Abstract
Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a prevalent and debilitating complication of diabetes mellitus, significantly impacting patient quality of life and contributing to morbidity and mortality. Affecting approximately 50% of patients with diabetes, DN is predominantly characterized by distal symmetric polyneuropathy, leading to sensory loss, pain, and motor dysfunction, often resulting in diabetic foot ulcers and lower-limb amputations. The pathogenesis of DN is multifaceted, involving hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammation, which collectively damage peripheral nerves. Despite extensive research, disease-modifying treatments remain elusive, with current management primarily focusing on symptom control. This review explores the complex mechanisms underlying DN and highlights recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Emerging insights into the molecular and cellular pathways have unveiled potential targets for intervention, including neuroprotective agents, gene and stem cell therapies, and innovative pharmacological approaches. Additionally, novel diagnostic tools, such as corneal confocal microscopy and biomarker-based tests, have improved early detection and intervention. Lifestyle modifications and multidisciplinary care strategies can enhance patient outcomes. While significant progress has been made, further research is required to develop therapies that can effectively halt or reverse disease progression, ultimately improving the lives of individuals with DN. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current understanding and future directions in DN research and management.

Abstract
Sexual dysfunction is a common but underestimated disorder of diabetic patients of both genders, entailing specific and complex pathogenesis and severely affecting reproductive health and quality of life. Hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hypertension, obesity, aging, and psychological factors underlie its pathogenesis. A large body of evidence indicates that advanced glycation end products and oxidative stress have a distinct impact on the pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications, including hypogonadism, which is closely related to sexual dysfunction. Advanced glycation end products seem to affect sexual function either directly by accumulation in various regions of the reproductive system and/or correlation or indirectly through oxidative stress induction via several mechanisms. They are also involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications, which are related to sexual dysfunction. Herein, we review the issue of sexual dysfunction in diabetic males and females, with special emphasis on the impact of advanced glycation end products in the pathogenesis of sexual dysfunction, the relationship of advanced glycation end products with low testosterone levels in diabetic subjects, which account for the proportion of disorder and the available therapeutic interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sexual life is very important for people's physical health, psychological health, and reproductive health. Depression and social support are among the factors that affect the quality of sexual life. AIM The present study aimed to determine the impact of perceived social support on the sexual quality of life and depression in married women between the ages of 18 and 49. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 976 married women aged 18 to 49 were included in this cross-sectional study in which an online data collection method was used Sexual Life Quality Scale, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, and Beck Depression Scale, which were used as data collection tools. Statistical analysis used: Analyses were performed using SPSS version 26.0. Descriptive statistics were used for number, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, as well as independent group t-test, correlation, and regression analysis. The "Enter" model was used in the logistic regression analysis. RESULTS It was established that nearly one-third of married women aged 18-49 had low levels of perceived social support and sexual quality of life, and almost half of them experienced symptoms of depression. The quality of sexual life was 3.6 times (P = 0.001) lower in those with low social support and 1.6 times (P = 0.024) lower in those with depression. CONCLUSION Considering the fact that women's sexual problems, low social support and depression are important predictors of sexual quality of life, special attention should be paid to increasing social support to women, handling women's sexual problems more carefully, and detecting and treating such problems.

Abstract
Objective Sexual dysfunction among women with diabetes is a common but neglected health issue worldwide. The objective of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunction and its associated factors among women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Subjects and methods This cross-sectional comparative study comprises 150 women with diabetes and 100 healthy women without diabetes who visited the endocrinology outpatient department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). The data were collected from July to December 2019. Sexual dysfunction was assessed by the 19-item Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Informed consent was obtained before participation. Collected data were analysed by SPSS 26. Results More women with diabetes than control subjects reported sexual dysfunction (79% vs. 72%; p = 0.864). The global FSFI score was lower among the diabetes patients than among the healthy controls (20.8 ± 7.2 vs. 23.7 ± 4.8; p < 0.001). Patients with T2DM scored significantly lower in the domains of desire (p = 0.04), lubrication (p = 0.01), orgasm (p = 0.01), and satisfaction (p < 0.001), but not the domain of arousal (p = 0.09). A prolonged duration of diabetes was the primary contributor to orgasm problems (adjusted odds ratio, aOR 1.3, 95% CI 1.1-1.7) and painful intercourse (aOR 1.2, 95% CI 1.1- 1.5). Conclusion Sexual problems are frequent in women with diabetes. Inclusion of sexual health in comprehensive diabetes management is crucial to address this problem as well as to improve the quality of life of female diabetes patients.

Abstract
Female genital lichen sclerosus is an underdiagnosed, distressing, chronic dermatosis affecting the well-being of women. The aim of this retrospective case-control study was to assess whether the disease is connected with work productivity and activity impairment, depression and decreased sexual quality of life. Fifty-one female patients with genital lichen sclerosus and forty-five healthy women were enrolled to the study and filled out an online survey including: Work Productivity and Activity Impairment: General Health (WPAI:GH), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and The Sexual Quality of Life-Female (SQOL-F) questionnaires. The results showed that women with genital lichen sclerosus are at risk of having a diminished work productivity, are more often screened for depression and have a decreased sexual quality of life. The study highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to treating female genital lichen sclerosus.

Abstract
Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is an underinvestigated comorbidity of diabetes mellitus, often not evaluated in diabetes clinics. Diabetic women should be encouraged to talk about this topic by their diabetologist, because these problems could be comorbid to cardio-metabolic alterations, as it happens in the male counterpart. This review summarizes evidence on sexual dysfunction characteristics in diabetic women, exploring possible underlying pathogenic mechanisms. The role of hypoglycemic drugs in this context was also evaluated. To date, no specific questionnaire has been designed for the assessment of sexual dysfunctions in diabetic female patients but the use of colour-doppler ultrasound of clitoral arteries has been highlighted as a useful tool for the assessment of cardiovascular risk in these women. Similarly, no specific guidelines are available for the treatment of FSD in the diabetic population but patients should be supported to have a healthy lifestyle and, in the absence of contraindications, can benefit from already approved treatments for FSD.

Abstract
Aims: Previous research has focused on the impact of chronic diseases on men's sexual functioning and quality of life; however, little is known about the association between chronic disease and women's sexual functioning and quality of life. Current study aimed at exploring the differences in quality of life and sexual functioning between women without chronic disease, and women with type 1 diabetes, with type 2 diabetes, and with arterial hypertension. Methods: A web-survey was completed by 313 Portuguese women (167 without chronic disease, 48 with type 1 diabetes, 48 with type 2 diabetes, and 50 with arterial hypertension). Results: Women without chronic disease scored significantly higher than women with chronic disease in quality of life and sexual functioning, adjusting for age. Conclusions: Quality of life and sexual functioning in women with chronic diseases is impaired.
