Abstract
Collision tumors consisting of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cavernous hemangioma (CH) are rare and the clinicopathological characteristics or cause of the tumors remain unclear. The present study reports the case of a 71-year-old male patient who was admitted to Sunshine Union Hospital (Weifang, China) due to a liver mass found during a routine physical examination. computed tomography scans showed a main lesion of ~4.0×4.2×3.5 cm in segment IV of the patient's liver and a nodule of ~2.4×2.2×1.3 cm in the lower-left part of the lesion, which was clearly demarcated from the main lesion. The capsule of the lesion was found to be intact during the operation performed to remove the tumor. The final patient diagnosis was of a HCC-CH collision tumor based on pathology. The patient underwent follow-up for 6 months after surgery and no recurrence was observed.

Abstract
Hepatic epithelioid angiomyolipoma (HEAML) is a rare tumour of mesenchymal tissue with a malignant tendency. Occurring most frequently in women, the relative incidence in men and women, according to incomplete statistics, is approximately 1:5. In rare cases, disease occurrence and development is hidden. Lesions are generally discovered as chance findings by patients; abdominal pain is the first symptom, and imaging has no specificity in diagnosing the disease. Therefore, great difficulties exist in the diagnosis and treatment of HEAML. Here, the case of a 51-year-old female patient with a history of hepatitis B, and abdominal pain over 8 months as the initial symptom, is described. The patient was found to have multiple intrahepatic angiomyolipoma. Due to the small and scattered foci, complete resection was impossible, and because of her history of hepatitis B, conservative treatment was undertaken, with the patient undergoing regular follow-up. When hepatic cell carcinoma could not be excluded, the patient was treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization. No tumour neogenesis or metastasis was detected at the 1-year follow-up.

Abstract
Ultrasound (US) is often used to diagnose liver masses. Ensemble learning has recently been commonly used for image classification, but its detailed methods are not fully optimized. The purpose of this study is to investigate the usefulness and comparison of some ensemble learning and ensemble pruning techniques using multiple convolutional neural network (CNN) trained models for image classification of liver masses in US images. Dataset of the US images were classified into four categories: benign liver tumor (BLT) 6320 images, liver cyst (LCY) 2320 images, metastatic liver cancer (MLC) 9720 images, primary liver cancer (PLC) 7840 images. In this study, 250 test images were randomly selected for each class, for a total of 1000 images, and the remaining images were used as the training. 16 different CNNs were used for training and testing ultrasound images. The ensemble learning used soft voting (SV), weighted average voting (WAV), weighted hard voting (WHV) and stacking (ST). All four types of ensemble learning (SV, ST, WAV, and WHV) showed higher values of accuracy than the single CNN. All four types also showed significantly higher deep learning (DL) performance than ResNeXt101 alone. For image classification of liver masses using US images, ensemble learning improved the performance of DL over a single CNN.

Abstract
Hepatic monotypic epithelioid angiomyolipoma (AML) is a rare lesion in which the predominant population of an epithelioid component can mimic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The hepatic epithelioid AML with concomitant HCC is extremely uncommon. In this study, we present the clinical and pathologic features of a case of hepatic monotypic epithelioid AML with concomitant HCC in a 63-year-old man. Imaging examinations revealed two masses located in the liver, measuring 83×63 mm and 37×27 mm separately, which exhibited an early contrast enhancement and a rapid washout on enhanced computed tomography (CT), so that HCC with intrahepatic metastases was suspected. The small tumor was removed for intraoperative frozen section examination. Grossly, the tumor was solitary, well-circumscribed, and non-encapsulated. Microscopically, it was composed purely of a trabecular arrangement of epithelioid cells with a sinusoidal pattern. Immunohistochemically, it was positive for HMB45, Melan-A, and alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA). Interestingly, the large tumor has the histologic features similar to those of the small one. However, it was positive for epithelioid markers and negative for the melanocytic markers. It reminds us that there is a possibility of coexistence of HAML and HCC in the liver. We believe that this might be the first case report of a hepatic monotypic epithelioid AML with concomitant HCC. The patient gave up treatment and died in 6 months after the operation in the follow-up.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the effects of microRNA-126 (miR-126) on tumor proliferation and angiogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by targeting EGFL7. HCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were obtained from 71 HCC patients. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was conducted to detect expressions of EGFL7 and VEGF and the micro-vessel density (MVD). HCC cell lines were collected and assigned into the blank, miR-126 mimics, miR-126 inhibitors, miR-126 mimics negative control (NC), miR-126 inhibitors NC, si-EGFL7, and miR-126 inhibitors + si-EGFL7 groups. Expressions of miR-126 and EGFL7 mRNA were detected by qRT-PCR assay. The protein expressions of EGFL7 and VEGF were measured by Western blotting. MTT assay was used to measure the proliferation of HCC cells. Tumor xenograft model in nude mice was utilized to evaluate the influence of miR-126 on tumor growth. HCC tissues had higher miR-126 expression and lower EGFL7 mRNA expression than adjacent normal tissues. Compared with the blank, miR-126 mimic NC, miR-126 inhibitor NC and miR-126 inhibitors + si-EGFL7 groups, the protein expressions of EGFL7 and VEGF and cell proliferation were reduced in the miR-126 mimics and si-EGFL7 groups, while the opposite trend was found in the miR-126 inhibitors group. Compared with the blank and miR-126 inhibitors + siRNA-EGFL7 groups, tumor size, tumor weight, and MVD of transplanted tumors in nude mice were significantly reduced in the miR-126 mimics and siRNA-EGFL7 groups, while the opposite trend was found in the miR-126 inhibitors group. In conclusion, miR-126 could inhibit tumor proliferation and angiogenesis of HCC by down-regulating EGFL7 expression.

Abstract
Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant and multi-system genetic disorder in humans. TSC affects around 25,000 to 40,000 individuals in the United States and about 1 to 2 million individuals worldwide, with an estimated prevalence of one in 6,000 newborns. TSC occurs in all races and ethnic groups, and in both genders. TSC is caused by defects or mutations in two genes, TSC1 and TSC2. Loss of TSC1/TSC2 leads to dysregulation of mTOR, resulting in aberrant cell differentiation and development, and abnormal enlargement of cells. TSC is characterized by the development of benign and/or malignant tumors in several organs including renal/liver angiomyolipomas, facial angiofibroma, lymphangiomyomatosis, cardiac rhabdomyomas, retinal astrocytic, renal cell carcinoma, and brain subependymal giant cell astrocytomas (SEGA). In addition, TSC disease causes disabling neurologic disorders, including epilepsy, mental retardation and autism. Particularly problematic are the development of renal angiomyolipomas, which tend to be larger, bilateral, multifocal and present at a younger age compared with sporadic forms. In addition, SEGA block the flow of fluid within the brain, causing a buildup of fluid and pressure that leads to blurred vision and seizures. In the current review, we describe the pathology of TSC disease in key organs and summarize the use of mTOR inhibitors to treat tumors in TSC patients.
