Abstract
Concerns about the health of the planet have grown dramatically, and the dyeing sector of the textile industry is one of the most polluting of all industries. Nanoclays can clean dyeing wastewater using their adsorption capacities. In this study, as a new finding, it was possible to analyze and quantify the amount of metal ions substituted by anionic dyes when adsorbed, and to determine the optimal amount of nanoclay to be used to adsorb all the dye. The tests demonstrated the specific amount of nanoclay that must be used and how to optimize the subsequent processes of separation and processing of the nanoclay. Hydrotalcite was used as the adsorbent material. Direct dyes were used in this research. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns allowed the shape recovery of the hydrotalcite to be checked and confirmed the adsorption of the dyes. An FTIR analysis was used to check the presence of characteristic groups of the dyes in the resulting hybrids. The thermogravimetric (TGA) tests corroborated the dye adsorption and the thermal fastness improvement. Total solar reflectance (TSR) showed increased radiation protection for UV-VIS-NIR. Through the work carried out, it has been possible to establish the maximum adsorption point of hydrotalcite.

Abstract
The adage of new generation of fine chemicals process is the best process applied in the absence of conventional methods. However, many methods use different reaction parameters, such as basic and acidic catalysts, for example oxidation, reduction, bromination, water splitting, cyanohydrin, ethoxylation, syngas, aldol condensation, Michael addition, asymmetric ring opening of epoxides, epoxidation, Wittig and Heck reaction, asymmetric ester epoxidation of fatty acids, combustion of methane, NOx reduction, biodiesel synthesis, propylene oxide polymerization. Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) have received considerable attention due their potential applications in flame retardant and has excellent medicinal property for reducing acidity. These catalysts are characterized using analytical techniques, such as: X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric-Differential Thermal Analyzer (TG-DTA), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission electron microscopes (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area, N2 Adsorption-desorption, Temperature programmed reduction (TPR), X-ray photoelectrons spectroscopy (XPS), which gives its overall picture of its structure, porosity, morphology, thermal stability, reusability, and activity of catalysts. LDHs catalysts have proven to be economic and environmentally friendly. The above discussed applications make these catalysts unique from Green Chemistry point of view since they are reusable, and eco-friendly catalysts. Abstract
With increasing global warming awareness, layered double hydroxides (LDHs), hydrotalcites, and their related materials are key components to reduce the environmental impact of human activities. Such materials can be synthesized quickly with high efficiency by using different synthesis processes. Moreover, their properties' tunability is appreciated in various industrial processes. Regarding physical and structural properties, such materials can be applied in environmental applications such as the adsorption of atmospheric and aqueous pollutants, hydrogen production, or the formation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF). After the first part that was dedicated to the synthesis processes of hydrotalcites, the present review reports on specific environmental applications chosen as examples in various fields (green chemistry and depollution) that have gained increasing interest in the last decades, enlightening the links between structural properties, synthesis route, and application using lamellar materials.

Abstract
The issue of chloride induced corrosion of reinforced concrete is a serious problem affecting infrastructure globally and causing huge economic losses. As such this issue has gained a considerable attention in the scientific community in the recent past. Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) have recently emerged as a new class of concrete-additives with a potential to increase the chloride resistance of concrete and mitigate corrosion. LDHs are clay like structures consisting of positively charged layers of cations with associated hydroxides and exchangeable anions in between the layers. Due to this charge balanced structure, LDHs possess the property of encapsulating an anion from the environment and replacing it with an exchangeable anion present in its layers. Potential applications include chloride entrapment in concrete and delivery of corrosion inhibiting anions. However, many versatile compositions of LDHs can be easily synthesized and their application as cement additives reach far beyond corrosion mitigation in concrete. This review presents a summary of recent advances on the applications of LDH in concrete. An extensive set of recently published literature has been critically reviewed and trends have been identified.

Abstract
This paper describes a facile solvothermal method to synthesize self-assembled three-dimensional (3D) Ni2+-Fe3+ layered double hydroxides (LDHs). Flower-like Ni2+-Fe3+ LDHs constructed of thin nanopetals were obtained using ethylene glycol (EG) as a chelating reagent and urea as a hydrolysis agent. The reaction mechanism and self-assembly process are discussed. After calcinating the as-prepared LDHs at 450 degrees C in nitrogen gas, porous NiO/NiFe2O4 nanosheets were obtained. This work resulted in the development of a simple, cheap, and effective route for the fabrication of large area Ni2+-Fe3+ LDHs as well as porous NiO/NiFe2O4 nanosheets.

Abstract
Two types of layered double hydroxides (LDHs), hydrotalcite and hydrocalumite with different composition of layers and interlayers were investigated for the removal of arsenite from solutions. The kinetics study showed that anion exchange process was very fast and apparently attained a steady-state in the range of 8-16 h. Arsenite removal was found to be 87.5% and 83.6% with the nitrate forms of hydrotalcite and hydrocalumite, respectively. Layered double hydroxides synthesized at room temperature showed higher uptake than those synthesized by hydrothermal method due to small crystal size (high surface area) of the former. As expected, calcined hydrotalcite showed higher uptake than uncalcined carbonate form of hydrotalcite. The uptake process was anion exchange in hydrotalcite-type LDH as confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) but possibly some dissolution-reprecipitation occurred with hydrocalumite-type LDH.

Abstract
In the present study we investigated the adsorption of sodium dodecyl- and octylsulfate, and sodium dodecyl- and octylbenzenesulfonate, on a layered double hydroxide (LDH) under controlled conditions. The results were compared to those obtained for the adsorption of surfactants on mineral oxides and on LDHs, showing that the behavior of surfactant adsorption on LDHs can be approximately explained by the models proposed for surfactant adsorption on mineral oxides. The electrokinetic potential of the surfactant-adsorbed LDH particles in suspension was measured in order to monitor the variation of this potential as a function of the adsorption. The results showed a characteristic behavior of the surfactant-adsorbed LDH that can be correlated to a rearrangement of the adsorbed layer at concentrations above the CMC. Surfactant sorption was also studied, using SDS and the calcined LDH, showing the regeneration of the calcined material by intercalating the DS anions. Two processes can occur during the removal of surfactants from aqueous solutions by LDHs, depending on the starting material: (i) adsorption itself, when a noncalcined LDH intercalated with a nonexchangeable anion, such as carbonate, is used; and (ii) adsorption and intercalation, which occurs when a calcined LDH, like Mg-Al-CO(3), is used. The potential application of this material for surfactant removal is one of the reasons for the need for a better understanding of the mechanisms involved. As we demonstrate here, LDHs are very efficient in removing surfactants from aqueous solutions. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.
