there are likely many mechanisms, both direct and indirect, by which brain injury occurs in COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study investigated whether patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) had elevated risk of worse long-term clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization 2.5 years post-SARS-CoV-2 infection. METHODS This study consisted of 178 patients with SCD who tested positive for COVID-19 between February 1, 2020 and January 30, 2022 in a major academic health system in New York City. The control cohort consisted of two-to-one matches of 356 SCD patients without a COVID-19 positive test. The last follow-up was July 18, 2022. The primary outcome was mortality. Secondary outcomes were annualized emergency department visits due to pain, pain hospital admission, length of stay due to pain, acute chest syndrome, episodic transfusion, and episodic exchange transfusion. RESULTS There was no significant difference in mortality between SCD patients with and without COVID-19 (p > .05). There were no significant differences in secondary outcomes between pre- and postpandemic (p > .05). There were also no significant differences in these outcomes between SCD patients with and without COVID-19 (p > .05). SCD care utilization was not significantly associated with COVID-19 hospitalization status (p > .05). CONCLUSIONS SCD patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection incurred no additional risk of worse long-term outcomes compared to matched controls of SCD patients not infected by SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract
BACKGROUND SARS-CoV-2 may trigger new-onset persistent hypertension. This study investigated the incidence and risk factors associated with new-onset persistent hypertension during COVID-19 hospitalization and at ≈6-month follow-up compared with influenza. METHODS This retrospective observational study was conducted in a major academic health system in New York City. Participants included 45 398 patients with COVID-19 (March 2020 to August 2022) and 13 864 influenza patients (January 2018 to August 2022) without a history of hypertension. RESULTS At 6-month follow-up, new-onset persistent hypertension was seen in 20.6% of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and 10.85% of nonhospitalized patients with COVID-19. Persistent hypertension incidence among hospitalized patients did not vary across the pandemic, whereas that of hospitalized patients decreased from 20% in March 2020 to ≈10% in October 2020 (R2=0.79, P=0.003) and then plateaued thereafter. Hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were 2.23 ([95% CI, 1.48-3.54]; P<0.001) times and nonhospitalized patients with COVID-19 were 1.52 ([95% CI, 1.22-1.90]; P<0.01) times more likely to develop persistent hypertension than influenza counterparts. Persistent hypertension was more common among older adults, males, Black, patients with preexisting comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease), and those who were treated with pressor and corticosteroid medications. Mathematical models predicted persistent hypertension with 79% to 86% accuracy. In addition, 21.0% of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 with no prior hypertension developed hypertension during COVID-19 hospitalization. CONCLUSIONS Incidence of new-onset persistent hypertension in patients with COVID-19 is higher than those with influenza, likely constituting a major health burden given the sheer number of patients with COVID-19. Screening at-risk patients for hypertension following COVID-19 illness may be warranted.

Abstract
Background: This study evaluated the temporal characteristics of lung chest X-ray (CXR) scores in COVID-19 patients during hospitalization and how they relate to other clinical variables and outcomes (alive or dead). Methods: This is a retrospective study of COVID-19 patients. CXR scores of disease severity were analyzed for: (i) survivors (N = 224) versus non-survivors (N = 28) in the general floor group, and (ii) survivors (N = 92) versus non-survivors (N = 56) in the invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) group. Unpaired t-tests were used to compare survivors and non-survivors and between time points. Comparison across multiple time points used repeated measures ANOVA and corrected for multiple comparisons. Results: For general-floor patients, non-survivor CXR scores were significantly worse at admission compared to those of survivors (p < 0.05), and non-survivor CXR scores deteriorated at outcome (p < 0.05) whereas survivor CXR scores did not (p > 0.05). For IMV patients, survivor and non-survivor CXR scores were similar at intubation (p > 0.05), and both improved at outcome (p < 0.05), with survivor scores showing greater improvement (p < 0.05). Hospitalization and IMV duration were not different between groups (p > 0.05). CXR scores were significantly correlated with lactate dehydrogenase, respiratory rate, D-dimer, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, ferritin, SpO2, and lymphocyte count (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Longitudinal CXR scores have the potential to provide prognosis, guide treatment, and monitor disease progression.
