Abstract
Combining nanoselenium (nano-Se) and melatonin (MT) was more effective than treatment alone against abiotic stress. However, their combined application mitigated the toxic effects of bensulfuron methyl, and enhanced wheat growth and metabolism has not been studied. Metabolomics and proteomics revealed that combining nano-Se and MT markedly activated phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathways, elevating the flavonoid (quercetin by 33.5 and 39.8%) and phenolic acid (vanillic acid by 38.8 and 48.7%) levels in leaves and roots of wheat plants. Interstingly, beneficial rhizosphere bacteria in their combination increased (Oxalobacteraceae, Nocardioidaceae, and Xanthomonadaceae), which positively correlated with the enhancement of soil urease and fluorescein diacetate enzyme activity (27.0 and 26.9%) and the allelopathic substance levels. To summarize, nano-Se and MT mitigate the adverse effects of bensulfuron methyl by facilitating interactions between the phenylpropane metabolism of the plant and the beneficial microbial community. The findings provide a theoretical basis for using nano-Se and MT to remediate herbicide-contaminated soil.

Abstract
To clarify the residue behavior and possible dietary risk of abamectin in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria, a method was developed for the simultaneous determination of abamectin residues in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria by QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, safe) ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The mean recovery of abamectin in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria was 86.48%-107.80%, and the relative standard deviation was 2.07%-10.12%. The detection rates of abamectin residues in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria were 62.50%, 87.50%, and 80.00%, respectively. The residues of abamectin in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria were not more than 0.020, 0.019, and 0.087 mg/kg, respectively. Based on these results, dietary risk assessment showed that the risk content of abamectin residues in long- and short-term dietary exposure for Chinese consumers was 61.57% and 0.41%-1.11%, respectively, indicating that abamectin in fresh corn, bitter melon, and Fritillaria in the market would not pose a significant risk to consumers.

Abstract
Few studies have been conducted to investigate the impact of pesticides on the secondary metabolism of traditional Chinese medicine and strategies to mitigate the toxicity of pesticide-induced oxidative stress. The current study focuses on evaluating the potential impacts of nano selenium (NSe) and imidacloprid (IMI) on the quality, physiological biochemistry, and secondary metabolites in Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. (P. frutescens). The study utilized metabolome analysis to explore the toxicity mechanism of IMI. The study noted that IMI-induced stress could emerge with detrimental effects by targeting the destruction of the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway. IMI-induced phenylpropanoid metabolism disorder resulted in an 8%, 17%, 25%, 10%, 65%, and 29% reduction in phenylalanine, coniferyl aldehyde, ferulic acid, cafestol, p-coumaraldehyde, and p-coumaric acid levels, respectively. Under the treatment of exogenous NSe, the levels of these metabolites were increased by 16%, 32%, 22%, 22%, 92%, and 29%, respectively. The application of exogenous NSe increased the levels of these metabolites and improved the biochemical disorder and quality of P. frutescens leaves by optimizing the phenylpropanoid metabolic pathway and enhancing the antioxidant system. Overall, the results suggest that foliar application of NSe could alleviate the oxidative stress toxicity induced by IMI and improve the quality of P. frutescens.

Physiological and Biochemical Variations in Celery by Imidacloprid and Fenpyroximate. APPLIED SCIENCES-BASEL 2022. Abstract
Pesticides are one of the abiotic stresses that have had an impact on the quality of agricultural products, especially in China. This study was the first to explore the soluble protein (SP) accumulation, peroxidase (POD) activity, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity variations in the stem and leaf of celery plants in the field after 2 h, 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 14, 21, 28-day of spraying imidacloprid (IMI) and fenpyroximate (FEN) at various doses. The findings demonstrated that there was no notable difference in ultimate residues between 1 F and 10 F, and even with the 10 F treatment, the residues were not a concern. The SP accumulation alterations were mainly provoked by residues, which dramatically boosted in stem and eventually declined in leaf. The POD activity in celery was a dynamic process with a marked shift (enhanced and declined) when compared with non-pesticide treatment after 28 days. The field trial exhibited that the SOD was principally positioned in leaf whether pesticides were applied or not, which might be due to the distinctive structure of the celery leaf compared with the stem. No obvious linear relation between application dose and SOD activity was observed.

Abstract
The demand for Chinese chives is growing as they are also rich in vitamins, fiber, and sulfur nutrients. Chinese chives should be sprayed with imidacloprid to control pests and diseases to safeguard their yield and to meet the demands of East Asian consumers for Chinese chives. Overspraying of imidacloprid can lead to residues in Chinese chives, posing a severe risk to human health. To reduce the harmful effects of imidacloprid residues on humans, we investigated the imidacloprid dissipation pattern and the final residue on Chinese chives using the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) method combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Good linearity (R2= 0.9988), accuracy (expressed as recovery % of 78.34–91.17%), precision [expressed as relative SDs (RSDs) of 0.48–6.43%], and sensitivity [a limit of quantification (LOQ) ≤ 8.07 × 104 mg/kg] were achieved. The dissipation dynamics were consistent with the first-order kinetics, with a half-life of 2.92 days. The final residual levels on Chinese chives were 0.00923–0.166 mg/kg, which is lower than the maximum residue limits (MRLs) of 1 mg/kg for imidacloprid on Chinese chives. A risk assessment index of <1 indicates that Chinese chives are safe for consumption.
