Abstract
OBJECTIVE This paper aims to provide an evidence-based summary of the most effective strategies for comprehensive healthcare of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in cancer patients. METHOD Following the "6S" model, relevant evidence on CIPN management was collected from reputable evidence-based resource websites and databases nationally and internationally. The included articles were evaluated for methodological quality, and evidence was extracted using the Australian JBI Evidence-based Health Care Center's literature evaluation standard (2016 edition). RESULTS A total of 60 articles were included in this study, comprising 2 guidelines, 5 expert consensus statements, and 53 systematic reviews. The findings of these articles were summarized across 7 dimensions, including risk factor screening, assessment, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, management, and health education, resulting in the identification of 42 relevant pieces of evidence. CONCLUSIONS This study provides a comprehensive synthesis of evidence-based recommendations for managing CIPN in cancer patients, offering guidance for healthcare professionals engaged in clinical practice. However, when implementing these recommendations, it is crucial to consider the individual patient's clinical circumstances, preferences, and expert judgment, ensuring feasibility and applicability in real-world clinical settings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a serious adverse effect of cisplatin. The current study aimed to determine whether PEGylated nanoliposomal cisplatin can limit CIPN in an animal model. METHODS Cisplatin-loaded PEGylated liposome nanoparticles (Cis-PL) were produced as a combination of lecithin, cholesterol, and DSPE-mPEG2000 in a molar ratio of 50:45:5 and were characterized by polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) analysis, as well as encapsulation efficiency (EE). Fifteen male rats were provided and randomly divided into 3 groups including Cis-PL group, cisplatin group, and control group. Behavioural tests (hot-plate test and acetone drop test) were used for evaluating CIPN. Moreover, oxidative stress markers and histopathological analysis were applied. Treatment-related toxicity was assessed by haematological analysis as well as liver and renal function tests. RESULTS Cis-PL had an average particle size of 125.4, PDI of 0.127, and zeta potential of -40.9 mV. Moreover, the Cis-PL exhibited a high EE as well as low levels of leakage rate at 25 °C. In a hot-plate test, paw withdrawal latency was longer in Cis-PL group in comparison to rats treated with cisplatin. A lower number of withdrawal responses was detected during acetone drop test in Cis-PL group than in cisplatin-treated rats. Assessment of oxidative stress markers showed that Cis-PL could improve oxidative stress. Additionally, histopathological assessment demonstrated that the number of satellite cells was significantly reduced in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) of Cis-PL-treated rats compared with those treated with cisplatin. The cisplatin group had elevated white blood cells counts, reduced platelet counts, and higher levels of bilirubin, ALT (alanine aminotransferase, and AST (aspartate aminotransferase), and creatinine compared with the control group, which was ameliorated in Cis-PL group. CONCLUSIONS Data from the current study support the previous hypothesis that Cisplatin-loaded PEGylated liposome could be a promising solution for CIPN in the future by modulating oxidative stress and preventing glial cell activation in DRG, suggesting further clinical studies to investigate the efficacy of this agent and its potential application in clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Integrative nursing (IN) is an essential component of integrative medicine and integrative oncology. IN includes a range of external naturopathic, integrative nursing interventions, such as compresses, embrocation, and foot/hand baths, aimed at alleviating symptoms and side effects of conventional treatment. The project IMPLEMENT-UKU ("Implementation of IN at the University Hospital Ulm") was accompanied by a descriptive pilot study on the use of IN interventions on cancer-related symptoms in oncology inpatients, the characterization of these patients and the evaluation of the impact. METHODS A single-arm study was conducted using a paper-based questionnaire administered before the IN interventions (t0) and 24 hours after the IN interventions (t1). Topics included sociodemographic data, symptoms, quality of life, health status, psychological burden, attitudes, and experience and satisfaction with the IN interventions. Analyses were descriptive using absolute and relative frequencies. RESULTS During the 6-month study period out of 66 patients recommended for IN consultation by medical and nursing staff on 2 wards, 62 (93.9%) accepted the offer. Of those patients who received IN, 21 patients (33.9%) participated in the study. The number of IN interventions received per patient ranged from 1 to 3 during the 24-hour survey period. And a total of 36 IN interventions were performed: The most treated body region was the feet/legs (50.0%), followed by the back (25.0%), using oils such as solum oil (41.7%) and lavender oil (13.9%). Embrocation (77.8%) was the predominant type of IN intervention. For patients, the mean FACIT-F score was 29.2 ± 12.5. The mean PHQ-4 score was 3.0 ± 1.9. Regarding sleep quality in the last 4 weeks, 13 participants (61.9%) described it as rather or very poor. Satisfaction with the IN was high, with a large proportion of participants evaluating the IN interventions very positively. CONCLUSION The study's findings suggest that there is a great need for IN among oncology inpatients. These patients are open to and interested in IN interventions and evaluate them positively. IN provides a promising opportunity to provide non-pharmacological support to inpatients. The integration of IN in conventional oncology care settings may enhance patient-centered care and contribute to improved patient wellbeing.

Abstract
Background Peripheral neuropathy (PN) is prevalent in people with human immunodeficiency virus (PHIV) with no Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment. Therapeutic Chinese massage (TCM) is a promising noninvasive and non-harmful intervention for HIV-related PN. However, relevant research is lacking. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of TCM for HIV-related PN. Method We conducted a pilot, single-centered, two-arm, double-blinded, randomized controlled trial. Twenty eligible PHIV were recruited primarily from the AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. in Texas and were randomly assigned into two groups. Ten participants in the intervention group received three weekly 25-min TCM sessions by a certified TCM therapist. The remaining ten control group participants received the same therapist's three weekly 25-min placebo massage sessions on their lower extremities. The outcome was the feasibility of this study as measured by recruitment and completion rates, participant safety, and treatment adherence and compliance, as well as the effect size of the intervention. Results The study population comprised 20 PHIV (mean age 55.23). This study showed high feasibility as measured by a high rate of recruitment, a 100% rate of completion, and zero serious adverse events. As we inquired 21 respondents for eligibility for the study, all except one had HIV-related PN. All respondents were willing to participate in the study and adhered to the group assignment after they enrolled in the study. The participants' baseline pain was at a medium to a high level (6.30 [2.15] out of 10). Conclusion Chinese massage is a feasible intervention in PHIV. Future relevant randomized controlled trials are expected. Clinical trial registration https://clinicaltrials.gov/, NCT05379140.

Abstract
The chemotherapeutic agent paclitaxel has significantly enhanced the treatment of various types of cancer. However, the quality of life of cancer patients is often impacted by the painful and dose-restrictive paclitaxel side effect known as paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy (PIPN). A non-pharmacological method called cryotherapy has shown promise in alleviating PIPN-related symptoms. In this systematic review, we aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of cryotherapy in preventing PIPN. The review analyzed four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving individuals treated with paclitaxel for breast and gynecological cancer. Cryotherapy showed success in lowering PIPN symptoms in several studies, as judged by various outcome measures, although the findings varied. The safety profile of cryotherapy was typically good, with minimal side effects. However, methodological variations and small sample sizes in the studies analyzed limit drawing definitive conclusions from them. To obtain conclusive evidence, studies with standardized techniques and larger sample sizes are required. Further research is necessary to understand cryotherapy's potential mechanisms and long-term effects. This review highlights the potential of cryotherapy in the management of PIPN, explains how it works, and suggests future research topics to improve its application.
