Abstract
Liver fibrosis, developed in almost all chronic liver injuries. Epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) have been thought to contribute to cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. Therefore, using a rat model of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver fibrogenesis, we investigated the preventive effects of cetuximab, an inhibitor of the EGF receptor (EGFR). Ameliorative effects of cetuximab were examined in rats, brought on by biweekly doses of 50 mg/kg of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). There were a total of 24 male Long Evans rats split up into four distinct groups such as control, CCl4, control+cetuximab and CCl4+cetuximab. After two weeks of treatment with cetuximab (100 μg/kg), samples of tissue and blood were taken after all the rats had been sacrificed. Plasma samples were examined for the biochemical indicators of inflammation and oxidative stress. Histological staining on liver sections was performed for morphologic pathologies, and related genes expressions analysis were done with RT-PCR in liver tissue. The findings showed that cetuximab could raise the levels of glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) and considerably lower the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), malondialdehyde (MDA), and nitric oxide (NO). Sirius red staining and hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) displayed that cetuximab therapy reduced the inflammatory cells infiltration and enhanced fibrotic lesions. In the meantime, cetuximab therapy also dramatically reduces the expression of genes linked to inflammation in the liver tissue, including NF-кB, iNOS, IL-6, TNF-α, and TGF-β. To sum up, the anti-inflammatory, antifibrotic, and antioxidant properties of cetuximab confer curative efficacy against liver fibrosis.

Abstract
Hyponatremia is an independent predictor of mortality in cirrhotic patients but little is known regarding the relationship between the level of serum sodium and 24-hour urinary sodium with the development of severity and complications of cirrhotic ascites. To observe the association of serum sodium and 24-hour urinary sodium levels with different grades of ascites and its complications in cirrhotic patients. In the department of Gastroenterology in a tertiary care hospital, this cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2019 to September 2020. A total of 96 admitted cirrhotic patients with ascites were enrolled in this study by consecutive sampling. Out of 96 patients with cirrhotic ascites, 48 patients had mild, moderate, and severe ascites and 48 patients had complications of ascites like refractory ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, and hepatorenal syndrome. The mean serum sodium level was 131.69 ± 4.90 and 124.88 ± 5.67 mmol/L and the 24-hour urinary sodium level was 76.82 ± 45.64 and 35.26 ± 22.57 mmol/L in uncomplicated and complicated ascites groups respectively with P value < .001. In grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3 ascites, there was a significant (P = .001), association between mean serum sodium (mmol/L) level (R -0.777) and 24-hour urine sodium (mmol/L) level (R -0.704) but no significant difference was seen when refractory ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, and hepatorenal syndrome were considered. In our finding, low serum sodium and low 24-hour urinary sodium levels were associated with the development of severe complications of cirrhotic ascites. Hence, Serum sodium and 24-hour urinary sodium levels can be good predictors of grading and complications of cirrhotic ascites.

Abstract
Recently, the rate of cancer deaths in less-developed countries such as Bangladesh has significantly increased day by day, making it a major health issue. The most predominant types of cancers among the populations of less-developed countries (especially Bangladesh) are lung, throat, colon, gastric, ovarian, breast, and skin cancers. The mortality rate is increasing for both males and females. The main common factors are smoking, use of tobacco leaves, bacterial or viral infection, hereditary disorders, food adulterations, and environmental factors, which are highly responsible for the development of carcinoma in the young to adult population in this region. Raising consciousness among people regarding early diagnosis, decreasing the use of chemicals such as formalin for food preservation, and reducing environmental pollution such as arsenic as well as air pollution might help to reduce the number of deaths. Education and public campaigns can also reduce the intensity of cancer occurrence. Breast, esophagus, and cervical cancer are common diseases in less-developed countries such as Bangladesh.

Abstract
Objectives The objective of this study was to assess knowledge, attitudes, and preventative practices among barbers regarding Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) viral infection in Rajshahi city of Bangladesh. Study design This was a prospective observational study. Methods This study was conducted from January to June 2020. A questionnaire was adapted from existing knowledge attitude and practice surveys regarding HBV and HCV infection. Data were collected from barbers by face to face interview by trained interviewers. A knowledge score was calculated by giving one point for each correct response to the knowledge-related items, with a maximum score of 17. Associations between knowledge and patient characteristics were assessed by Welch’s t-test. Results A total of 403 barbers were enrolled with a mean age of 29.2 ± 7.4 years. Of participants, the majority of barbers were either illiterate or had education up to primary school (232, 57.5%). 41.2%, 33.7%, and 25.1% barbers knew that HBV and HCV could be transmitted through sexual route, blood transfusion, and shaving instruments respectively. A lower knowledge level was associated with a lower level of education (P < 0.001). Most of the participants agreed that it was essential to have periodic screening tests for HBV and HCV infection (318, 78.9%). Only 12.2% of the barbers were vaccinated against HBV. 57.1% of the barbers cleaned their instruments with disinfectant between clients. Most of them used a new blade on new clients (401, 99.5%) and disposed of the used blades into the regular garbage system (371,92.1%) Conclusions Poor knowledge regarding transmission and prevention of HBV and HCV was found among barbers which could be one of the major causes of transmission of those infections in the community. The concerned authority should pay attention to the problems and can take specific measures to increase awareness of the barbers to prevent transmission of HBV and HCV from the barber’s shop. Majority of the barbers didn’t know that the viruses can be transmitted through their shaving instruments. Most of the barbers are not vaccinated against Hepatitis B virus. A large proportion of the barbers didn’t clean instruments with disinfectant between clients. Most of the barbers disposed of the used blades into the regular garbage system.

Abstract
A novel therapeutic vaccine for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) treatment comprising the recombinant hepatitis B surface (HBsAg) and nucleocapsid (HBcAg) antigens has been developed. Preclinical and clinical trials (CT) evidenced safety and immunogenicity in animal models as well as in phases I, II, and III clinical trials. A phase I CT has conducted in Cuba in 6 CHB patients refractory or incomplete responders to α-IFN. Patients were immunized ten times every two weeks via. nasal spray, with 100 ug HBsAg and 100 ug HBcAg. Clinical efficacy was monitored by assessing the levels of hepatitis B virus deoxyribonucleic acid (HBV DNA), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), HBeAg, and anti-HBeAg seroconversion as well as by qualitative/ quantitative HBsAg serology during this period. After a 5 year follow-up,HBeAg loss was verified in the three HBeAg (+) patients, in two cases with seroconversion to anti-HBeAg. A reduction to undetectable viral load was observed in 5 out of 6 patients, and in two cases HBsAg seroconversion was also detected. ALT increases above the 2X upper limit of normal (ULN) were only detected in HBeAg (+) patients and associated with HBe antigen loss. All patients had stiffness levels below 7.8 KPa by Fibroscan assessment at the end of this period. Although only a few patients were enrolled in this study, it seems that HeberNasvac may maintain some of the therapeutic effects for a prolonged period.
