Abstract
Augmented reality (AR) has been investigated as an engaging educational tool that motivates undergraduate health science students to learn human anatomy. AR technology is developing rapidly, supporting medical education by presenting models of human anatomy as digital objects overlaid in the real world via mobile or head-mounted display (HMD). The purpose of this systematic review is to provide a post-pandemic analysis of AR compared with other methods for teaching anatomy and to determine the effects of AR on learning outcomes (LOs). Original research published between January 2020 and April 2024 was obtained from the WOS, Scopus, MEDLINE(Ovid), EMBASE, and PubMed databases, following PRISMA 2020 protocols. Articles included for analysis compared AR with alternative pedagogical methods of teaching undergraduate human anatomy. Studies that described AR as "mixed reality" (MR) were included, while those describing "virtual reality" (VR) were not considered. Risk of bias and limitations in individual studies were assessed using the Quality Assessment with Diverse Studies (QuADS) tool. Data were synthesized using a convergent integrated approach with LOs tabulated for visual analysis. A total of 17 articles were eligible for review: nine studies comparing AR via HMD hardware, and eight comparing mobile AR. The LOs of 12 studies were overwhelmingly reported as non-significant. Insufficient data precluded an accurate meta-analysis of LOs, and critical analysis revealed a considerable risk of bias and lack of justified methodology. While AR holds potential for supporting undergraduate students in learning anatomy, definitive outcomes from the current literature are limited by the heterogeneous nature of the studies and inconsistent use of terminology. It is recommended that future research employs professional AR technologies and incorporates the perspectives of university educators to ensure reliable outcomes that can direct the further development of AR technology in medical education.

Abstract
With the proliferation of wound assessment apps across various app stores and the increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare apps, there is a growing need for a comprehensive evaluation system. Current apps lack sufficient evidence-based reliability, prompting the necessity for a systematic assessment. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the wound assessment and monitoring apps, identify limitations, and outline opportunities for future app development. An electronic search across two major app stores (Google Play store, and Apple App Store) was conducted and the selected apps were rated by three independent raters. A total of 170 apps were discovered, and 10 were selected for review based on a set of inclusion and exclusion criteria. By modifying existing scales, an app rating scale for wound assessment apps is created and used to evaluate the selected ten apps. Our rating scale evaluates apps' functionality and software quality characteristics. Most apps in the app stores, according to our evaluation, do not meet the overall requirements for wound monitoring and assessment. All the apps that we reviewed are focused on practitioners and doctors. According to our evaluation, the app ImitoWound got the highest mean score of 4.24. But this app has 7 criteria among our 11 functionalities criteria. Finally, we have recommended future opportunities to leverage advanced techniques, particularly those involving artificial intelligence, to enhance the functionality and efficacy of wound assessment apps. This research serves as a valuable resource for future developers and researchers seeking to enhance the design of wound assessment-based applications, encompassing improvements in both software quality and functionality.

Abstract
This study explored the enablers and obstacles to the integration of traditional medicine and mainstream medicine in mental health services in West Africa. This study is a systematic review conducted in accordance with the relevant parts of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-analyses. Keywords searches were done in databases, and other reference lists were also searched. The Rainbow model of integrated care and a thematic analysis framework were used to account for the factors influencing the integration of traditional medicine and mainstream medicine in mental health services in West Africa. A total of 12 studies met the eligibility criteria after the evaluation of 6413 articles from databases and reference lists. The themes of: policy and implementation; different conceptualisation of mental health/referrals; trust issues, and education and training, were enablers or obstacles of integration depending on how they worked to facilitate or hinder integration. There was an indication of little integration of TM and MM at the macro, meso and micro levels in mental health services in West Africa. Though the study does cover all the West African states evenly, it is recommended that policy-makers and stakeholders interested in integration should ensure integration activities, especially policies, cut across all the levels of the rainbow model of integrated care and are planned and aligned at the macro, meso and micro levels instead of using ad hoc measures, informal initiatives or placing TM services in MM mental health services, which do not amount to integration.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) have been suggested to play a key role in sexual function and response in women. However, syntheses of the evidence thus far have been limited to interventional studies in women with pelvic pain or pelvic floor disorders, and these studies have failed to fully capture the involvement of the PFMs in a broader population. AIM We sought to appraise the evidence regarding the role of the PFMs in sexual function/response in women without pelvic pain or pelvic floor disorders. More specifically, we examined the following: (1) effects of treatment modalities targeting the PFMs on sexual function/response, (2) associations between PFM function and sexual function/response, and (3) differences in PFM function between women with and those without sexual dysfunction. METHODS We searched for all available studies in eight electronic databases. We included interventional studies evaluating the effects of PFM modalities on sexual outcomes, as well as observational studies investigating the association between PFM function and sexual outcomes or the differences in PFM function in women with and those without sexual dysfunction. The quality of each study was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Estimates were pooled using random-effects meta-analyses whenever possible, or a narrative synthesis of the results was provided. MAIN OUTCOMES The main outcomes were sexual function (based on a questionnaire)/sexual response (based on physiological test), and PFM function (assessment of the PFM parameters such as strength and tone based on various methods). RESULTS A total of 33 studies were selected, including 14 interventional and 19 observational studies, most of which (31/33) were deemed of moderate or high quality. Ten out of 14 interventional studies in women with and without sexual dysfunctions showed that PFM modalities had a significant effect on sexual function. Regarding the observational studies, a meta-analysis revealed a significant moderate association between PFM strength and sexual function (r = 0.41; 95% CI, 0.08-066). Of the 7 observational studies performed to assess sexual response, all showed that the PFMs were involved in arousal or orgasm. Conflicting results were found in the 3 studies that evaluated differences in PFM function in women with and those without sexual dysfunction. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS Our results highlight the contribution of the PFMs in sexual function/response. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS One strength of this review is the inclusion of a broad range of study designs and outcomes, allowing a thorough synthesis of evidence. However, interpretations of these data should consider risk of bias in the studies, small sample sizes, and the absence of control/comparison groups. CONCLUSION The findings of this review support the involvement of the PFMs in sexual function/response in women without pelvic pain or pelvic dysfunction. Well-designed studies should be performed to further investigate PFM modalities as part of the management of sexual dysfunction.

Abstract
AIM The aim of this study was two-fold. Firstly, to describe the influence of an augmented reality (AR)-based online educational experience on the academic performance and learning determinants of nursing students related to the study of leg ulcer care. We also set out to compare these online results with those obtained in the same experience developed a year before but in a face-to-face design. BACKGROUND Undergraduate education in nursing aims to train students towards an acceptable level of competence for professional practice. Sometimes, some essential clinical areas of knowledge are particularly challenging for both students and nurse educators. One of these is the care of chronic wounds, particularly in leg ulcers where nurses play a key role. Currently face-to-face teaching methods are evolving to more active contexts and alternative means such as online learning and AR are becoming widely used, garnering encouraging results. DESIGN A quasi-experimental design was used. Two experiments were carried out to meet the aims of the study, the first one was a pre-test post-test design in one group and the second one a post-test two experimental groups design. METHODS Participants were undergraduate nursing students from the School of Nursing of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The two experimental groups received the same training but in different environments: online during 2019/2020 (n = 111) and onsite during 2018/2019 (n = 72). The instruments selected were a knowledge and skills test and two validated questionnaires. RESULTS Regarding academic performance, the study demonstrated significant differences towards learning after the AR-based online experience (Z = -9.074; p ≤ 0.001). The participants also showed good results in relation to the learning determinants studied. Compared with students receiving AR-based face-to-face teaching, the students with the online learning approach scored better in the dimensions Autonomous Learning (U=3104.5; p = 0.020) and 3D Comprehension (U=3167.0; p = 0.035). However, the participants in the onsite experience scored higher in the Attention dimension (U=3163.0; p = 0.035). CONCLUSIONS AR positively influences academic performance and diverse educational variables when this experience is carried out online. Since both the online and face-to-face experience show statistically significant benefits in different dimensions of the learning determinants, the need to improve the AR learning experience through blended-learning environments should be promoted.

Abstract
Objectives The use of 3D video in medical education has not been fully explored. This article aims to review the evidence on 3D video currently presented in the medical education literature, including its impact on curriculum activities, to reference future research in this field. Methods According to the guidelines of Arksey and O'Malley, the authors used a systematic search strategy (the last search was in December 2022) to search nine literature databases published in English, and only primary studies were included. Two authors independently screened all articles based on the eligibility criteria and performed a thematic analysis of the included literature. Results Of 1,302 articles identified, 23 were included for insights into how opportunities for 3D video in medical education are created, how they are experienced, and how they influence and manifest behavior demonstrated partial congruency. Three themes were identified: (a) advantages of using 3D video in medical education; (b) the effect of using 3D video in medical education on students' academic achievement and ability; and (c) students' experience of 3D video in medical education. Conclusions The application of 3D video in medical education has won the support of most students and educators. However, the effect of using 3D video in medical education is still controversial. Medical educators should combine the curriculum's characteristics, the students' learning situation, and the existing educational resources and choose to use them after careful consideration.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world and the fifth-leading cause of cancer-related death. Treatment is effective in the early stages. Thus, a need to screen considerable portions of the population is crucial. When the screening procedure uncovers a suspect lesion, a biopsy is performed to assess its potential for malignancy. This procedure is usually performed using real-time Ultrasound (US) imaging. This work proposes a visualization system for US breast biopsy. It consists of an application running on AR glasses that interact with a computer application. The AR glasses track the position of QR codes mounted on an US probe and a biopsy needle. US images are shown in the user's field of view with enhanced lesion visualization and needle trajectory. To validate the system, latency of the transmission of US images was evaluated. Usability assessment compared our proposed prototype with a traditional approach with different users. It showed that needle alignment was more precise, with 92.67 ± 2.32° in our prototype versus 89.99 ± 37.49° in a traditional system. The users also reached the lesion more accurately. Overall, the proposed solution presents promising results, and the use of AR glasses as a tracking and visualization device exhibited good performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic wounds are a serious public health problem worldwide. Providing optimal treatment to patients suffering from leg ulcers is a priority for nursing. Therefore, nursing students need to acquire the necessary competencies to provide evidence-based care. Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology in health science education which can help nursing students achieve these skills if it is promoted by both institutions and educationalists. OBJECTIVES To test the effectiveness of an AR-based methodology for teaching-learning aspects of the nursing curriculum (leg ulcer care), as well as to describe how AR influences different learning determinants of nursing students. DESIGN A quasi-experimental study was carried out. PARTICIPANTS/SETTINGS The participants of the study were 137 s-year nursing students from the School of Nursing of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) (average age = 21.59 years, 80.29 % females). Of them, 65 comprised the control group (Non-AR-based teaching) and 72 comprised the experimental group (AR-based teaching). METHODS Pre-post tests were used to measure knowledge and skills about leg ulcer care in both groups. Additionally, two validated questionnaires were selected to identify the influence of AR on learning determinants in the experimental group. The study took place during the 2018/2019 academic year. RESULTS Significantly higher scores (7.68 vs. 6.14) were found in the knowledge post-test in the experimental group (p ≤ 0.001), while the pre-test did not show differences between groups (4.43 vs. 4.32). Also, nursing students indicated high scores in attention, autonomous learning, understanding and motivation to carry out learning objectives using AR. CONCLUSIONS AR is a tool that improves performance related to the specific aspects of the nursing academic curriculum (leg ulcer care), while encouraging positive attitudes towards the teaching-learning process. These findings reinforce the need to include innovative methodologies in nursing classrooms.

Abstract
Adaptive systems and Augmented Reality are among the most promising technologies in teaching and learning processes, as they can be an effective tool for training engineering students' spatial skills. Prior work has investigated the integration of AR technology in engineering education, and more specifically, in spatial ability training. However, the modeling of user knowledge in order to personalize the training has been neither sufficiently explored nor exploited in this task. There is a lot of space for research in this area. In this work, we introduce a novel personalization of the learning path within an AR spatial ability training application. The aim of the research is the integration of Augmented Reality, specifically in engineering evaluation and fuzzy logic technology. During one academic semester, three engineering undergraduate courses related to the domain of spatial skills were supported by a developed adaptive training system named PARSAT. Using the technology of fuzzy weights in a rule-based decision-making module and the learning theory of the Structure of the Observed Learning Outcomes for the design of the learning material, PARSAT offers adaptive learning activities for the students' cognitive skills. Students' data were gathered at the end of the academic semester, and a thorough analysis was delivered. The findings demonstrated that the proposed training method outperformed the traditional method that lacked adaptability, in terms of domain expertise and learning theories, considerably enhancing student learning outcomes.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order have restricted learning activities from traditional face-to-face classrooms attendance shifted to full online learning in the student's environment. The present study is aimed to explore pertaining issues on full online learning among nursing students and offer a contingency solution. Nursing students from one Malaysian public institution were recruited. The sessions were conducted online via teleconference and were recorded. The data were analysed using thematic analysis with the assistance of QDA Miner Lite software. Twenty-one students participated, resulting in four focus group discussions and three in-depth interviews. Three themes with a total of ten sub-themes were generated: (i) Full online learning has ramifications on life (it is about life; blurred division on education life and personal life; non-conducive environment for learning; health and well-being; human is an adaptable being while the transition takes time), (ii) full online learning is a medium of teaching and learning delivery but with several concerns (the boon and bane of fully online learning; challenges associated with full online learning; coping strategy in handling full online learning), and (iii) Foundation in teaching and learning is the key (role of the educator; teaching and learning approaches; motivation and regulation). A model of practice for full online learning was developed, consisting of some modifications to create a conducive and healthy learning environment. This study embarks on a more structured and standard online learning practice for making the Internet of Things and Industrial Revolution 4.0 concept a contemporary and mainstream education practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Augmented reality (AR) involves digitally overlapping virtual objects onto physical objects in real space so that individuals can interact with both at the same time. AR in medical education seeks to reduce surgical complications through high-quality education. There is uncertainty in the use of AR as a learning tool for interventional radiology procedures. OBJECTIVE To compare AR with other learning methods in interventional radiology. DESIGN AND SETTING Systematic review of comparative studies on teaching techniques. METHODS We searched the Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, Embase, Tripdatabase, ERIC, CINAHL, SciELO and LILACS electronic databases for studies comparing AR simulation with other teaching methods in interventional radiology. This systematic review was performed in accordance with PRISMA and the BEME Collaboration. Eligible studies were evaluated using the quality indicators provided in the BEME Collaboration Guide no. 11, and the Kirkpatrick model. RESULTS Four randomized clinical trials were included in this review. The level of educational evidence found among all the papers was 2B, according to the Kirkpatrick model. The Cochrane Collaboration tool was applied to assess the risk of bias for individual studies and across studies. Three studies showed an improvement in teaching of the proposed procedure through AR; one study showed that the participants took longer to perform the procedure through AR. CONCLUSION AR, as a complementary teaching tool, can provide learners with additional skills, but there is still a lack of studies with a higher evidence level according to the Kirkpatrick model. Abstract
Augmented reality (AR) is a field of technology that has evolved drastically during the last decades, due to its vast range of applications in everyday life. The aim of this paper is to provide researchers with an overview of what has been surveyed since 2010 in terms of AR application areas as well as in terms of its technical aspects, and to discuss the extent to which both application areas and technical aspects have been covered, as well as to examine whether one can extract useful evidence of what aspects have not been covered adequately and whether it is possible to define common taxonomy criteria for performing AR reviews in the future. To this end, a search with inclusion and exclusion criteria has been performed in the Scopus database, producing a representative set of 47 reviews, covering the years from 2010 onwards. A proper taxonomy of the results is introduced, and the findings reveal, among others, the lack of AR application reviews covering all suggested criteria.
