Application and Challenges of IoT Healthcare System in COVID-19

The importance of the IoT is increasing in every field of life, and it especially has a significant role in improving the efficiency of the healthcare system. Its demand further increased during COVID-19 to facilitate the patient remotely from their home digitally. Every time the COVID-19 patient visited the doctor for minor complications, it increased the risk of spreading the virus and the cost for the patient. Another alarming situation arose when a patient was in a critical position and may not claim an emergency service from the nearby healthcare system, increasing the death rate. The IoT uses healthcare services to properly monitor COVID-19 patients by using the interconnected network to overcome these issues. Through the IoT, the patient is facilitated by the health care system without spreading the virus, decreasing the death ratio during COVID-19. This paper aims to discuss different applications, technologies, and challenges of the IoT healthcare system, related to COVID-19. Different databases were searched using keywords in PubMed, ResearchGate, Scopus, ACM, Springer, Elsevier, Google Scholar, etc. This paper is trying to discuss, identify, and highlight the useful applications of the IoT healthcare system to provide guidelines to the researchers, healthcare institutions, and scientists to overcomes the hazards of COVID-19 pandemics. Hence, IoT is beneficial by identifying the symptoms of COVID-19 patients and by providing better treatments that use the healthcare system efficiently. At the end of the paper, challenges and future work are discussed, along with useful suggestions through which scientists can benefit from the IoT healthcare system during COVID-19 and in a severe pandemic. The survey paper is not limited to the healthcare system and COVID-19, but it can be beneficial for future pandemics or in a worse situation.

High-Performance Breaking and Intelligent of Miniature Circuit Breakers

The exploitation and utilization of clean energy such as wind and photovoltaic power plays an important role in the reduction in carbon emissions to achieve the goal of "emission peak and carbon neutral", but such a quantity of clean energy accessing the electric system will foster the transition of the electric power system structure. The intelligentization of power equipment will be an inevitable trend of development. High breaking performance, remote control and a digital detection platform of miniature circuit breaker, a protective equipment of a power distribution system, have also been inevitable requirements of the power Iot system. Based on the above, this paper studies three aspects: high-performance AC and DC general switching technology, remote control technology and operation status' digital monitoring. A new DC non-polar breaking technology is proposed, which improves the short circuit breaking ability. An experimental prototype using the above techniques was fabricated and passed the DC 1000 V/10 kA short-circuit breaking test. On the basis of the above, an intelligent circuit breaker is developed, which contains multiple functions: remote switching, real-time temperature detection, energy metering and fault warning. Moreover, a software for digital condition monitoring and remote control is developed. This work has certain theoretical and practical significance for the development of the power Internet of things.

An Efficient Dynamic Solution for the Detection and Prevention of Black Hole Attack in VANETs

Rapid and tremendous advances in wireless technology, miniaturization, and Internet of things (IoT) technology have brought significant development to vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). VANETs and IoT together play a vital role in the current intelligent transport system (ITS). However, a VANET is highly vulnerable to various security attacks due to its highly dynamic, decentralized, open-access medium, and protocol-design-related concerns. Regarding security concerns, a black hole attack (BHA) is one such threat in which the control or data packets are dropped by the malicious vehicle, converting a safe path/link into a compromised one. Dropping data packets has a severe impact on a VANET's performance and security and may cause road fatalities, accidents, and traffic jams. In this study, a novel solution called detection and prevention of a BHA (DPBHA) is proposed to secure and improve the overall security and performance of the VANETs by detecting BHA at an early stage of the route discovery process. The proposed solution is based on calculating a dynamic threshold value and generating a forged route request (RREQ) packet. The solution is implemented and evaluated in the NS-2 simulator and its performance and efficacy are compared with the benchmark schemes. The results showed that the proposed DPBHA outperformed the benchmark schemes in terms of increasing the packet delivery ratio (PDR) by 3.0%, increasing throughput by 6.15%, reducing the routing overhead by 3.69%, decreasing the end-to-end delay by 6.13%, and achieving a maximum detection rate of 94.66%.
