Abstract
Oral rehabilitation with dental implants has resulted in high success rates. However, some complications have been described, such as the loss of the prosthetic screw. Some manufacturers sell screws with different coatings to avoid screw loosening, but even these types of screws can come loose. We aimed to investigate the screw coatings that can be applied during a dental appointment to avoid screw loosening. Following PRISMA Guidelines, we searched PubMed/Medline, Embase and Web of Science for studies published up to January 2024. All studies of single dental implant crowns, in which the prosthetic screw was coated with a lubricant and the preload and/or the removal torque value (RTV) was recorded, were analyzed. We excluded studies applying the finite element method (FEM) as well as studies without a control group. The risk of bias was assessed with a tool developed by our research group. Of the 1959 records identified, 19 were selected. Ten studies were considered to have a low risk of bias, and nine were considered to have a medium risk of bias. The coatings tested were adhesives, saliva, chlorhexidine, Vaseline, silicone gel, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tape, blood, fluoride, Listerine® Mouthwash and normal saline. The preload, the RTV with and without cyclic loading and the percentage of RTV loss were recorded. Some coatings show promise, although there is no clear evidence that any option is superior in minimizing screw loosening.

Abstract
Dental-implant-supported reconstructions provide comfort and improvements in prosthetic function, adaptation, and stability over conventional treatment options. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different denture cleansing solutions and their influence on the deterioration and loss of retention of overdenture attachments in a 12-month clinical-use simulation. In this way, ten specimens each of different brands of retentive caps made of Teflon (OT Equator® (Rhein83, Bologna, Italy), Locator® (Zest Anchors, Escondido, CA, USA), Kerator® (KJ Meditech, Gwangiu, Republic of Korea), and Locator R-Tx® (Zest Anchors, Escondido, CA, USA)) were immersed in five different cleaning solutions (Kukident® (P&G Tech, Oxford Parkway, UK), Benfix® (Laboratorios URGO S.L., Guipúzcoa, Spain), Corega® (Stafford Miller, Waterford, Ireland), and Protefix® (Neuhofer Weiche, Parchim, Germany)), and tap water was used as the control group, in a simulation that lasted 12 months. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and a Tukey HSD. Furthermore, a Levene Test and Shapiro-Wilk tests were performed to assess the validation of the ANOVA assumptions. The statistical analysis was performed using R version 4.2.2 software with the significance level set to p < 0.05. There were significant statistical differences between the different manufacturers regarding the retention forces of the attachment's retentive caps (F = 322.066, p < 0.001). For the cleaning solution groups, different statistical results between Kukident® (P&G Tech, Oxford Parkway, UK) (p < 0.05) and Benfix® (Laboratorios URGO S.L., Guipúzcoa, Spain) (p < 0.05) were observed. There were no significant statistical differences between Corega® (Stafford Miller, Ireland), Protefix® (Neuhofer Weiche, Parchim, Germany), and tap water, even though the retention forces decreased in all of them.

Abstract
Temporary restorations play a fundamental role in oral rehabilitation. A properly adapted implant-supported provisional restoration implies better esthetics, contouring and architectural modeling of the upper peri-implant tissue. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of oral pH on the fracture resistance of implant-supported provisional restorations made with two brands of bis-acrylic resin (LuxaCrown® and Protemp™ 4) and to compare the fracture resistance of these two materials. Twenty crowns (ten manufactured using each brand) served as a control, and another forty crowns (twenty of each brand) were aged using artificial saliva with pHs of 4 or 7, for 7 days at 37 °C, in an attempt to simulate the behavior of these materials inside the oral cavity. Subsequently, all crowns were subjected to the application of a force at a constant speed, in a universal testing machine, until fracture was achieved. The LuxaCrown® brand showed greater resistance to fracture than the Protemp™ 4 brand. Salivary pH did not influence the fracture resistance of provisional LuxaCrown® crowns but did influence the fracture resistance of provisional Protemp™ 4 crowns.

Abstract
Aim The objective of this systematic review is to show the current state of the art on which type of attachment loses retention the most and has reduced durability and which factor causes these problems the most. Material and methods This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and MetaAnalysis (PRISMA) guidelines and it was registered with the Open Science Framework (OSF) (osf.io/2e3q5). The databases used for the electronic search of articles were Pubmed, Science Direct, Embase, and Scopus. Articles were selected by 2 independent reviewers according to the inclusion criteria. The risk of bias was analyzed by using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) adapted quasi-experimental study evaluation tool. Results The studies included in this review indicate that the use of cleansing solutions, high temperatures, and a more acidic pH decrease the durability of the attachments, mainly due to the loss of retention that occurs in different models and materials of the attachments, which requires their replacement in a shorter period. Conclusion Of all the factors studied, the cleansing solutions proved to be the factor that most altered attachment retention. Different saliva compositions did not influence retention values. Aging changes retention values for attachments, mostly with loss of values.

Abstract
Salivary pH is a neglected factor that may affect the performance of removable dental prostheses (RDP). This study aimed to review literature in reference to the role of salivary pH on the performance of RDP and materials used for their fabrication. From January 1990 until December 2021, a search was done on PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using removable dental prostheses, salivary pH, PMMA, Denture base, and physical properties as keywords. Articles that met the inclusion criteria (full-length articles have investigated the effect of salivary pH on RDP materials in vitro and in vivo) were included. Out of 433 articles, 8 articles that met the inclusion criteria were included. All studies used artificial saliva with different salivary pH ranging between 3 and 14. Two articles investigated the role of salivary pH on the cytotoxicity of denture base resins and soft liner. One article studied the durability and retention of attachments, one article analyzed the performance of PEEK materials, one article researched the fatigue resistance of a denture base, one article investigated the corrosion of RPD framework cast and milled Co–Cr, one article studied the strength and clasp retention and deformation of acetal and PEEK materials, and one evaluated changes in mass and surface morphology of CAD–CAM fiber-reinforced composites for the prosthetic framework. Different salivary pH affected all included materials in this review except PEEK materials. The most adverse effect was reported with alkaline and acidic; however, the acidic showed the most deterioration effect. Salivary pH has a role in the selection of material used for RDP fabrication.

Abstract
The stability and integrity of the abutment-implant connection, by means of a screw, is fallible from the moment the prosthetic elements are joined and is dependent on the applied preload, wear of the components and function. One of the main causes of screw loosening is the loss of preload. The loosening of the screw-abutment can cause complications such as screw fracture, marginal gap, peri-implantitis, bacterial microleakage, loosening of the crown and discomfort of the patient. It is also reported that loosening of the screw/abutment may lead to a failure of osseointegration. It is necessary to evaluate and quantify, with in vitro studies, the torque loss before and after loading in the different connections. Aim: evaluate the influence of implant- abutment connection design in torque maintenance after single tightening, multiple tightening and multiple tightening followed by mechanical cycling. Materials and Methods: 180 Klockner implants divided in 4 groups: 15 SK2 external connection, 25 Ncm tightening torque; 15 KL external connection, 30 Ncm tightening torque; 15 Vega internal connection, 25 Ncm tightening torque; 15 Essential internal connection, 30 Ncm tightening torque. In each group removal torque values (RTV) were evaluated with a digital torque meter, in 3 distinct phases: after one single tightening, 10 multiple tightenings and 10 multiple tightenings and cyclic loading (500 N × 1000 cycles). Results: After one single tightening, and for all connections, RTV were lower than those of insertion, but only for Essential and Vega internal connections this result was statistically significant. After multiple tightening, RTV were significantly lower in all connections. After repeated tightening followed by cyclic loading, mean RTV were significantly lower, when compared to insertion torque. The multiple tightening technique resulted in higher RTV than the single tightening technique, except for Vega implant. The multiple tightening followed by cyclic load, compared to the other phases, was the one that generated the lowest RTV, for all connections. Conclusions: The connection design, in our study, did not seem to influence the maintenance of preload. Loading influenced the loss of preload, in the sense that significantly decreased the removal torque values. The multiple re-tightening technique resulted in higher removal torque values than the single tightening technique. Clinically, our results recommend to retighten retaining screws, a few minutes after insertion.

Abstract
PURPOSE This in vitro study investigated and compared the durability and retention of three types of attachments. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three commercially available attachments were investigated: Clix®, Dalbo-Plus® and Locator®. In total, 72 samples of these attachments were placed in the acrylic resin forms and subjected to mechanical testing (5400 cycles of insertion and removal) over the respective ball or Locator abutments immersed in artificial saliva at pH 7 and 37℃. The abutments were placed at angulations of 0°, 10° and 20°. The retention force was recorded at the beginning and after 540, 1080, 2160, 3240, 4320 and 5400 insertion-removal cycles. RESULTS The results revealed that there were significant differences in the average values of the insertion/removal force due to angulation (F (2.48) = 343619, P<.05) and the type of attachment (F (7.48) = 23.220, P<.05). CONCLUSION Greater angulation of the abutments was found to influence the retention capacity of the attachments, and the fatigue test simulating 5 years of denture insertion and removal did not produce wear in the metal abutments.
