Haemangiomas of the oral cavity are common benign vascular tumours of infancy. Several treatment modalities are described for haemangiomas, including sclerotherapy, embolisation, laser surgery and cryotherapy. Cryotherapy is the application of varying extremes of low temperatures to destroy abnormal tissue. Since cryosurgery is effective, simple and easy to perform, it is used in the treatment of lesions in both medicine and dentistry. Cryosurgery provides many advantages such as easy operation, absence of intraoperative bleeding and low infection rate. In this case, the cryosurgical treatment of a young patient who suffered from multiple haemangiomas of the oral cavity that was refractory to medical treatment is presented.

Recurrent bleeding due to mild trauma, tongue biting, poor oral hygiene, and expansion of the lesions causing difficulty in chewing, swallowing, or speaking is common sequelae of vascular lesions of the tongue. Cryosurgery is a technique for destroying lesions by the rapid freezing method. The necrotic tissue that results is allowed to slough naturally after the lesion is frozen. Cryosurgery has been utilized in the medical and dentistry field to treat many lesions as it is successful and easy to perform. It has a number of advantages, including ease of use, minimal infection rate, and no bleeding intraoperatively. This report presents a case of a 15-year-old female patient with a hemangiomatous lesion on the tongue that was successfully treated by cryosurgery using a liquid nitrogen spray. The patient demonstrated complete resolution of the lesion with good wound healing during the one-year follow-up period.

Gingival Overgrowth in an Adult Male Patient

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is an oral reactive inflammatory hyperplasia of connective tissue that can occur in response to hormonal changes and local irritation such as calculus, fractured teeth, rough dental restorations, and foreign materials. It is nonneoplastic and predominant in the second decade of life in young adult females. The most common site of involvement is the gingiva. Lesions are more common in the maxillary than mandibular gingiva and mainly occur on the facial or buccal aspect. Pyogenic granuloma rarely grows more than 2 cm in diameter and is rarely associated with bone loss. This article presents a rare case of an abnormally large pyogenic granuloma affecting both the labial and palatal gingiva sustaining occlusal trauma due to its size and associated with severe alveolar bone loss that was managed successfully with surgical excision in a 40-year-old male.

Oral leukoplakia: A review of clinical features and trends in management

Introduction: Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) conisit of the group of diseases of great importance for dentists. Oral leukoplakia (OL) has long been the subject of debate by numerous researchers. A common etiologic factor is tobacco, which is associated with oral cancer. The aim of the study is to indicate the severity of the lesion, the most common clinical characreistics and localization. The prevalence of leukoplakia in the world is 2.6% with a rate of malignant conversion ranging from 0.1% to 17.5%. Literature data about the prevalence and annual rate of malignant transformation, approximately 2%, indicate that these changes should be taken seriously and regularymonitored Conclusion: Occurate diagnosis provides the key to preventing to malignant transformation. Various medical and surgical treatment modalities for this lesion have been described. This article highlights various trends in the diagnosis and treatment of oral leukoplakia.
