Noise Reduction Method of Underwater Acoustic Signals Based on Uniform Phase Empirical Mode Decomposition, Amplitude-Aware Permutation Entropy, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient

Identification of hub cuproptosis related genes and immune cell infiltration characteristics in periodontitis

Introduction

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease and its molecular mechanisms is not clear. A recently discovered cell death pathway called cuproptosis, may related to the disease.

Methods

The datasets GSE10334 of human periodontitis and control were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus database (GEO) for analysis.Following the use of two machine learning algorithms, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and support vector machine-recursive feature removal (SVM-RFE) were used to find CRG-based signature. Then the Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves was used to evaluate the gene signature's discriminatory ability. The CIBERSORT deconvolution algorithm was used to study the link between hub genes and distinct types of immune cells. Next, the association of the CRGs with immune cells in periodontitis and relevant clusters of cuproptosis were found. The link between various clusters was ascertained by the GSVA and CIBERSORT deconvolution algorithm. Finally, An external dataset (GSE16134) was used to confirm the diagnosis capacity of the identified biomarkers. In addition, clinical samples were examined using qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry to verifiy the expression of genes related to cuprotosis in periodontitis and the signature may better predict the periodontitis.

Results

15 periodontitis-related DE-CRGs were found,then 11-CRG-based signature was found by using of LASSO and SVM-RFE. ROC curves also supported the value of signature. CIBERSORT results of immune cell signature in periodontitis showed that signature genes is a crucial component of the immune response.The relevant clusters of cuproptosis found that the NFE2L2, SLC31A1, FDX1,LIAS, DLD, DLAT, and DBT showed a highest expression levels in Cluster2 ,while the NLRP3, MTF1, and DLST displayed the lowest level in Cluster 2 but the highest level in Cluster1. The GSVA results also showed that the 11 cuproptosis diagnostic gene may regulate the periodontitis by affecting immune cells. The external dataset (GSE16134) confirm the diagnosis capacity of the identified biomarkers, and clinical samples examined by qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry also verified that these cuprotosis related signiture genes in periodontitis may better predict the periodontitis.

Conclusion

These findings have important implications for the cuproptosis and periodontitis, and highlight further research is needed to better understand the mechanisms underlying this relationship between the cuproptosis and periodontitis.

A Denoising Method for Fiber Optic Gyroscope Based on Variational Mode Decomposition and Beetle Swarm Antenna Search Algorithm

Fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is one of the important components of Inertial Navigation Systems (INS). In order to improve the accuracy of the INS, it is necessary to suppress the random error of the FOG signal. In this paper, a variational mode decomposition (VMD) denoising method based on beetle swarm antenna search (BSAS) algorithm is proposed to reduce the noise in FOG signal. Firstly, the BSAS algorithm is introduced in detail. Then, the permutation entropy of the band-limited intrinsic mode functions (BLIMFs) is taken as the optimization index, and two key parameters of VMD algorithm, including decomposition mode number K and quadratic penalty factor α , are optimized by using the BSAS algorithm. Next, a new method based on Hausdorff distance (HD) between the probability density function (PDF) of all BLIMFs and that of the original signal is proposed in this paper to determine the relevant modes. Finally, the selected BLIMF components are reconstructed to get the denoised signal. In addition, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme is better than the existing schemes in terms of noise reduction performance. Two experiments further demonstrate the priority of the proposed scheme in the FOG noise reduction compared with other schemes.

A Denoising Method of Ship Radiated Noise Signal Based on Modified CEEMDAN, Dispersion Entropy, and Interval Thresholding

Due to the non-linear and non-stationary characteristics of ship radiated noise (SR-N) signal, the traditional linear and frequency-domain denoising methods cannot be used for such signals. In this paper, an SR-N signal denoising method based on modified complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EMD) with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN), dispersion entropy (DE), and interval thresholding is proposed. The proposed denoising method has the following advantages: (1) as an improved version of CEEMDAN, modified CEEMDAN (MCEEMDAN) combines the advantages of EMD and CEEMDAN, and it is more reliable than CEEMDAN and has less consuming time; (2) as a fast complexity measurement technology, DE can effectively identify the type of intrinsic mode function (IMF); and (3) interval thresholding is used for SR-N signal denoising, which avoids loss of amplitude information compared with traditional denoising methods. Firstly, the original signal is decomposed into a series of IMFs using MCEEMDAN. According to the DE value of IMF, the modes are divided into three types: noise IMF, noise-dominated IMF and pure IMF. After noise IMFs are removed, the noise-dominated IMFs are denoised using interval thresholding. Finally, the pure IMF and the processed noise-dominated IMFs are reconstructed to obtain the final denoised signal. The denoising experiments with the Chen’s chaotic system show that the proposed method has a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than the other three methods. Applying the proposed method to denoise the real SR-N signal, the topological structure of chaotic attractor can be recovered clearly. It is proved that the proposed method can effectively suppress the high-frequency noise of SR-N signal.

Feature Extraction of Ship-Radiated Noise Based on Regenerated Phase-Shifted Sinusoid-Assisted EMD, Mutual Information, and Differential Symbolic Entropy

To improve the recognition accuracy of ship-radiated noise, a feature extraction method based on regenerated phase-shifted sinusoid-assisted empirical mode decomposition (RPSEMD), mutual information (MI), and differential symbolic entropy (DSE) is proposed in this paper. RPSEMD is an improved empirical mode decomposition (EMD) that alleviates the mode mixing problem of EMD. DSE is a new tool to quantify the complexity of nonlinear time series. It not only has high computational efficiency, but also can measure the nonlinear complexity of short time series. Firstly, the ship-radiated noise is decomposed into a series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) by RPSEMD, and the DSE of each IMF is calculated. Then, the MI between each IMF and the original signal is calculated; the sum of MIs is taken as the denominator; and each normalized MI (norMI) is obtained. Finally, each norMI is used as the weight coefficient to weight the corresponding DSE, and the weighted DSE (WDSE) is obtained. The WDSEs are sent into the support vector machine (SVM) classifier to classify and recognize three types of ship-radiated noise. The experimental results demonstrate that the recognition rate of the proposed method reaches 98.3333%. Consequently, the proposed WDSE method can effectively achieve the classification of ships.
